Chapter 89: 4.1

[Alexander's POV]

We appeared in what appeared to be a large mansion. Using a Jedi Technique, Life Sense, I quickly counted there were 16 other presences in this room. And in the entire mansion, was only one other person, sitting in the room right next to ours.

There were also some other people, though they were all outside the mansion. Probably guards, considering how they were placed.

So this was a 17 men difficulty, more than Naruto. I wasn't that surprised, considering the world we were in. I was a little confused, however, as to where we were supposed to be.

I had watched the entirety of The Boys in the past ten days, to make sure I had all the details in mind, yet I couldn't recognize this place for the life of me.

Yet as I looked down at my watch, I instantly understood where I was.

[Mission: Put Stan Edgar back at the head of Vought International.]

These few words were plenty enough to tell me when this was, and probably where we were.

In the middle of the third Season of The Boys, Stan Edgar would be betrayed by his adopted daughter/secret protegee, Victoria Neuman, and be taken down from his position as CEO of Vought International.

That, by itself, was fine. Sure, the two strongest beings on this planet were present, as in Homelander and Soldier Boy, and one might even add a third with Billy Butcher on Temporary V, but that, by itself, was fine.

This mission was not the only text on the watch, however.

[Team Oceania and Team Northern Africa has entered The Boys. Killing a normal member from another Team rewards 2000 Points. Killing a member who unlocked the First Genetic Constraint from another Team rewards 5000 Points and a Rank C Reward. Killing a member who unlocked the Second Genetic Constraint from another Team rewards 10000 Points and a Rank B Reward. Score minus one for each member of the Team killed. Score plus one for killing a member of another Team. Final score multiplied by 2000 will be rewarded as Points. Score is shared among the Team.]

This… was unexpected. And now I felt like a fool. Why had I been expecting we would only be fighting one Team? God had always been good at subverting our expectations.

But that made things quite a lot more complicated. One good thing to note is that both Teams have already entered, so there's my confirmation we were the strongest team in this world.

Us being in the Third Season with three teams didn't help either. In that season, there were only two real sides: The Boys, and the Seven.

And unlike the previous two seasons, The Boys aren't in hiding and being bossed around by the Seven. Instead, they are actually fighting back, and the two sides are about as strong as each other. Well, they are about as strong as Homelander.

And since I was with neither side, I could only assume the other two teams were with them, meaning we would have to face both Homelander and Soldier Boy, along with quite a few other troublemakers.

"Well fuck me." I turned my head to look at Jordan who looked at his watch with wide eyes. It seemed I wasn't the only one to come to these conclusions.

As I looked at them however, I noticed something peculiar. One of the newbies was already awake.

It was a petite girl who I couldn't even say for sure was 18. She had short black hair, a cute face with a little baby fat and was dressed in a sweater.

She had been observing us, but her eyes lingered on me as I felt her grow nervous.

Waving my hand, I used my Mind abilities to reassure her, "Everything is fine."

She did grow calmer for a moment, before her eyes widened comically and she buried her head between her knees.

Stunned at her reaction, I froze for a moment, before hearing a snort from Sarah.

This newbie was… interesting.

But as I took a step towards her, one of the newbies, a red haired girl whom I thought had been sleeping, suddenly sprung up, her hand shooting for my left side.

Her hand was flat, and she was holding nothing, yet I felt some danger from her attack. It felt like I was being attacked by a knife.

She was good. And surprisingly deadly for someone without any enhancements.

She was moving in slow motion to me though.

I easily grabbed her by the wrist, and with a slight twist completely nullified the power behind her attack as I sent her flying into the wall.

Yet she spun in mid air, landing on the wall on all four to mitigate her fall.

Her long red hair moved wildly behind her as she stared at me like a lion, her stance lowering as she readied herself for another attack.

The other newbies had already waken up though, probably from the sound of the clash, so I decided to use her for our purposes.

Flicking my fingers upward, the newbie, who was ready to attack, was suddenly lifted off her feet. Before she could react, she found herself levitating midair, with no way to free herself as she didn't have anything to use as support.

Unless she was capable of flying, she was now completely incapacitated.

Meanwhile, the rest of the newbies had shocked looks on their faces as they stared at her with wide eyes.

Sarah came just in time as she started explaining God's game to the newbies.

The wild girl flailing around started calming down as she heard her too, so I decided to drop her down, and she thankfully didn't keep trying to attack me.

Once Sarah finished saying her piece, and gave me a nod to tell me she got her 100 Points, one of the newbies got up.

He was dressed in a business suit, had slicked back hair and a pair of eyeglasses. Pushing them up, he asked, "What should we be expecting from our time here? Can we even do anything of any significance here, are we going to be turned into baits, or will we be left to fend for our own?"

Smiling under my mask, I replied, "It all depends on your worth to our team. And considering each of your heads is worth 2000 Points, I guess it is your lucky day as you are quite valuable to us. So if you don't prove yourselves to be handicaps, we will protect you."

I turned to look at the two girls who were staying close to each other, and said, "Of course, the more valuable you prove yourself to be, the more effort I will be putting in your protection."

The red haired girl's expression was cold as ice, but within her gaze was a fiery light. The petite one placed a hand on her shoulder however, seemingly calming her down as she said, "My name is Mary, and this is Helena. Thank you for taking us in."

The man in a business suit was quick to follow, "And I am Victor. I will do my best to help."

As he introduced himself, the rest of the newbies quickly did so themselves, keeping their introductions short. Some of them were still doubtful of our story, but they kept their doubts away for now.

The last one to introduce himself was an old man, easily the oldest man I had seen since I arrived as he should be in his 80's. He supported himself with a cane as he said, "Hello, my name is Charles. I surely am not much of an advantage physically, but I believe I can make up with my knowledge."

Despite his age, the man exuded a certain confidence, followed by a certain wisdom.

Moreover, the petite girl, Mary, added, "I can vouch for that."

Both Charles and I looked at her in surprise, and the old man asked, "Do we perhaps know each other?"

Mary showed a flattering smile as she said, "We have never met, but I have read several of your works, Mr Blueflame."

Charles' eyes widened for a moment, before he chuckled. He turned back to me, and resumed his presentation, "I am a professor in the study of ancient civilizations, and mostly interest myself in their history and languages."

He made it obvious in his tone and in the way he spoke that I was supposed to be impressed with his presentation.

I wasn't.
