Chapter 25: Chapter 23
Annabelle's POV:
After Fenris and Johnny were taken back into the school Annabelle ran to her locker. She grabbed all her school stuff and slammed the locker shut. When she was about to take off down the hall someone grabbed her and dragged her into the nearby bathroom. Scared it was Johnny Annabelle lashed out, hitting and clawing at the person.
"Annabelle! Annabelle! It's just me!"
Finally looking at who had a grip on her Annabelle sighed in relief, it was just Elisa. Flinging herself into her friends arms Annabelle hung on to her as tight as she could.
"Annabelle, I saw the whole thing." Annabelle went rigid, "Why didn't you tell me? I knew he was hurting you but why didn't you tell me he tried to r-rape you! I'm your friend I would have helped, I want to help, but you need to tell me!" Elisa was now sobbing into Annabelle's shoulder.
"I couldn't Elisa. He said if I told you or Mary he would find both of you and rape and kill you. I love you two so much, I couldn't let him do that, and you know he would have." Annabelle whispered, silent tears streaming down her face.
"What?"
Annabelle whipped around to the door where the voice had come from. There stood Mary, tears running down her face.
"So he really did try to rape you. Why, why didn't you tell me. I'm your big sister, I've always protected you. Who cares if he would have come for me! I would have beaten him senseless and so would Ray!" Mary was now screaming at Annabelle, tears blurring her vision.
Annabelle walked up to her sister and hugged her. "I would never take that risk. Yes you've always protected me, but I needed to protect you this time."
"Then why not tell mom or dad!"
Annabelle looked over Mary's shoulder at Elisa. Her friend had a sympathetic look in her eyes knowing the older girls world was about to be shattered. "They knew." Annabelle said.
"What?" Mary pulled away and wiped her eyes, "What do you mean they knew? What did they know?" she questioned her sister.
Annabelle looked down, "The day I found out Fenris was my mate mom beat me that night, dad saw the whole thing and didn't stop her. You didn't hear because all the rooms in that stupid house are sound proof. She beat me some more while you were with Ray the next few days. That Sunday she convinced me to break up with Fenris, she said we could be one big happy family. I think she knew that was my dream and tricked me. After that she basically told me if I wouldn't be mates with Johnny she would give me to our old pack as the alphas sex slave. Turns out I would have been a sex slave no matter what though." Annabelle told her sister numbly and matter-of-factly.
Mary took a step back from her sister, shocked at what she was just told. Her mind reeling from the new information. Mary had always known her mother favored her over Annabelle, it was a sad truth, but she never thought her mother could be abusive. During training Poppy always got a bit more violent with Annabelle then the others, but that was just training, right?
Elisa put her hand on Mary's shoulder, stopping her in her downward spiral of thoughts. "As bad as all that is right now the most important thing is getting Annabelle away from your parents and Johnny." Elisa said, looking at both girls as she spoke. "Fenris now knows what's been happening, and seeing how she reacted I don't think she's gonna let you out of her sight Annabelle."
For some reason this caused Annabelle to blush. Fenris had been very protective of her, but why didn't she kill Johnny? Annabelle saw that look cross through Fenris' eyes when she had attacked Johnny, so why didn't she kill him? "I think you're right. Fenris probably won't let me out of her sight now. I bet she's outside right now waiting for me too." Annabelle said, smiling like crazy.
"I'm guessing Fenris doesn't know about mom and dad yet, does she?" Mary asked.
Annabelle shook her head.
"I want you to tell her, and knowing Fenris she'll probably take you home with her. I want you to go with her."
"What about you Mary? I can't leave you there with them."
"I'll stay with Ray, it's sooner than we expected, but it can't be helped. Today I'll go with Ray to the house and get everything I can grab together and put it in a bag. After you and Fenris figure everything out you guys can come over and grab what I could get, okay?"
A tear fell down Annabelle's cheek and she hugged her sister. "Thanks Mary you're the best."
"I know." she said, causing Annabelle and Elisa to giggle. "Now lets go find Fenris."
Fenris' POV:
School is stupid. Adults are stupid. Rules are stupid.
Fenris couldn't believe that she was the one who got into trouble. Johnny had sexually attacked her mate and she was defending her, how does that put Fenris in the wrong! All the school cared about was that she started the damn fight, but not what lead to the fight, stupid teachers.
So now Fenris had been suspended for two weeks because she left school without permission and she started a fight. This meant Fenris wasn't allowed back on school property. Normally she would have just snuck back in later, but the same witch who put the sleep spell on her put some curse or something that would shock her continuously when she stepped on school property.
So right now Fenris was stuck waiting in the forest tree line near the school, that wasn't technically school property, waiting for Annabelle to leave. She was getting nervous because it's been almost a half hour since the fight and there was no sign of Annabelle.
Just when she was about to risk the continuous voltage running through her body she saw her. Although her eyes were red and her cheeks puffy from crying, Annabelle looked as beautiful as the first time Fenris saw her. She now saw Annabelle was wearing workout clothes which were purple Nike shorts and a baggy grey tee. Her long brown hair was flowing down her shoulder in an adorable messy look. Fenris thanked the Goddess for blessing her with this angel as her mate.
"Annabelle!" she yelled.
Annabelle turned in the direction of her voice, and smiled. Dropping everything she had been carrying Annabelle full on sprinted to Fenris.
Finally reaching her Annabelle threw herself into Fenris' arms, nearly knocking her onto the ground. Laughing Fenris hugged Annabelle close to her, her scent calming Fenris and reassuring her that she was now safe.
Pulling back Fenris grabbed Annabelle's chin and lifted her head so she could see those beautiful forest green eyes. "I missed you beautiful." she said kissing Annabelle's forehead, "I'm so happy you came back to me." Fenris whispered, a tear falling down.
Annabelle wiped the tear from Fenris' cheek and looked at her, sorrow evident in her face. "I'm sorry Fenris, I hurt you so bad and in such a terrible way. I'm not going to ask for your forgiveness, but later I'll tell you why I did it, and hopefully you'll understand."
Fenris felt the seriousness of Annabelle's words hit her, and she was scared. She wanted, no, she needed to know why Annabelle broke her heart, but she knew she wasn't going to like the answer.
Hearing footsteps approach them Fenris wrapped her wings around Annabelle, hiding her from sight. She turned to the approaching people and started growling. Only to come fact to face with Mary and Elisa, both stopped mid-step due to Fenris' growls.
Mary slowly walked forward and set down a backpack at Fenris' feet before she stepped back again. "Fenris I want you to take Annabelle back to your place. She needs you and I know you'll keep her safe. Whatever happens don't let her go back to our parents, okay?"
Fenris looked down at Annabelle in her arms, Annabelle looked back up at her with a sad and, hurt? look. [Why was she hurt?] Still looking at Annabelle Fenris nodded her head.
"Thank you Fenris." Turning around Mary grabbed Elisa's wrist and walked off, but then stopped. "Oh, and Fenris, you should probably talk to Ray. He hasn't heard from you in a week and was worried." Then she turned and kept walking.
Looking back down at Annabelle again Fenris smiled and unwrapped her wings. "Ready to go home?"
Annabelle reached down and grabbed her backpack, "Yep." she smiled. Grabbing Fenris' hand they both started walking. "Fenris? How are we getting to your place."
Rubbing her neck with the hand Annabelle wasn't holding Fenris sheepishly answered, "We're gonna have to walk since I was in such a rush to see you I sort of ran here."
Annabelle laughed at Fenris' confession, causing Fenris to blush and smile like an idiot at the beautiful sound.
