Chapter 1: Chapter 1: The Bait
3RD PERSON'S POV.
(Last Night)
The unknown woman made her way along the dark, forested lane. When she heard movement coming from the forest, she paused. She let it go, thinking it might just be a delusion, and continued to walk straight. But suddenly it started to move once more. She followed it because she could no longer bear her curiosity. She entered the woods, however, the darkness made it difficult for her to see. She was fatally attacked by a wolf in an instantaneous attack before she could call for help.
(Current Day) DAY 1
At nine in the morning, Jade rinsed in the restroom. She ate the sweet mint she grabbed out of her tiny cabinet. She walked downstairs with her family for breakfast. "Good morning, Jade!" Dulcie, Jade's youngest sister, stated. "Good morning to you as well," Jade grinned. She turned to face their older sibling. In front of the food, Briar is on her phone. "Briar, stop that. Honor the meal." Their Mom said. She lowered the phone she was holding and rolled her eyes.
JADE'S POV.
There are numerous things scattered in the house because we just moved in yesterday. Because my school and Dulcie's school are nearby, we relocated here. I didn't want to move here because the route to the school looked spooky, but I had no option. Dulcie and I walked upstairs to share a bath after we finished eating. I'm so close to Dulcie. Due to her haughtiness, Briar is the only one we don't particularly like. when Dulcie and I had finished our baths. We separated up and changed in our rooms. I simply wore jeans and a t-shirt. I then put on my leather jacket and rubber shoes. When I was done tidying up, I also came downstairs. "Finished yet, Dulcie?" I stated. "Yes, just a moment" As she stepped down, she spoke. "We will be walking there, so hurry." We bid our parents farewell as she took her bag. We stepped outside and began to stroll. We spotted many police turned around on something as we were making our way to school down the eerie road. "What's up?" Dulcie held my hand and asked. "There's nothing to see, don't worry". I rubbed her back and carried on walking. I know something's wrong, but I don't want to get involved. When we arrived at the school, practically all pupils discussed what had occurred on the unsettling road. "Just go alone to your classroom. I'm becoming slack. I'll search for my classroom as well. I love you." I kissed her on the cheek. "Wait for me outside the school later. Let's go home together," I spoke as we separated ways. I ran into a woman as I was entering the college building. She is so stunning. My entire world suddenly slowed down. "My apologies. I was once more distracted by my thoughts, so I missed your arrival." I stuttered. She suddenly grinned at me and remarked, "It's alright. It's also my fault. Despite knowing that it was against the rules, I sprinted into this hallway. I'm in a lot of rush." Her papers had fallen, so I scooped them up and gave them to her. "Thank you." I must leave. If I don't give these papers to the president at the appropriate moment, she'll murder me. She took off but then paused. She turned and told me, "My name is Belle. Before you head home, meet me at the school rooftop." I grinned as she swiftly fled from me. I did not even make an introduction. Maybe later. I hope she has not yet found a lover. After looking around for ten minutes, I finally located my first class. I was taken aback to realize that I had several gorgeous colleagues. They were all looking at me when I walked into the room. Suddenly, I felt embarrassed, but because I was confident in my beauty, I just let it go and sat down. In the end, it has been a tough day. I can now talk to Belle again after seven subjects. I recall that Dulcie still had class, so I had time to get to know Belle. To reach the rooftop, I went up the steps. When I arrived, I found Belle waiting and ventilating. She turned to face me and chuckled. I immediately went up to her and offered my hand, saying, "I'm Jade. Jade William." "Belle Jackson." She extended her hand to shake hands and grinned. "Again, I sincerely apologize. We met at a terrible period. The president is stern that's why I'm in a hurry earlier." She cast a downward glance. I keep looking at her lips while she speaks. When she noticed, she immediately smirked and said, "Would you like to accompany me later?" "Where?" I asked. "I was invited to a party that one of my friends was throwing, but I didn't seem interested in going because I would be bored there. But I'll go if you want to go with me." "Then I will." I'm down to play the cool kid. "I'm sorry, Belle. My sister's class appears to be over. We're heading home. I'll see you later. Where is the party being held?"
"The location is close to the unsettling road." She said. "Cool. Near to our home."
"Oh, you also live near the creepy road?" She questioned. "Yes and trust me, our house is creepier." I looked down and saw that Dulcie had come out so I said goodbye to Belle and went down. "Belle, nice to meet you. We'll talk afterward." I winked at her as I leave. Dulcie waved at me as I walked toward her after I descended the stairway. "Where were you?" She asked. "I'm with Belle."
"Ooo. Who's Belle?" She teased. "Belle and I just met. Don't assign any meaning to anything." I said as we went home.
Mom asked us how our day was when we arrived home. "How did your first day go?" I spoke and said "This girl I met. She is incredibly pleasant and my type." Mom responded to my question while I headed upstairs. "Ask her to come here sometime."
"She offered me to join her later at a party. I'm going." I yelled while getting changed from my room.
I was concerned about what I would wear. I've never been to a party before. I quickly discovered something else that I could wear to the party. I recognized the black corset I had previously worn. I simply sought a pair of black fitted jeans that would go well here, and I also wore my black leather jacket. I donned the watch that my father had given me along with my black Martin boots. I chose to curl my straight hair to make it wavy. I don't usually apply makeup, but because I'm going to a party, I'll do it. I used black eyeliner and black eyeshadow on my eyelids. I add eyelashes as well. I put matte nude lipstick on my lips. When I looked at the clock, it was almost 6:30, so I decided to leave. "Mom! Dad! I'm heading outdoors. I'm not sure exactly when I'll get home, but I will."
I continued to leave the house even though they did not respond because I knew they had heard me. I felt something was quite off about the woodland close to this road, therefore I was a bit afraid of what I was going through while I was walking. A residence nearby started playing loud music shortly after. I already know that is the home of Belle's pal. Before the entrance, Belle was soon waiting for me. She was donning a gray little bodycon dress with one side shoulder. Additionally, she wore white heeled boots. Her hair was wavy and short. She even looks stunning without any makeup on. "Have you been here waiting a while?" As I moved in her direction, I crossed my arms.
"You must identify yourself. You pass my recognition. You look fantastic. I want your phone number, please." With sarcasm, she said. We both chuckled. "Is my attire suitable? I get a cosplaying vibe." I spoke. "You appear extremely human right now. Would you like some beer?" she told and I laughed. "Yes please." She and I walked inside to buy a beer. We entered her friend's room after getting a beer because the commotion from downstairs prevented us from hearing each other speak. The atmosphere changed abruptly when we entered Belle's friend's room, and Belle and I felt awkward. She caught me drinking the beer I was holding and stopped me. We then stopped acting awkwardly. "I'm glad to be with you at this moment. Sincerely, I knew you would probably be my true friend the moment I laid eyes on you." She said and added, "Before, I've never had a true friend. All of them are bogus. I'm always there for them when they need me, but when I need them, they vanish without a trace. I'm really glad you came here with me"
I smiled and I'm really happy that she takes me as a real friend. However, I feel saddened by the fact that she only sees me as a friend.
"Let's play a game?" She asked.
After we played truth or dare, informed her that it was too dark for me to stay. She accepted and remained in the room. She must have been tipsy. "See you tomorrow." Then I left.
I overheard a sound in the woods as I was making my way home. I disregard it like I always have. But soon after, I heard another sound coming from the woods, which aroused my curiosity. I went into the terrifying forest to investigate what I was hearing. I simply lost my footing due to the wood I stepped on. The snarl of a wolf immediately sounded out before I could even stand up. I stood there and simply gazed at the ground. I was terrified since I wasn't yet prepared to pass away. The wolf was going to kill me when another one suddenly ran in my direction. I initially believed I was being assaulted, but what she did was attack the first wolf I spotted.
Panic kept me from moving.
The first wolf to approach me eventually backed off. One remained. The moment the wolf caught my attention, it abruptly changed into a person. Even more unexpected is the fact that the wolf is Belle. "Belle?!" I panicked. "Calm down. I'll explain everything tomorrow. For now, you should go home. You're not safe out here." She said. "You do realize that you're naked right?" I asked. "Well, stop staring then." She laughed and I was very terrified. "Don't let anyone know. After school, tomorrow, come meet me here." After speaking, she changed back into a wolf. She started to walk home after leaving me in the woods. I'm so perplexed that I can't think clearly. I simply returned home to rest.
DAY 2
"Jade, get up now! Dulcie and you are running late." Mom screamed downstairs. "Shit" When I suddenly realized I had school, I stood up. I immediately went to the restroom and quickly showered. I rushed through brushing my teeth and doing my hair as well. I picked up a t-shirt and a pair of skinny pants in a hurry. "Is Dulcie ready?" I asked. "She's been waiting for you," Mom spoke.
I quickly went downstairs, drew Dulcie to me, and grabbed my bag. "Mom, I'll be home late. Dulcie can go home alone after I simply take her across the street. She can do it because she's a grownup." When mum didn't respond, Dulcie and I abruptly left because we were running late.
We split up after we arrived at school. I spotted Belle in front of the college building's front door. "I'm sorry about what happened last night." She said as I ignored her and continue walking. She followed me and kept talking. I got pissed and said, "Please give me a moment to collect my thoughts because they are still jumbled. Let's talk about it later." She stood there while I continued to move forward. Do you think I upset her? Am I being cruel? Nevermind. I walked into the classroom and sat down in my seat. I simply waited until I was free to go once each lesson was completed.
And all went fine in the end. I left our classroom and proceeded to the high school building to pick up Dulcie. I quickly took her across the street and let her come home on her own. When she was finally out of my sight, I took a deep breath and entered the woods. I can already see Belle. "Are you ready to know the truth?" She asked as she transformed into a wolf. "Do I have to walk? What area are you taking me to?" I panicked. She gestured that I should ride her. "Ah... No, thanks." I said and she growled. "O-ok, ok, calm down will you?" I began to climb up behind her, and as I sat down, she startled me by running quickly.
I was taken aback when we arrived at our destination since the house in front of me was so enormous. "We refer to this as 'The haven'" Belle became human again. "You should stop doing that." I rolled my eyes. "What?" She lifted her left eyebrow. "That... What you did just now. The abrupt return to human form, followed by being stripped naked." I spoke with a tone that indicated I was irritated. "Why even concern yourself?." She took a bathrobe out of the chest she had opened under the tree. She used it. "What are we even doing here?" I asked. We entered the house jointly after she seized my hand. When we entered the living room, I was astounded to see three men standing there. I just focused on one individual. He had hazel eyes and was tall. He had a neat appearance and was plainly capable of living. His physical attractiveness and potency as a sexual draw. We made eye contact, and suddenly I felt stiff throughout my body for no apparent reason. The person on his left seems gentle and innocent. He has blue eyes and white hair, and he is very attractive. The person on his right seems flirtatious. His eyes and hair are both browns. Although he is attractive as well, I still favor the center male.
"Are you checking us out?" The man from the right said. "I was judging you." I rolled my eyes.
"Our alpha is in the middle. He is Aiden. Aiden Taylor. " Belle said and Aiden just stared at me. "What are you saying? What do you mean Alpha? You mean they're also a werewolf?" I showed a confused face. "You got that right." She said. "Duncan Miller is on the left, while Paxon Brown is on the right. Like me, they are both betas."
"No more introductions. I'm curious as to why you brought her here." As Aiden spoke to Belle, his brows wrinkled. "We need to protect her. The pack of Kiera is after her. Kiera's pack doesn't randomly murder people. She must therefore be significant." Belle responded. Aiden gave me a full body scan. "And why is this woman so substantial?" "You are very unkind. Don't you see, I'm so gorgeous?" I came towards him. "Don't let your appearance make you too comfortable. You can't escape wolves with your good looks." He came closer. "At least you acknowledged my beauty." Our lips were about to meet, so I backed away. "She must reside in my home if her life is in danger so that I can look out for her." He said it gravely.
"Why must you defend me? Belle and I are best mates, so why not just her?" I confusedly asked.
"I am their Alpha, thus. I am the most powerful. With me, you can feel more secure about your safety." He said. "I'll actually murder you when I lose my patience. You ask so many inquiries. Could you shut the f up?" He added and He moved closer to me. "I do have one last question." I gulped after I spoke out of fear. He sighed. "How will I explain to my parents that I must move into your household?" I questioned and his hands were placed on his waist. "You don't have to. Just let them know that you will be gone for two weeks due to a college trip." "What happens if they speak with the principal about it?" I questioned once again. He looks very pissed but I was just concerned about what's going to happen if they found out that I'm involved in this kind of shitty situation.
"Belle will take care of that." He said calmly. "Before my patient vanishes, could you please get this woman out of here?" He talked to Belle. "Understood." Belle grabbed my arms and pulled me outside. "I can walk alone." I retracted my hand from her. "Why are you being so difficult?" She stopped. "I'm not. Just leave me alone." I simply left her there as it started to rain. The rain was getting heavier, so I ran home. I was completely drenched when I came home. "Goodness, what happened to you?" Briar asked. "You cared when?" I responded as I ran upstairs to take a quick shower in the bathroom. After taking a shower, I dressed and took care of my skin. Following that, I continued to reflect on what was happening until I fell asleep.
3RD DAY
Our mother's shriek roused me from sleep. "You have company!" She yelled from downstairs. I abruptly stood up to see whose person my mother was alluding to. Belle was conversing with Briar while seated in the living room, which caught me off guard. Belle turned to face me as I peered down the steps. Mom cleared her throat and said, "You're going on a college trip, Belle said. Why did you not inform us." I sighed. I was very speechless. I'm not sure if doing this is the right course of action. Never before have I lied to my mother. "The news was released yesterday. Perhaps she was so exhausted from last night that she fell asleep as soon as she got here, which is why she didn't mention anything to you." Belle stepped in.
I signal Belle not to get involved as I glance at her.
I'm genuinely curious how Belle and Briar met. I am familiar with Briar; she shies away from interacting with outsiders. Her connection with Belle is indicated by this.
"When are you leaving?" Mom spoke. "Right now. We're running behind schedule." Belle smiled at mom. "Jade! Why are you holding out? Put on some clothes and pack your bags."
"To save time, I'll merely accompany Jade while she packs her stuff in her room." Belle stood up and went upstairs with me.
We walked inside my room. I asked her right away, "How did you know Briar?"
"Briar's my ex." She answered my inquiry, and all of a sudden, my world fell apart. As she assisted me in placing the clothes in my bag, I was astounded.
"Hey, are you okay?" She asked as she stop packing my things. I shook my head and said, "Of course. You didn't tell me that my sister is your ex, which stunned me." "I had no idea you were Briar's sibling." She continued packing my things. "How did the two of you meet?" I asked. "When your sister courted me, I was a high school student and she was a college student." I laughed suddenly and she also did. "What the- She courted you?" I nearly died from laughter.
We finished packing, so I made the decision to get dressed. Before getting dressed, I realized Belle was still in my room, so I turned to face her and said, "Do you mind leaving?"
"I mean, come on, we're both girls." She responded. "I don't care. I want privacy. Even though I don't feel comfortable, I let you inside my room. What else do you require?" I yelled at her. "Why do you even feel uneasy?" She asked. "First of all, I recently learned that you are my sister's old girlfriend. Secondly, you failed to explain the nature of our connection. Thirdly, I don't get the werewolf aspect." I suddenly took off my clothes to get changed while I talk. "If I don't know you're her sister, how am I supposed to tell you she's my ex? And we are not romantically involved; what are you talking about? We are merely pals. Furthermore, Medox Wolf's decision to use my body was not my fault." She rolled her eyes at me and left. When she stated that we were simply friends, I abruptly awoke from my thoughts.
Clearly, I was one-sided the entire time.
I could no longer see Belle below when I descended with my luggage. However, Duncan was present. "Duncan? What brings you here?" I asked. "Before leaving for the college trip, Belle had to pass something, the SC president had phoned. She simply told me to come to get you because of that." He said calmly.
We were about to leave when Dulcie suddenly startled us. "I was taken aback," Duncan said but doesn't show any sign of fright. "Is that sarcasm?" I asked him. "No, it's not." He seems like joking but at the same time, he's not. Does he have no emotions? "Just tell mom I'm leaving," I told Dulcie.
When we left the house, I noticed Duncan had parked his car nearby. I was astonished because of how costly his vehicle is. I've been wanting a car like that for a very long time. It's a Mercedes Benz!
I stayed outside the car even after he got in. "Why don't you enter?" He asked as he started the engine. "It's just that your car costs a lot of money. If I go in there, it might get dirty." I said. "Since you are the first woman I will ride with here, please go ahead." He was adamant. I soon followed and got into his vehicle. He instantly walked up to me as soon as I locked the door to his car. I was unable to breathe. If you take a good look at him, he is really attractive. I thought he was going to kiss me, but instead, he quickly yanked out the seat belt and buckled it around me.
"Are you ready?" He asked. I sighed and nodded. He started to drive.
We also arrived at Aiden's residence after 30 minutes. I find it hard to imagine he resides in such a lavish home. Is he the only resident here? Soon after, I saw Aiden leaning against the door with his arms crossed. I rolled my eyes at him and he scared me with his death stare and red glowing eyes.
"You should act better while you are around him," Duncan whispered as he takes my stuff.
Aiden wasn't the only person residing in the house when Duncan and I arrived. Inside, he has guards and housemaids encircling him.
"This is Amelia. She will be assisting you to your room and she has everything you need. If you need her, just pull the rope inside your room." Aiden said while Duncan is about to leave.
"Duncan!" I called him. He faced me and I said, "Thank you." Then he nodded.
Aiden ordered the maids to get my things and fix them in my room. "I never thought werewolves were rich," I whispered. "Be careful. There are werewolves all around you." He's scaring me. "You mean... Your maids and guards are werewolves too?" I asked as my hands tremble from fear. He didn't respond but I saw him smirk. "Let's go, lady," Amelia said.
I mock Amelia and remark that I wonder if she's a werewolf as we go up the stairs. She doesn't respond to me; instead, she just laughs at how annoying I am.
