Chapter 2: The marked one
"What's going on' I say as I wake up to see my entire family surrounding my bed with a disgusted look in their eyes.
"It seems that young Mason doesn't have any skills in magic nor does he bear the family mark, rather a mark on his wrist which seems to be a highly ranked one but also an unknown one." says a man from behind them as he flips through pages in a book.
"It's probably best if we kick the useless trash out of here mother" my elder brother said.
"He'll bring shame to our Airblace name" my mother says as she walks out the room.
My two sisters who always supported me looked at me sad and walked out the room while my older brother laughed as he began saying that my engagement with Emma White was called off due to me not having the family mark after thirteen years of living and stuff like that.
"Mason starting from today you are no longer my son so get the hell out of my house and don't you dare come back here for no reason you're never welcomed back here" My father yelled at me as he walked out the room" Best You leave now before I have the Guards throw you out"
I quickly get out of bed packing a bag with a silk cloth, my clothes and a badge with the family mark. As I walked out of the castle my sisters gave me one hundred crimson coins to start off.
"You should be fine with this but don't waste too much of it in one day'' My little sister says as she quickly gives me a hug and runs off to the courtyard.
"If you need anything come to my dark eagle guild I'll help you through there" My older sister says as she walks away looking down sadly.
I began to walk down into town only to find that I was extremely hungry but didn't want to waste too much so I settled for a loaf of bread and a cup of tea. As I waited for my tea I noticed a bounty hunter that kept on looking at my wrist with the Crimson red and black mark on it. When he saw me looking at me he got up and came over to me sitting down in the chair across from me.
"My, that's a mark my old man said was very,very powerful that is only passed down through the skill {true blood}" Poke the bounty in a low voice so only I can hear him.
"What do you mean it's a mark given through the skill True blood" I ask as I cover it up with my gloves.
Well I personally don't know much about it but my old man...uhm my teacher I meant was rescued back in his time when he was young by a group of people who had a strange mark on their wrist. He described it like a beast with wings and seven swords defending it" he says as he looked around.
"So it's like mine" I say as I noticed what he was looking at. A group of men came into the room when I wasn't paying attention and they had the Poisoned Python gang symbol on their left hands.
"We need to get out of here. I'll take you to my teacher so that he can tell you the rest besides he's the only one who has books that were given to him by the people who saved him."
"No ones leaving till I get paid" One of the men shouted as he made a fireball appear on his hand. "Everyone better give me twenty crimson coins or else I'll burn this entire building down to the ground"
Everyone started to get their crimson coins out except an elf woman who was sitting herself near the rail of the top floor.
"I don't care if your an human or a demon, this is our territory so you better give us your money or you better prepar…" He didn't even finish what he was about to say before his entire gang member fell dead with a leaf in their throats.
The elf who was on the top floor was standing in front of the fallen men and looked over to my table. "Darius you done having your tea party with that kid let's go" She said as she walked out of the building.
"Let's go, kid, we need to go to the Mavmist Kingdom to see my teacher." Darius said as he got up
As I followed him I saw My brother and a group of the adventurers as we rushed out of there.
"Can we go now, there's a person back there that I don't want to run into" I say as I jumped into a wagon with the elf.
"Why is he here" She asked as she steers the horses to the countryside.
"Because of this" He graves my arm and shows her my wrist.
"That's the mark the master told us about," she says as she throws the rope to Darius as he nearly falls off the wagon in an attempt to catch it.
"Which family are you from?"She asked as she looked at my wrist a bit closer.
"I..um, I'm from the...Rather I used to be in the Airblace until they kicked me out for not having my magical skills awakened yet nor did I have the Airblace mark" I say as I looked outside to see the kingdom grow smaller and smaller behind us.
"Was that the last name of the group or was it the kingdom they were living in" she asked as she sat laid down on the seat.
"No I honestly don't know what you're talking about. But one thing is certain and that is that this mark is not recorded in any book nor does anyone in the kingdom have it" I say.
She kept asking me many questions about how I lived my life throughout the journey to the Mavmist Kingdom. We went fishing when we were at lakes and Sophia who was the name of the elf soon began to teach me her spirit magic. Darius and Sophia were both from the White wolves guild the most powerful guild in the entire north continent.
By the time we got to Mavmist kingdom, we were all dead tired. Three weeks to get from home, no from the Airman kingdom. They will never accept me. I was very distracted that I did not notice that we arrived at the wolves guild.
"How long are you going to space out for" Asked Sophia as she gets off the wagon and ties the horses up.
"Oh sorry I was just thinking of something" I say as Darius walks into the guild.
"Can I go explore the town right now" I say as I hear all the crashing and banging coming from inside.
"Sure Just don't get lossed, and be careful there's some slave traders here. They might mistake you for a runaway slave" she says as she looks at my dirty ragged clothes.
"It's fine I'll be alright" I say as I walk into town. As I walked into the town I noticed that there were many different beings living or traveling through the town. Elves, demi-humans, humans, and dragon-folk.
Knights were patrolling around the town in groups as children were playing around.I've never once back in Airman was I able to go beyond the castle grounds but ever since I left I began to remember that there was never a single child playing, and the adults looked as if they were going to die of starvation due to the work they have done; but here they seem to be happy. Even the knights look happy as they watch the people around them be joyful.
"Excuse me but where's your master" Asked a woman who looked to be of a noble family.
"Master, I don't have one." I say as I Watch as there is a group of guards watching from a distance with a devilish smile.
"So some poor being like you does not have a master yet manages to get into the richest kingdoms of all. I don't believe it came with me, you're bound to have run away" she said as she grabbed my hand and pulled me down when she fell.
"Help this little thief is stealing in broad daylight" she yelled, still holding onto my hand so that I couldn't get away.
The guards that were watching earlier came running as they were shouting "Get away from Madam Belle you dirty slave"
By now the knights that were on patrol had heard the commotion and began to run over here.
"What's going on here"
"This wretched slave is trying to steal from me in broad daylight,'' she says as she finally released me as I tumbled backwards.
"What no'" I say as the knights began to pull their swords" This woman is trying to frame me telling me to follow her and she graves my hand and wouldn't let go"
"Lies we saw it all" Says the guards of the lady.
"No I'm from a noble family that was on my way here" I say as I was grabed by a night who held his sword near my throat"
"Prove it then. Prove that you're from nobility if not then die here for claiming to be part of nobility" said the lady with a smile.
"Lift my shirt and you will see my noble mark" I say as one of the knights lifts it and suddenly starts to shake as he sees it.
"P...please I dare not cause you any tro...trouble" He stammered as he fell backwards.
"So is he a nobility or is he some high criminal that you're scared of?" the lady asked, still unaware of why the knight was scared.
"Shut up woman you dare say things to an Airblace blood" he yells at her as he still tries to crawl backwards.
"Airblace" she said with fear in her eyes "Please forgive me I didn't know you were a son from the Airblace family" she said as she began to shake as her guards themselves fled.
The guard who held his sword to my throat did the same as soon as he saw the guards run.
~What's up with this reaction~ I thought to myself as I rubbed my throat.~ Why are they so scared of the Airblace, well whatever lucky I burn the badge mark on my chest, but it seems to be healing fast.~
"Whatever, don't bug me again" I say as I walk back towards the guild.
