Chapter 4: Chapter 3
Joohyun started cooking for them as soon as they got back to the palace. She made simple dishes because it seems like Sehun hasn't had a home-cooked meal in so long. She made sure to make multiple dishes for him to taste. Some of the dishes she made were her favorites as well. Joohyun hummed as she listened to music on Sehun's phone, enjoying his selection of songs. Sehun had gone to his study to work on some paperwork about a shipment of souls. Joohyun took time to clean and set up the table herself. She smiled as she saw the large feast she had laid out before she grabbed Sehun's phone to take a picture of her cooking. Sehun came out due to the delectable scents wafting into his office. His heart warmed at the sight of Joohyun taking the picture. Sehun cleared his throat to announce his presence. Joohyun yelped softly, jumping in surprise. Sehun chuckled and pulled out a chair for her. "Sit down. You worked so hard and it all looks amazing."
Joohyun giggled and gestured to the food. "You don't even know yet. Just wait till you taste it. Your mind will be blown." Sehun chuckled and started to serve the food. He served the girl first before he served himself. Joohyun's heart jumped at the small gesture as a bright smile appeared on her lips. She was excited to see him taste her food. Sehun knew the girl was waiting for his reaction so he took a sip of the soup and let out a deep groan. It was so good, like ambrosia and nectar in his mouth. Joohyun giggled as Sehun started to eat, tasting all the amazing food she cooked. Sehun felt so warm for the first time in forever. He hasn't had a meal this good in centuries. He looked at Joohyun who came as a blessing and felt a slight pang in his chest. He has to return her soon. She has to go back to Olympus after the meal. He held back a sigh and listened to her talk about how she was alone so much when her mother worked. She raised herself and cooked for herself. Sehun stared at her in awe as he continued eating. His father ate him when he was born so he didn't have a great childhood either.
As they finished eating, Joohyun volunteered to do the dishes. Sehun sighed in content as he watched her hum some childish song as she washed the dishes. He took a deep breath and walked away. He can't get attached. He has to let her go home. She doesn't need to be stuck in a hellhole like him.
Joohyun finished and went to look for Sehun. She hummed softly as she went to look for Sehun. She sighed in relief when she saw him playing with Cerberus. She smiled softly as Cerberus perked his head to the scent of Joohyun. Sehun turned his head and stared at Joohyun. "Hey… are you ready to go? You might want to change back into your dress though." Joohyun pouted as she walked to Cerberus and gently caressed his head. Cerberus pressed his forehead against Joohyun's and she smiled brightly. She hugged him around the neck before she slowly pulled away. Sehun led her inside and Joohyun went to get dressed again. She slipped on her dress and folded Sehun's clothes properly.
She shivered as she stepped out. Sehun walked to her and looked at the pile of clothes in her arms. Sehun grabbed the hoodie and handed it to her. She smiled softly and hugged the hoodie. Sehun looked at her black dress before he grabbed a leather jacket from his closet and placed it on her. He put it on the smaller girl. She smiled and wore it properly before she walked with the male to the car. Joohyun hummed softly as she nuzzled into his jacket, taking in his scent. She buried her face into the hoodie as he put the seat belt on her. Sehun noticed what she was doing and took a controlled breath. He can't keep such an innocent soul. "Sehun… will we ever meet again?" Her soft voice snapped him out of his deep thoughts. He stared at her for a bit before crouching down to look at her face properly.
"Do you want to see me again?" Joohyun nodded her head and hesitantly touched his cheek.
"I do. You are a good person Sehun…" She whispered as she stared into his eyes with her doe-like ones. Sehun's eyes soften as he leaned into her hand.
"Kyungsoo has my number. Get it from him when you get back and we could text. Any time you need to get away, you give me a call. I will always be there." Joohyun whimpered before she wrapped her arms around his neck, hugging him tightly. Sehun held her and buried his face into her hair, taking in her scent. This was bad. He can't let go. Joohyun fit perfectly in Sehun's arms and he didn't want to let go of her warmth. Sehun pulled away after a bit and closed the door. He walked to the driver seat and drove her home. Joohyun watched the city lights disappear as they drove out of the underworld. She turned to look at Sehun who still had his serious face on. He looked so lonely down there though. A small pang was felt in Joohyun's heart when she thought of never seeing the male again.
They arrived at Joohyun's apartment that she shared with Moonbyul and Mark. Sehun went out and opened the door for Joohyun. He walked her to the door and sighed silently. Joohyun stared up at him as they reached her door. She smiled softly and started to take off the leather jacket. Sehun frowned and stopped her. "No, keep it." Joohyun slipped the jacket back on and hugged the hoodie to her chest more.
"Don't be sad. I will talk to you everyday Sehun! Just don't forget about me." As if he could. Sehun chuckled and ruffled her hair.
"Go in Joohyun. It is late now. I will see you later, little one." He patted her head and knocked on the door for her before he walked back to the car. Immediately Moonbyul opened the door and pulled Joohyun in before she could even look back at Sehun. Sehun took a deep breath and smacked his head. Sehun, get your ass away before she gets hurt. He took one last look at Joohyun's door before he drove back to the Underworld.
Life has always been cruel to him. He was meant to stay in the Underworld. She was a spring goddess. He could only watch as the girl of his dreams grows without him.
