Chapter 46: Chapter 46

~Talfen, the Capital of Coldshore~

~Inner Court, Reqiel's Palace~

Sarell took a deep breath and quickly unlocked the door once more, "Come with me, I'll introduce you to Prince Reqiel." He invited, reluctance evident on his face.

Andras either didn't notice this or he just didn't care, he was still curious about their current situation... "And you are?" He suddenly asked, realizing that he hadn't asked for the Angel's name.

Sarell jumped at the sound of the guard's voice, they were in an empty hallway that led to Reqiel's room - he was certain that Prince Reqiel would be fully dressed by now. "Sarell," He replied in a small voice, his skin crawling after revealing that information.

"I'm honored to be in your care, Sir Sarell." Andras said politely but his tone was far from that.

Sarell picked up the pace, he had to get rid of Andras right now! He knocked on Reqiel's door gently before pushing it open, only to freeze up in horror, Reqiel sporting the same expression.

In a panic, he stepped outside the Prince's bedroom and slammed the door, putting his back against it like he expected Andras to try and break down the door.

Andras' relaxed attitude didn't change, he cocked a brow at the Angel in front of him who was looking like he had a very difficult time breathing. Wondering what he had seen behind the door to get him in such a state.

Sarell on the other hand was certain that he was seeing dark spots in his vision, Prince Reqiel had been wearing nothing but a sheer outer robe and he had brought an infernal creature right to him when he was in such a vulnerable state. Had spending mere weeks on Earth made him lose all his sense of decorum to make such a dire mistake?

Reqiel inside the room was horrified because he had sent off his servants after they cleaned him up, he had wanted to try dressing himself up but after going through his endless swathes of outfits, he realized that he wasn't exactly sure what to wear or how to even wear it.

He had thrown on a random robe he found so that he wouldn't be searching for clothes stark naked, and he hadn't been expecting Sarell to return so soon. And it might just be the panic but he could have sworn that there was someone with Sarell - oh no! Had Princess Aethel arrived already?

He clutched his robes close and hurried to the door to open it, he had to make sure it wasn't Aethel. The door opened only slightly but it was enough to poke his head out, his eyes going round and his question dying on his tongue as he saw just who it was.

"Hey! I remember you!" He blurted out, pleased that it wasn't Aethel. "Thank you for saving me yesterday," He beamed, his hair flowing over a bare shoulder.

Andras nodded politely, faintly amused by the differences in their reactions to him.

Sarell tried to stuff Reqiel back inside the safety of his room but the noble Angel wasn't having it. "Why is he here? Also is Princess Aethel here yet?"

"Your Highness, please put some clothes on first," Sarell said desperately, trying to shield Reqiel with his body. "Where are the servants? Why are you all alone and undressed?"

That was enough for Reqiel to quickly slip inside his room to avoid his personal attendant's questions.

Sarell shot a fearful look over his shoulder at Andras who still looked unflappable, "Stand right here," He ordered but the tremor in his voice belied his confident words.

Andras did as he was told, trying to put together pieces of the puzzles that were the two Angels. Prince Reqiel, as he was called, had to be some sort of nobility, either that or he was a really good actor, they both were.

As curious as their situation was, they weren't the reason he had gone through all the trouble to climb the ranks amongst the Royal Guards. He had left his home though to gain experience firsthand and he supposed that a situation like this would count as experience.

He waited patiently, hearing every single word that was spoken behind the door - he was ordered to stand right here after all.

"...Princess Aethel isn't here yet but that aside, the guard standing outside has been assigned to be your bodyguard." Sarell said carefully, watching Reqiel's reaction.

Reqiel on the other hand had his priorities in a different order, he was eager to be dressed before Princess Aethel showed up and he was wary of getting scolded by Sarell.

"Oh how nice, I should make sure to thank King Holdred for his thoughtfulness."

Sarell was about to argue that he was sure that Prince Cederic was the one behind it but he had bigger things to worry about. "Y-You don't see anything wrong with your new bodyguard?" He asked carefully, holding an undershirt.

Reqiel dragged his eyes from Sarell's actions - he had been studying him so that he would be able to dress himself next time, or at least attempt to with less failure. "Should I?" He asked blankly.

Sarell was stunned speechless, there was no way Prince Reqiel didn't find the strange guard unsettling. Just how naive was he- actually, perhaps he had a hand in why the young Angel turned out this way.

He had been ordered to keep him from everything except what King Rinon approved of, he might as well be an adult with the social and emotional development of a child.

He silently returned to picking out an outfit for Reqiel and after he was done, he helped him get dressed, sitting him on the chair by the fireplace so he could brush out the tangles in his hair.

Reqiel had already forgotten about the new bodyguard, far too distracted with other things, like when Sarell would get started on the scolding. Because he had made a mess of his dresser, his clothes lying in heaps on his bed and on the ground.

He would offer to help but he knew that he would just make things worse, and it would also bring Sarell's attention to it, although it was rather difficult to ignore.

"Please put my hair up," He requested in a small voice when it looked like Sarell was about to leave it down. Reqiel would take headaches over being mistaken for a lady one more time.

Sarell snapped out of his thoughts at Reqiel's request, realizing that he had left the bodyguard in question just standing outside. It really wouldn't do for him to get on the bad side of a creature that could easily hurt him or worse.
