Chapter 3: Death Of An Alpha 1 (Ch.3)

Zariah squinted her eyes, the brightness of the sun was practically unbearable to her and she struggled against her chains, desperate for the solace of the shadows.

Her sensitive ears twitched and her mismatched orbs that were now surrounded by a foreign black ring darted from side to side.

Blood dripped out of her mouth as her elongated fangs pierced into her lips and the small layer of fur protruding from her skin made Zariah feel itchy and uncomfortable all over as she twitched and whimpered in pain.

What was worse, the menacing and hateful looks of the crowd of supernatural creatures gathered to witness her judgement filled Zariah with terror as rocks and all sorts of unspeakable things were hurled at her as she was dragged through the streets to be presented before the supernatural council.

"A monster...kill it!" A voice from the crowd roared and the rest of the crowd echoed their support.

"A traitor to the realms, a slave of darkness...she must never be allowed to live! Kill!" Another voice echoed and the crowd roared in rage, different supernatural creatures echoing their support with their own horrible words, it was a unanimous agreement, they all wanted Zariah dead.

"They wish to see a monster... show them what a monster looks like, kill them all." That foreign darkness that had possessed Zariah from within whispered to her in it's disgusting and blood thirsty voice.

Zariah shook her head frantically against the voice of darkness whispering terrifying and depraved suggestions to her in a forceful tone, however it did not matter how much Zariah shook her head,

She could not get rid of that disgusting voice of the darkness that churned restlessly within her, it's voice growing louder and louder till it resounded through her mind continuously, a horrifying mantra.

"Stop... please stop." Zariah pleaded to the voice within her as she furiously struggled to restrain the darkness, Zariah could never let it overtake her, she could never let herself fall into the darkness.

"Let me out! Let me out! I am a part of you now! We are forsaken! Let me out!" The voice screeched horrifyingly within Zariah's mind but Zariah shook her head frantically, the wolf within Zariah battled the darkness fiercely however Zariah could see it was a loosing battle.

Zariah's physical form had already turned into the horrifying creature of darkness, the forsaken, soon, Zariah knew she would loose all sense of awareness and become nothing more than a bloodthirsty monster.

"Never! I will never give in to the darkness! I Zariah of Crimson Moon will never be conquered by darkness!" Zariah and her wolf roared in unison in their mind as they resisted the possession of the darkness.

"You cannot overpower me! We are one now! Let me out!" The darkness within Zariah roared again, it's terrifying screech shaking Zariah's entire being and clouding her mind till she could hear nothing else but it's voice.

"You stand accused of colluding with the forsaken, the evidence is clear...you have failed your duty to the supernatural realm and have fallen to darkness, you have shamed your ancestors who were the valiant heroes of the dark war, you have led the revered Crimson Moon Pack on the part of darkness...how do you answer these charges, Alpha Zariah?" The voice of the head of the supernatural council reached Zariah, drawing her back to reality.

Zariah opened her mouth to speak however she was unable to form words, the only sound emitted from her lips was a horrifying shriek, a perfect replica of that of the darkness within her mind.

The crowd gasped in horror as they all took steps back from the platform Zariah knelt upon.

"I didn't...I swear I have never colluded with the forsaken, how could I betray my ancestors so? How could I collude with the sworn enemies of my bloodline?" Zariah thought in agony as she stared up at the head of the supernatural council pleadingly, however try as she might, she could not say these words aloud.

"You truly have lost your soul to the darkness." Another member of the supernatural council spat out in disgust.

Zariah did not dare open her mouth to counter, she knew what would come out were not words but that horrible, monstrous shriek that proved Zariah had truly turned forsaken.

"We must not spare the disgusting monster, kill it!" Another member of the supernatural council roared and the crowd erupted into raging chants.

"Kill it! Kill it, Kill it, Kill it." The crowd roared furiously.

"You see? They have laid false allegations on you and desire to take your life, they all are in agreement to harm you...why do you hesitate? Let me take over and I will kill them all for you! Every last one of them!" The darkness within Zariah offered cunningly, however Zariah shook her head fiercely.

"Never! I will never harm the innocent, I would rather die a thousand deaths!" Zariah roared back to the darkness within her mind.

Remember... life is not to be harmed but to be protected, be it from the terrors of the world or from one's own self... this is an Alpha's oath... this is the burden of a leader.
