Synopsis
Lady Jessamyn brought home a ten-year-old orphan when she was eight. He was handsome ^_~. She provided him with a place to stay and warm meals. As they grew up, she desired to marry him, despite their differing statuses. As war raged, he signed up for the military, promising to ask for her hand when he was worthy.
Two years later, he became more than what he promised he would be. He became the Archduke of Ayberia. But he broke her heart by marrying her friend.
Years rolled away; life happened. She married a man who loved her and fell madly in love with him. She didn't think of him again. But fate was cruel; she was widowed at the age of twenty-one. She lost everything.
Seven years later, she met a mysterious wolf while she was out at work in the Archduke's fief. She had a fall. The next morning, she found herself on the Archduke's bed.
Did fate bring them together again? Or something nefarious is at play?
Is this a chance for a second love?
Will she find out why he abandoned her in the past?
Is it possible to rekindle their old love, or is it too late?

"Is this punishment?" Jessamyn asked.
The man standing by the lamp smiled. A gentle breeze blew bringing in the scent of flowers. She couldn't figure out the flower from the scent reminding her once again that she was in an unfamiliar place--his fort. She observed him.
The shadows flickering on his face concealed his expression from her.
"It's atonement," he said, his voice shaking.
Jessamyn let out a scoff. It worried her for the better part of her life when others blamed her for everything. Thankfully, Joar taught her to ignore what others thought of her. She knew who she was and didn't want to change herself for them.
"Atonement? What did I ever do to you?" she asked. She wanted to know what "sin" she had committed that warranted such humiliation from him.
He scoffed. His throat bobbed and he turned to face the full moon out there.
She waited for him to answer her.

I am so glad that I came across this novel. It is heart-wrenchingly beautiful. Many readers tend to not read books where the leads already have had someone in their lives. And I would say those stories are actually the hidden gems that readers miss out on due to their prejudices. Some of these stories are thousand times better than the trashy romance stories having no depth to plot and characters. I have only read 30 chapters but already felt the leads' emotions to such an extent that I cried at times. The fl, Jessmyn is so brave for suffering through so much. I feel like she'll become one of my most fav fls. She is strong, independent, feisty, kind and loyal. On the other hand, the ML is also a wounded soul whom you will want to hate yet feel pity for. Both of them have lost so much and suffering. I can't wait to read how they will bridge the gap between them as they have so much remorse, regret, anger, suffering, loss, pain to deal with. The second leads balance out the emotional upheaval by providing the fluff. I swear both of them are so cute😂. I have been a regular reader on this platform and I feel like after so long I am reading a remarkable work compelling enough for me to leave this comment for future readers to not miss out on this story. I am actually dissappointed in myself that I haven't read anything from this author before. As I wait for more chapters, I am going to check out other books from this author.

I admire the FL and want to read more about her. Shes so deep and her character is layered. Shes strong, smart and at the same time has deep resentment which might be a flaw. I am glad to read about a complex character. I'm excited to see how Golda is going to develop her further. The conflict between the leads is very deep. Can it be rectified considering FL's character We will have to wait and see.
A hooking start! Love this author's works. Her characters are fleshed out. Love the FL. We haven't met the ML yet so I can't say much about him. Perfect grammar. FL hates the ML so much. I wonder how the authir will bring them together. Can't wait 😍❤️

This is such a fun read, Golda knows how to create well-thought-out interesting characters and excels at it! The story premise is perfect, the world-building is awesome, and the pacing is constantly engaging. I am sure many readers will instantly fall in love with The Archduke's Songbird!
