Chapter 20: The Raid [5]

"Are you sure that this will be enough?"

Inside a dark room, a man was holding a spherical object in his palm.

"Don't focus the appearance, only on what it can do," another man answered.

This was one of these secret meetings, and the two people inside the room had each a specific goal that led them to join hands.

"Hmm. But I didn't expect you to be the one who help us with this."

"Humans are ignorant. Sometimes words alone aren't enough for them to understand reality. Don't you think so?"

"Indeed. I thought that Caesar was a true leader but he turned out to be a coward. These people would never understand that it is the adventurers who protect their peaceful life. How can they be so ungrateful?"

"Don't worry. I am sure they will understand after you show them the reality."

"Hahaha. But there's something that concerns me. That blind man. I think it's better to get rid of him."

"Blind? No. You don't need to concern yourself about him. He is just another ignorant human. When the time comes, he will understand that he doesn't know anything at all."

"I-I see. I will trust you on this."

"Fret not. Everything is going as planned."

The next day, after vanishing from the Royal Palace, Lucian had already another destination in mind.

He headed to one of the floating islands, looking for a certain building where all of the most outstanding armor were built and sold.

"Welcome to Green Smithy!"

As soon as he entered the building, several beautiful women greeted him, as they did with the other customers.

Lucian's expression didn't change at the sight of these women who were wearing various kinds of armor pieces that still left a large part of their at the display.

He just walked inside as if he knew exactly where he was going. Some of the workers just thought that he was blind.

"Sir! You can't go that way!"

One of the guards tried to stop him, thinking that Lucian was just blind and didn't see where he was going.

"I have some business with the owner," Lucian said, not stopping even when the guards rushed in front of him.

"Even so, you can't just barge in like that!"

"Why not?"

There were several rooms where weapons, pieces of armor, and other types of equipment were displayed. All of them were large enough that some people actually needed the help of workers if they were searching for something specific.

But there was only one closed door, and Lucian was walking toward it.

"What? Hey, stop! If you don't stop, we will use force!" The guards drew their weapons and menaced Lucian.

"Do you know what is this? Your employer needs this." Lucian took a dark purple stone from his bag. "If I leave now, I will never return here again even if he kneels before me. In other words, he will never get the chance to acquire this stone again. Do you know what will happen to you if knew that you were the one who caused all of that?"

Lucian didn't get rid of the guards that were standing in his way like he usually did. Instead, he used another weapon that was more effective in that situation.

There was something that he wanted from the owner of this building, so he didn't need to antagonize them, even if he could obtain what he wanted by force.

"That's…" The guards were shaken by Lucian's words. The stone that he held in his hand was certainly valuable.

"After ten seconds, I will leave."

"Wait a minute, I will go notify the owner," one of the guards said.

"3 seconds left." Lucian didn't do anything much. He just stood there but he put a lot of pressure on the guards. There was no sign of doubt or hesitation on his face. Only the absolute confidence that he knew exactly what he was doing.

In the end, the guards opened the door, fearing that Lucian would leave. Just with a few words and the table had turned.

Lucian entered the inner area of the building, reserved for important guests.

As expected, the security in that area was tighter than outside. Two guards were standing in front of each door, and the hallway was spacious enough for a person to walk there surrounded by ten bodyguards, Lucian examined as he continued to move forward.

And after making his way to the end of the hallway, he found a huge door adorned with gold.

Two armored guards were also standing in front of it, and they looked pretty strong.

Of course, that didn't matter to Lucian. He just walked past them and opened the door. The guards didn't even see him, and when the door opened they were unable to move.

As soon as Lucian suddenly opened the door and entered the room, the chubby merchant wearing luxurious purple clothes recognized him.

"You are…"

However, there were other people inside that were surprised to see Lucian.

The merchant was sitting in front of a woman with cat-like ears on top of her head and wore an eastern dress called kimono. The red color of her dress accentuated her white skin, blood-red lips, and long black hair. She was a rare beauty.

The woman glared at Lucian but he didn't even take a glance at her. It looked like she was in the middle of talking business with the merchant.

Three individuals were standing behind her, wearing black clothing and hiding their faces behind white masks. They also reacted when Lucian appeared, but they couldn't move their body and were left frozen in place.

Lucian noticed that they were about to cut him down. But he didn't do anything to the woman and her guards, instead, he displayed the stones in between his fingers and said, "Shall we continue our business?"

"What?" The merchant was quite confused after seeing Lucian. How did he manage to reach this room? What happened to the guards? What were his intentions?

Seeing the merchant's reaction, Lucian immediately stated his purpose, as to why he came there.

"You seem to have taken care of Rita. Thank you for that." Hearing Lucian's words, the merchant became visibly shaken. His face turned a bit pale. There was a reason for this, and he didn't expect Lucian to reach this place this easily. He regretted his actions.

"Well, I don't have much time, so I will make it quick," However, Lucian didn't give him the time to think or to say anything. The stones that he displayed played an important role in this.

Still, the merchant didn't understand Lucian's goal. What was he trying to do? He didn't even look concerned although he looked like he knew what would happen to that girl, the merchant thought.

"I am sure that you are aware of the unique characteristic of Stellarium. It's not only tough. It also can store and convert any kind of energy. As such, it's possible to amplify the destructive power of a weapon and the defensive ability of armor by using these stones."

Most people ignored the real value of the metal known as Stellarium, but those who were aware of it understood what Lucian was talking about.

"These stones are special. If an armor were to be enhanced with them, it will be able to protect its owner from the attack of multiple high-level mutated beasts at the same time without taking any damage."

Lucian emphasized the part about 'not taking any damage.' A weapon manufacturer understood the value of that kind of armor.

"I will sell you the lot for 200 hundred million. That's cheap considering the rarity of these stones. I can say for certain that you will never find something like this again. But to make up for it, I will require service."

"Wai—" The merchant tried to say something because he felt overwhelmed.

"I am not finished yet." Lucian didn't let the merchant talk because that would only be a waste of time. Then, he took a wooden sculpture from his bag. "I want you to use your connection to look for this item. It's a compass."

After that, Lucian put the stones inside a little leather bag and put the on top of the table in front of the merchant.

"Take your time to examine the stones. When you understand their value, I hope you fulfill my request." Lucian's tone of voice changed. He was now giving orders. "After that, take them to the one who built these armors and tell him to create something that surpasses everything that he created so far. I will come back for the money and the information when everything is done."

And just like that, Lucian left the room, leaving the stones with the confused merchant.

However, everything he did was necessary to prepare for the raid.
