Chapter 2: Chapter Two: Imprisoned

I tapped my hands on my knees. The car wouldn't stop hitting bumps. Now for atleast an hour now, any roads I've seen, were covered in sand. 'So when will you tell me what's going on?'

The man still hasn't given me his name. He simply glanced at me, and looked onward.

Although I probably shouldn't have gone with him, after seeing those large monsters, and lacking food or water, I agreed to go with him. 'So you aren't going to tell me your name either?'

'Dale'

Either he has no last name, or it's just "Dale". Off in the distance, I could see a large structure, a wall I think it is. The man drove up, little ways from the gate, and grabbed a walkie of his dashboard. Pulling it up to his mouth, he pressed a red button and talked.

'It's Dale, open up, got a prisoner.' He let go of the button.

The radio went silent. The came a response. 'Doors open. Hurry up old man.'

After that, the gate came down and Dale drove in. On both sides of the road, were small huts and tents, and the only tall structures I saw, was a radio tower in the center, and watch towers around as well. Peering back at the wall, I saw others atop it patrolling from above. 'Where are you taking me?'

'To our prison.'

'To be a guard' I hoped, but he didn't say anything. 'But what did I do?'

Dale had pulled up to another gate. Looking out his left, he stirred up a conversation with the lady behind the checkpoint.

Not long until she opened the fence gates to let him in. Driving up to a spot and he parked, he got out and signaled me to get out.

Stepping out, I felt wood break on the back of my head, before everything went dark. Opening my eyes, the back of my head had hurt so badly. Rubbing my hand against it, like it'll magically sooth the pain, I stood and looked around. I was in a cell. Iron bars, stone walls, a metal slab of a bed, and a single light above me. 'This is a cell eh?' grabbing the iron bars, they felt cold, like a body frozen over, a man naked in the cold, hardly any warmth held in it. Curious to see if they changed my clothes, I look at it. Before I was in a torn old white t-shirt and sweatpants, now I'm in a baggy orange jumpsuit. Coming to the cell, it was Dale. From out of view, he pulled up a stool and sat on it. Looking at me dead in my eyes, neither one of us said a word. Break the silence, he pulled out a gun, and loaded a fresh magazine in it. I never learned much about guns in reality, but my video game knowledge told me that was a M1911. In games, those packed a punch, but this is reality, and I just saw him load it with live bullets, so I kept quiet.

'No I'm gonna ask some questions,' he lit a cigarette.

'Ok,' I stepped a little away from the cell bars.

'So you say you don't know who you are?'

'I have minor recollection of knowledge of creatures and such, but these new ones I've seen recently aren't like them.'

Dale's brow furrowed. 'I didn't ask that, I said you don't know who you is?'

His english worsened. Was he mocking me perhaps? 'Well no, I don't know my name, neither where I'm from and such.'

Now Dale smiled. 'Better,' he placed his hand on the cell bar and spat out his cigarette, 'Now tell me, did you wake inside a tube like holding unit?'

I feared to tell him the truth. Now he probably had a good guess I did. I mean, how could he not, I emerged from an odd structure, built in basically the middle of nowhere, that burrowed below the surface. 'Nooo-'

He stood quickly and threw his stool aside. 'Don't fuck with me you little shit.'

I fell backwards, and gulped in fear. Getting back to my feet, I looked at Dale, and he didn't seem at all amused.

He once more grabbed the iron bars, as if he wished to smash 'em into tiny pieces. 'Did you? or did you not,' he gritted his teeth.

With a sigh, I nodded yes. 'But why does it matter?'

Raising his gun, he aimed it at me. 'So your one of them then? This'll be good,' he placed his pointer finger on the trigger.

I was panicking. I don't even know why he hates me, but he did say, them. What did he mean by, them? is there others like me out there. Looking down his barrel, I assumed if there were others, he might've killed them.

'Wait!'

A voice came from behind the scenes, and emerging was a man dressed in a blue uniform. 'An officer?'

The man looked at me, then back at Dale. 'Dale , you can't kill a prisoner like this. Do it, and I'll have to place you behind bars.'

Dale dropped the gun, huffed, and walked off.

'Thank you officer, I thought I was a goner!' I basically praised the man, on my knees and bowing and all, like he was a messenger sent by god.

'Part of me wanted to let Dale shoot you.'

And I was scared again. Glancing up, the man unlocked the cell door.

'So since I was an officer in the old world, I'll give you a friend. Think of it as a...' he scratched his goatee, 'A gift, for not resisting.'

I got up, and followed the man. His hair must've been cut short, for his hat perfectly hid it. 'So who's this other prisoner?'

The officer laughed. 'A serial killer.'

My heart was racing. Air felt limited, gasping for it. Then, with my dry lips, I mouthed a phrase.

'This will be fun.'

'A-a-a-a serial kill-l-ler?!' I finally manage to spit it out.

'Yup,' he stopped.

At a sudden, I slammed into his back, so he turned, grabbed my collar, and tossed me in the cell. Getting up, he locked the door and walked away. Looking at the beds, there were two now, one hung above another. on the top, was a body. Moving towards the person, I poked their side, 'H-h-hello there.'

The rolled over and crushed me.

On the ground now, I felt something pressing against my chest. Opening my eyes to look at who feel on me, I was greeted by a beautiful maiden. 'Why hello the-'

She sat up on my stomach, and grabbed my neck.

Gasping for air, I punched her in the chest, but she didn't care. Her hair, a golden brown, and hazel eyes, stunning, but that smile, that grin, it scared me. With my arms going limp, she had let go.

'You pass!"

Jumping up onto my feet, gasping for air. Taking big breathes, I ready my arms to fight back. 'What the hell you mea-' I took another breathe, 'Mean I passed?'

She put her arms to her side, like she was about to boast for a victory she got. 'You'll be my partner.'

'What do you mean? You just tried to kill me for christ sake!' I threw up my arms, in complaint.

'But you lasted longer than my others, so you passed!' She have a beautiful smile, but I really didn't want to be near her.

'Others,' I decided to inquire, but I regret asking her already.

'Oh yes! I've killed at least ten prisoners, just to find me a perfect partner.'

'The officer said you're a serial killer, HOW many did you kill before being imprisoned?'

She took big strides toward me, before grabbing my collar and yanking my face into hers, 'Do you really wanna know?' She grinned.

I looked left and right. No other way out this cell, I slowly nodded. Tossing me into the wall, she leapt backwards.

'Great! Because we're-' she leaned back and whispered into my ear, 'Break out.'

I sighed. What did I get myself into.
