Chapter 36: Physical Partners

This time, after having a much more peaceful and enjoyable lunch with Lyra, it was now time for my Alchemy class, where the headmaster's son basically poisoned me and got Lyra suspended.

'I need to avoid it this time.' I considered this moment to be the turning point in my previous life. Most of my problems could of been avoided if she hadn't been suspended. Especially encountering Raja, as it made him indirectly set his targets on me.

This way, it should delay his actions and possibly avoid whatever caused that attack on Lyra.

'I never did find out why she was attacked... I think it had to do with her parents, so the suspension might have been a factor.' There was no point in trying to figure it out, as the only way I could was to go through that scenario again, which is not on my list of things to do.

'Let's pray that avoiding the attack from the headmaster's kid will prevent this chain reaction of events.' Arriving at my alchemy class, Lyra said her goodbyes and wished for my safety. Once she had left, I took my seat and patiently waited for the class to start.

'That's right, some boys will try to dump some water on me.' Remembering the details of what happened last time, I recalled being rudely awoken from my nap by a bucket of water.

Scanning the room, I tried to see where they were coming from and luckily, I spotted them approaching to cast some kind of spell.

'Come on, don't let them have their way.' I felt my anxiety spike again, trying to stop me from protecting myself. It was getting old by this point, as it was the same thoughts over and over again.

'You will be punished. It will come back to bite you. Your mother will be put in danger.' I didn't know when I started thinking like this, but it definitely has been festering even before I was transported. I had never really gotten over my trauma from high school, and for it to all manifest here, it has brought the worst out of me.

'Just give them a threatening glare paired with some magic.' Nothing I would do would warrant such extreme actions, especially against no-names like these. The only people I had to worry about were people like Raja, who were a serious threat.

I turned my head towards the boys that were trying to sneak up on me. I gave them a glare while pointing at them with a flame flickering on the tip of my finger. My sudden turn caused them to jump and back off, just showing how cowardly they really are.

'That felt much better than I thought.' Placing my hand over my chest, I felt my heart almost pump out of it. I rarely ever stood up against the people who bullied me so doing so really made my nerves skyrocket.

It gave me a confidence boost that I never really had and maybe life at the academy won't be so bad. People will always talk badly, but if they can never dare touch me, I can live with that.

"Alright, class, quiet down." interrupting my thoughts was the alchemy teacher. He wasn't someone who stood out and I never learned his name. I don't think he ever said it in the first place.

'Oh well, looks like it will be a pretty boring class.' Having already been through this, there wasn't much for me to do, so I opted to just read more of the textbook.

Just like before, the teacher quickly left the class in a hurry, which to me was kind of odd, but I hardly knew anything about him, so who am I to judge?

'Now for this bastard to try to trip me.' If I followed the steps of my previous life, I would have tripped over some kind of wire and been affected by magic. Lyra would also appear right after this so all I had to do was wait or try to avoid it.

'I think I'll wait for Lyra.' I wasn't taking any chances and taking a glance at the headmaster's son, I could see him waiting patiently for me.

'Hmm, unlike the headmaster, he really does look like some selfish prick.' I couldn't get a good look at him before, as he blurred with all the other students, but he had the aura of a typical blonde prince in a bunch of novels I have read.

Unlike the headmaster, his hair was golden and he had a pair of pure white eyes. If it weren't for the slight black outline and how abnormal it was, I would of thought he was blind.

Also, he wore the same uniform as everyone else, which consisted of a suit-like attire and a cape. However, he wore a badge and a unique tie, which I assumed was just to show off that he was the headmaster's kid.

Anyway, enough about him. It was clear from his expression that he was getting more annoyed at the fact that I wasn't moving. Served him right in trying to mess with me and for his plan to just go to waste.

I knew the headmaster wouldn't punish me in any way, so I didn't need to be wary of his status. I just needed to make sure I didn't cause any problems with him.

A few minutes went by of me just sitting there and finally the classroom door slid open. Lyra had sprinted from her class, as evident from her heavy breathing. Seeing as I was peacefully sitting at my desk, I saw the relief appear on her face.

'Now that I think about it, Lyra is quite attached to me already. She usually is a tough shell to crack when meeting new people for the first time.' It might be just fate putting us together or that this Lyra is much more open. There was no way to find out why, but my best guess was that she probably considers herself an outcast as well. If she is as lonely as she was in her past life, I totally see her getting easily attached.

"Good to see you are safe." Lyra quickly walked up to my desk and taking one last glance at the headmaster's son, I saw him packing his stuff and leaving. I was worried for a moment that he would target Lyra, but it seemed like he didn't have the balls to do it.

"Haha, not much could have happened anyway. Ready for the next class?" Once again, it felt awkward lying, but at the same time, I technically shouldn't of known.

"Mhm, it should be our physical class. Speaking of which, what room are you in? We might be in the same class." Lyra asked for the classroom number and it occurred to me that Lyra never went to her next class beyond this.

"Oh, I am in 1P-D." P for physical and D for the room. It was a nice naming system, as all the classes had their own personal rooms, making it easier to navigate and find.

"Yes! It looks like we get to hang out in this one." Lyra smiled, glad that we wouldn't be spending another period apart from each other.

"Let's hurry then before we are late." Quickly grabbing my things, I got up from my desk and ushered Lyra out the door.

"Haha~, we won't be late." Lyra giggled as we both rushed out of the classroom, partly due to me pushing her out.

'Oh my god, I made physical contact.' I realised after the fact that I was touching Lyra as I tried to get her out the door. I did it instinctively, but I knew if this was male me, I would of copped a slap right to the face.

'Enough of these thoughts. Just be grateful for what this world has granted me.' My blush showed on my face, but luckily Lyra was not looking and was facing forward as we walked down the hallway.

Reaching our physical classroom, me and Lyra stood in our little corner as everyone avoided us.

"Shouldn't we have separate uniforms for this kind of thing?" I didn't pay much attention to it last time, but we did everything in our uniform. It might be just an old-world thing where we wore a separate uniform, but I don't think the school would like sweaty students walking around.

"Oh, you probably didn't notice it but at the door, you walk through a barrier that cleanses everything. It doesn't completely clean your clothes sadly, but that way it saves us from changing. And to tell you the truth, there had been too many scandals with change rooms." Lyra gave me a brief explanation and it made sense, not to mention the scandals.

The last thing I wanted to experience was being violated in this body, so I'm glad I didn't have to go through that.

"I see, well, hopefully it's a pretty chill first class." Second time technically, but who knows, maybe it will be different this time around.
