Chapter 6: CHAPTER 6(edited): THE LAST HAPPY MOMENTS BEFOR THE DISASTER

Chinatown, New York

In front of a five-floor building with a signboard above the entrance displaying the two words 'Tang residential', Hu Xian and his sister Luna walked side by side towards the entrance while talking and laughing, their negative emotions from before completly disappeared like nothing happened.

''Hhhhh, brother I never knew you were that tough'' Luna looked at Hu Xian and said with a laugh. ''You actually broke their teeth and made their faces swollen. Hhhhhh, just remembering their swollen faces makes me want to laugh'' she continued, her eyes sparkling with amusement.

''Well, they deserve it. after all, they dared to say those dirty words to my cute and lovely little sister. Just remembering those two's faces makes me want to beat them again'' Hu Xian said with a hint of fierceness, his protective instincts for his sister evident in his words.

After hearing her brother's words, Luna wanted to laugh again as she thought, ``If you beat them even more, you might kill the two. Especially that so-called young master who went unconscious from just a few punches of yours.``

However, When she remembered that unconscious young master, her expression suddenly changed. As a worried look surfaced on her face, she looked at Hu Xian and said, ''But brother, what if the one calling himself 'young master' was really a young master of some big family and comes looking for trouble.''

''Heh! So what if he was a young master of a big family? Does that give him the right to say those dirty words to you? And in public? Even if he was the president of this country who said those words, I would still beat him up'' He looked at her and declared, his voice filled with disdain. He doesn't even take the president of the most powerful country in the world seriously, let alone some kind of second-generation young master.

Upon hearing her brother's response, she looked at him with a mischievous smile, a smile so beautiful it could destroy cities. '' hehe, if you want to beat the president for something like this, I am afraid that you would get killed by his bodyguards before you even reached him'' she mocked him

''So what! This is a world governed by the law, and even he(the president) is subjected to it, not to mention that so-called young master,'' he firmly replied, believing that no one, regardless of their status or power, is above the law.

Little did he know that this world was not as simple as it seemed and that even some of the most powerful countries and their government were not even worth mentioning in comparison to certain hidden forces.

But again, who can blame him? After all, he was just an ignorant ordinary young man who knows nothing about the true colors of this world. Unbeknownst to him, there were hidden forces, powerful individuals, and intricate webs of influence that shaped the world far beyond the confines of ordinary perception. As everything in existence has two sides, much like a coin. The only difference is that this world is a slightly bigger coin, and only certain beings possess the knowledge and power to observe both of its sides.

The same goes for this world, what you see on the surface is definitely just one side of this huge coin. As for ordinary fellows like Hu Xian, they were not even able to see a fraction of this huge coin's side that was facing them, not to mention the other side which they don't even know of its existence.

...

"Anyway, we have already reached home so let's just go in," Hu Xian suddenly said. They had been engrossed in their conversation, not even realizing they had reached the third floor where they live.

The entire building was a five-floor building. on the first floor, there was a restaurant on the front side and a parking lot on the back. The remaining upper four floors were divided into apartments, with three apartments on each floor.

As for Hu Xian and his family, they lived in the third apartment on the third floor of the building.

After reaching the entrance of their apartment, Hu Xian took out his keys, and was just about to open the door, however, before he could do so, he heard his sister's voice coming from the side. Luna looked at him with a worried expression and said, "Brother, please don't tell our parents anything about what happened today, otherwise they would be worried".

"Don't worry, I won't tell them," Hu Xian reassured her with a smile. "after all, I also don't want them to be worried," he added while gently patting her head.

With Luna nodding in agreement, he inserted the key to open the door.

with a click, the door opened, and the duo entered.

"Mom, we are home " Hu Luna called out cheerfully.

Upon entering the apartment, they were met with a middle-aged woman in her forties dressed in a red dress emerging from the kitchen with two dishes in her hands. She had long blonde hair and blue eyes, with her facial features showing signs of her aging. In general, she appeared to be a typical middle-aged American woman.

She was nonother than Emma, Hu Xian's mother.

"Mom, let me help you out," Luna said as she went to her mother, Emma, offering her assistance.

"alright, you can bring the other dishes" Emma replied with a smile, appreciating her daughter's offer

"has Dad come home yet?" asked Hu Xian who was heading to the sofa in the living room.

"yes, he is in the room, changing" replied Emma while putting down the two dishes she was carrying on the table.

"you are here" Right then, a middle-aged man's voice came from the side.

He was a 1,70cm tall Chinese middle-aged man in his late forties or early fifties. he had black hair and black pupils, dressed in a white T-shirt and black shorts.

He was Hu Xian's father, Hu Bao.

With a warm smile on his face, Hu Bao walked out of the room and headed to the dining table. He pulled out a chair and sat down in a carefree manner.

"so, where did you and your sister go this morning ? " he looked at Hu Xian, who was sitting on a sofa on the side, and asked with a smile.

"just hanging around" replied Hu Xian who was currently engrossed in checking his phone, seemingly not paying too much attention to his father.

Seeing the casual response of his son, Hu Bao knew that his son wasn't paying him much attention. He shook his head in response before he put his hand in his pocket, fishing out his own phone. He didn't feel offended at all as he understood that this was just how things were in the modern age, where technology seemed to capture everyone's focus.

With both father and son engrossed in their own digital world, the atmosphere remained dead silent. That was until the two cheerful women, Luna and Emma, came carrying the rest of the dishes.

"you two! don't you know anything else except those phones?" when Emma saw the father and son sitting in the same place, completly engrossed in their devices, not even exchanging a few words between them, she grew furious.

"what the hell are you always seeing on these phones anyways, huh?" she continued, her tone getting more agitated.

"Can't you just put that damn thing away and talk like a normal father and son should do?" she scolded, pointing at them with her hand, which was still carrying a dish, emphasizing her point.

Hearing her scolding made the two feel a mixture of embarrassment and guilt, they both exchanged sheepish glances before quickly putting their phones in their pocket, afraid that she might just break them in a fit of anger.

Trying to lighten the mood, Hu Xian hurriedly stood up and took the two dishes that his mother was carrying, placing one in front of his father while saying "Ahem, Mom I am very hungry, let's dig in quickly "

"Yes yes, I am also very hungry," said Hu Bao while giving his son a thumbs up.

"you..!" the mother still wanted to continue reprimanding the dou. But right then, she was interrupted by Luna's sweet voice from the side, saying "Okay, Mom I'm also very hungry, so let's quickly eat before it gets cold"

"Sigh! alright" the mother sighed, still giving a cold look to the two before sitting down and starting to eat.

After that, it was a very happy family lunchtime. everyone was laughing and smiling at each other. enjoying the delicious meal and each other's company.

Little did they know that this might be the last happy lunch they would have together and that their lives were about to be turned upside down as a result of what happened during the day.
