Chapter 21: Book 2: Chapter 21: Reigning Champs (1)
In a large and futuristic arena, 6 teenagers were about to battle. Besides several spots protruding from the ground to make walls between 1-2 meters to be used as random cover, the entire field was plain white.
Since the number of Alphas had been on the rise, the Association had given budding Alphas a chance to do a work-study type of class where they would learn how to properly use their skills and abilities in combat situations as well as how to work with teams. Basically, extreme P.E.
But since they did not want to make it exclusive and build resentment from students who were not yet, or might never be Alphas, all students were allowed to apply for the class with a maximum of 10 per grade with a total of 30 students in all for the class where they would form teams of 3 at the beginning of the year and have to work together as well as battle other team members over the course of the semester.
The 3 teams with the highest win-rate and best grade would be able to automatically take the class again the next year but all those who did not would have to gamble their chances just like every other student. And many loved this class since it was one where they could fight and use their powers to their fullest in a highschool setting where they would usually be limited.
That was why no one ever went easy or held back in these battles. Everyone who joined the class was a fighter or would soon be turned into one after having their teammates upset with them one too many times.
Standing on the stage was the 5th rank team, Dynamite, and the 1st rank team, Omega. The 5th rank team had two third-year members and a second-year member as their third person. Each of them was a combat-type Alpha.
In contrast, the 1st rank team was made up entirely of first-year students and was all female. But only the 5th ranked team looked down on them. After losing to the girls for half a semester, none of the other students, or even the two teachers in charge of the class, looked down on them.
Dynamite's 3 members stood on their side of the field and looked cocky as always even though they had never one against a single one of the top 4. The 3 stood in a small triangle with the leader in front and the others flanking him on either side. Each of them was a peak mid-tier Alpha.
The one standing on the right was the second-year student with dyed pink known as Hardlight. He was able to cover himself in an armor made out of pink hard light. It was not the most durable and powerful defense but it allowed him to fly and move faster than most others with similar powers.
On the left was Salamander who was a third-year. He had dyed his hair red to match his powers. Salamander could transform into lizard form that could breathe fire. No one called him a dragon anymore because one time he lost his tail but it soon grew back. So many said that no dragon would grow their tail back like that and only a lizard would. So due to the pressure and mocking of high schoolers, he was stuck with the name Salamander.
In the middle was their leader, Ruler who had dyed green hair. He was simply called GL by everyone else though. Unlike Salamander, he did not give in to the pressure of the mocking names that they had called him.
Ruler had the ability to summon goblins. Although they were not particularly powerful, the goblins only thought about two things, fucking and fighting. There had been a few times the teachers had to step in when a student was nearly sexually assaulted or killed by the goblins.
No one could fully blame Ruler for it either. Although he had some control over the green little buggers, it was not complete. He was more like a warlord of a primitive species. He could tell them when and where to attack but it was hard to tell them when to stop.
Ruler knew otherwise though. He could completely control the goblins if he chose to do so but he liked to see how far they would go and the bits of female flesh he would see when they were unleashed on the female students.
Ruler looked at the 3 girls with a lewd smile on his face that everyone could see. He did not hide the fact that he enjoyed seeing what his goblins did but no one could truly stop the goblins unless the other side surrendered.
The girls seemed as if they had been ignoring the boys and were not worried about the fight. They were chatting casually on their side of the arena and just waiting for the battle to start.
"Did you do the homework for AP Physics?" Megan asked
"No, but have someone to copy it from so I'm not worried," Cass responded with a slight smile.
"Let me borrow yours when you are done then. Binged watched that new Alpha Hunter show and forgot about it." Megan said
"No problem," Cass said casually since it was no big deal for her.
"You guys wanna grab lunch together? Heard that the new sushi place they opened up is pretty good. Already reserved a private room." Yumi asked the pair.
"Sure."
"I'm down but I'm expecting a customer. Mind if they stop by real quick?" Cass asked
But before either girl could respond they heard the loud buzzer than signified the start of the round. Over 30 goblins were charging at them followed by a lizard man and a light knight with even more goblins appearing behind Ruler.
"Talk after?" Cass asked as she took off her jacket to reveal a backless shirt before several boney tentacles emerged from her back.
"Sure" each of the girls responded before Yumi was covered in blue and white lightning while Megan walked behind the pair to watch them do their work.
"Awesome" Cass responded before she charged toward the enemies along with the lightning-clad Yumi.
Morgan looked at the duo with a small motherly smile on her face as she watched her two princesses charismatically charge in battle to defeat the forces of evil.
