Chapter 1: Chapter 1: Welcome to Savias
With fluttering eyelids, Samuel slowly woke up and he frowned as he smelled blood, burnt bodies, and moist soil. He was baffled as he looked around, he remembered that he was eating breakfast before taking a quick nap then he was awake in a strange environment.
Then a loud boom sounded and Samuel's ear rang as he struggled to stand up, he finally stood on his feet and he strained his eyes to see through the smoke around him. His ear stopped ringing and he could hear screams and people crying around him, taking a few steps forward, he saw corpses, people escaping and men fighting and terror caught him, then surprise.
" What the fuck is happening to me?" Samuel mumbled as he tried to escape the battlefield, how could he sleep for a minute and wake up in the middle of a bloody battle.
Then he saw something that shocked him, a soldier produced a fireball with his hands before throwing the fireball at an opposing soldier that nullified the attack by producing a stronger flame.
" These guys have superpowers or what the hell is it I am seeing now?" Samuel said with excitement as he watched the soldiers fight. His excitement vanished as quickly as it appeared when he saw a soldier behead another soldier controlling rocks to fight. The reality of a battle dawned on him, Samuel continued running and he kept looking back to confirm none of the soldiers were after him as he escaped.
Panting heavily, he stopped running as he stood beside a lake a bit far away from the battle field.
" Why do I feel so weak?" Samuel mumbled in annoyance amidst heavy pants, then he looked at the lake and he caught a reflection of himself.
" Shit!" Samuel exclaimed loudly, his reflection in the water didn't look like him in any bit. He was a tall, muscular geek with a handsome face on Earth but he's now a small kid that's yet to approach his teenage years.
" Can someone please explain what's happening?" Samuel managed to say as he sat on the ground, confused.
" Three soldiers with swords are coming over here to answer that question." Another voice behind Samuel said sarcastically, Samuel turned to look at the person behind him and he strangely recognized the person behind him to be the friend of the former body's owner, Kora.
" Get up and let's get going. They are coming." Kora said to Samuel before running along, Samuel reluctantly ran after Kora as he thought about whatever was happening to him.
" What's happening?" Samuel asked Kora as they sprinted through a forest at their top speed.
" You don't know what's happening, did the explosion affect your memories?" Kora responded sarcastically.
" I can't seem to remember anything." Samuel responded honestly.
" Are you for real now?" Kora asked before his mouth formed a large O when he saw that Samuel's straight face didn't budge.
" Wow, I didn't think the explosion could affect that much. We have survived worse in the past." Kora said before an arrow whistled past his left ear and his face quickly turned serious then he looked back and he saw dozens of soldiers chasing them.
" Fuck!" Kora shouted and he quickly glanced at Samuel.
" Dan, Dan, fuck Dan!" Kora shouted and Samuel finally responded, he wasn't used to being called Dan.
" Are you seriously spacing out at a time like this?" Kora said, exasperated but Samuel shook his head vigorously in denial.
" Let's split up, I will distract them and you head to the river up front and wait for me there." Kora said quickly.
" No, don't go." Samuel responded immediately.
" I have to, there's no way we will survive this if I don't distract them and don't forget that I am way faster than you so I will be fine." Kora said with a smile as he finished his words before running towards the opposite direction Samuel ran to while shouting that made all the soldiers chase him.
Samuel had an easy time getting to the river and he waited under a tree for Kora and he couldn't help but worry for Kora's safety. Seconds later, a small fist clasped his shoulders tightly and Samuel reached the knife in his belt and he slashed it at the hand but the owner of the hand managed to dodge the knife.
Samuel quickly rolled forward before turning to see Kora smiling at him and surprise and relief washed over him. Two things surprised him, the first being his fluid movements in response to Kora's holding him, he didn't remember learning any martial arts on Earth except for Taekwondo he did for just one week.
The second thing that surprised him is Kora's ability to sneak up to him without knowing and avoid his attack quickly.
" Thank God you are safe." Samuel said with relief and he hid his knife away before standing on his feet.
" Told you I will be safe." Kora said with the smile on his face widening and he also stood on his feet and Samuel noticed that they were both tall for their age.
" Let's head out of this damn Forest then." Kora said and they continued moving.
" You have yet to tell me what happened earlier, what caused the battle?" Samuel asked.
" So you really lost some of your memories." Kora said to himself before narrating the battle to Samuel.
A village existed in a forest and they kept to themselves, cutting themselves from the outside world. Different rumors went around this secret village but in rumors, an iota of truth exists. The village is rumored to hold one the few existing cultivation artifacts of the power of the wind and the artifact is protected by ten grandmasters specialized in the power of the wind.
Five ranks existed on Savias and they are; apprentice, mage, master, grandmaster and Sage being the last stage also called the stage of the gods. Grandmasters are capable of destroying cities depending on the scale of their powers and the possibility of ten powerhouses protecting one artifact makes visiting the mysterious village look alluring.
Real information about the village was passed to Kora and Samuel but they were just normal humans with poor weapons, how could they possibly defeat even one grandmaster. So they contacted a special agent of Rogra Kingdom and a whole army was sent to the village to retrieve the cultivation artifact and Kora and Samuel were paid for the information.
But the duo had other plans, they would let the soldiers destroy the protectors of the artifacts and in the midst of the chaos, they would take the artifacts for themselves.
" So were we able to steal the artifact?" Samuel asked Kora.
" Nah, but I was able to absorb a part of the powers inside." Kora said with a smile.
" Seriously?"
" Yes! I now have the power of the wind." Kora said cheerfully but Samuel remained silent.
There are different elemental powers, some discovered like fire, earth, water, wind, light, chaos and some are yet to be discovered. But some powers exist that can't be categorised into elements like the ability to transform to anybody at will or the ability to make any weapon at will.
But some supreme powers exist like the ability to control stars, the ability to invoke miracles, the ability of immortality and the most supreme of them all is the ability to absorb all other abilities into one individual.
