Chapter 338: 2.3

I didn't have mana left with my wrath skill gone, and decided it didn't really matter. My tail slammed into the large spider's legs as I spun into action. Ground was ripped up as his legs were ripped free of the earth. I followed the strike with a hard headbutt. Knocking the spider back over the ledge.

"Why aren't you moving?" I roared.

My voice carried. The excitement of the coming fight made my blood pound as I used a second larger spider as a springboard. Shoving him down into the chasm as my wings snapped open. Dropping beneath the level of the ledge despite jumping off the falling spider. I dove down close to the water to build up speed as I inhaled slowly.

Breathing lightning down into the water. There wasn't much water yet, but there were dozens of spiders in the large pools that were forming at the bottom. Pulling up sharply at the end of my dive. I drove myself upwards inhaling again as I went. Unleashing another beam of lightning on the spiders that were scurrying up the side walls.

Lightning was my strongest element. My wings flaring as I came up above ground level. I could feel Ethan's smile as he watched me soar upward. I was here for air support. It was time for me to get to work.

My actions led to others shoving what spiders they could over the ledges. Some spiders died from the fall. Others landed in the deep water. Surviving the fall only to lash around in the water. Desperately trying to get back to the edge of the water.

Some managed to catch the walls, and started climbing again. I wouldn't be able to breath lightning on the ones that had made their way into the surrounding crowds. I'd used up my mana so I was forced to rely on my breath, and my physical strength. Aurora came up beside me. Her own smaller wingspan forced her to work harder to keep up with my pace.

Something I only had to adjust my wings for. She split off from me a few seconds later. She'd only come up along side to show me her strength in flight. My wings were strong, and sturdy as I flew for the far end of the chasm. There were no humans on the far side of the chasm.

Even after a few minutes of flight I was unable to reach the far side. I stayed to one side of the chasm breathing lightning onto the spiders climbing the walls. I kept on blasting them over, and over again. Even after my throat felt dried out, and raw I kept on going. Notifications binged at the back of my mind over, and over again so many that the dings started to blend together.

I silenced them mentally, and accelerated down toward the water so close to the walls that my wings knocked spiders free of the wall as I went down. I slammed into the quickly deepening water, and practically inhaled a large amount of the water. My sore throat eased, and I burst out of the water without losing much speed at all as I rose from the surface of the water. I roared so loud that the world around me seemed to reverberate away. Some spiders, and rock fell from the walls as the waters surface broke from the sheer amount of sound.

I noticed the feeling of mana drawing from my core. The ease at which I drew from my core caught me off guard. I'd forgotten how tiring it was to draw from a nearly empty core. My body was still holding strong so I ignored the mental exhaustion, and kept heading for the far end of the chasm. The lizardmen that had the chance looked up at me in awe as I flew by.

It seemed that this dragon worship didn't stop at just one tribe. I wouldn't have a choice when this all ended. I'd have to go to the priestess. It was the only thing the lizardmen had asked of me, and I didn't see them asking for anything else. I didn't like it.

She knew too much about dragons. The fact that even the lizardmen recognized the crown of horns bothered me even more then I cared to think about. I didn't want to see this priestess. Everything about her gave me a chill. I could feel my spine rise despite the heat, and work I was putting in.

My eyes locked onto the angry spider queen. She was standing on a high point of rock. Screaming rage at the water that was surrounding her. My wings beat air down onto her as I hovered well out of her reach. Her venom had burned into me the last time we'd met.

Part of me wanted to eat up her core, and gain the venom she possessed. I didn't want to fly into her reach. Nor did I want people to be even more frightened of me because of another lethal venom added to my arsenal. The basilisk venom I carried was already enough of a problem. I changed my flight pattern so that I could circle her instead.

She didn't look wet. I doubted she'd had a chance to touch the water so far. Her screams started calling back the spiders that were dying around her. They were slowly gathering on one side of the queen. Killing themselves to create a path to the closest wall for their queen.

She was far from the center of the chasm. She'd been running for the edge when the water cut her off. She screamed again. Drawing in more of her minions as she starting walking on the path of corpses. She was the strongest of the spiders.

I couldn't let her get to the walls. Once she did she would climb the walls, and start slaughtering anything she could reach. Her long legs stabbing into her kin as she walked. Most dropped off when she raised her legs again. I smiled when I spotted the heavily damaged leg.
