Chapter 10: Then Why?
After Ying Yue left the bathroom, Feng Yu stayed there depressed, scaring off females who actually needed to go to the bathroom.
"Hey, you co-" suddenly the door slammed open from the outside and Zhang Wei came in brandishing a taser stick, "Feng Yu?"
Zhang Wei quickly closed the door behind him before anyone else could see what was happening inside.
"What are you doing here?" Feng Yu asked his friend as he came closer.
"You're asking me? The person who is sitting on the floor in the female bathroom, hugging a pot plant and looking like some sketchy pervert just waiting to jump on an innocent lady?"
Feng Yu just glared at him.
Waving his hand around Zhang Wei quickly dismissed his earlier thought under the cold glare, "Ok maybe the pervert part is just my wild imagination, but it's really hard not to jump to conclusion when there's a grown man in a woman's bathroom. And what's with the pot plant?"
"... It's the last thing I saw Ying Yue touch"
Zhang Wei was flabbergasted. "You're hugging the pot plant just because of that?"
Feng Yu didn't answer. Once again drowning in his own thoughts.
"I came in because some girls went to security and reported a strange man within the bathroom. I came to check it out for the gossip, didn't think it would be you though. Just think of the headlines for tomorrow's news if it was someone else. 'Asia's Youngest Billionaire Camps in Ladies Bathroom'."
There was still no response from Feng Yu who was now sitting against the wall with the pot plant beside him. Zhang Wei threw up his hands exasperated.
"Come on man, this was 5 years ago. Besides, the blame is yours to hold. You divorced her over a clearly photoshopped image"
"I knew it was photoshopped" Feng Yu mumbled into his arm that was wrapped around his knees.
"What? I didn't hear you"
Feng Yu raised his head, leaning his head against the wall. "I knew it was photoshopped before I divorced her".
Now it was Zhang Wei's turn to be silent. . . then he exploded.
"Then why? Why did you divorce her then? Why cause not only one heart to break but two?"
"Because I saw it ok?" Feng Yu yelled back at him before calming back down. "The people at work always talk about her. Even though they keep silent when I was near, I heard. One day on when we were driving to a business meeting, I saw with another man on the street extremely intimate. The man I saw her with was the man in the photo. Despite the photo being photoshopped, it doesn't change the fact that she was with him".
"So you divorced her" it wasn't a question, but a statement.
"Yes"
"You didn't let her explain" but before Feng Yu could say anything he cut in again "No, you let her explain. But you didn't listen". And there was nothing Feng Yu could have said to deny it.
That day he thought he knew what she was already going to say, so he didn't listen. Looking at his friend, Zhang Wei knew Feng Yu understood.
"In reality, you not listening was the problem. It's not a problem that can't be fixed, it's just you're not listening long enough to understand her"
"What are you trying to say?"
Zhang Wei sighed and reached his arm down for Feng Yu, pulling him up. Grabbing his friend's shoulder, he stared right into his eyes.
"I'm telling you to apologise and tell her you love her before it's too late"
"It' already too late. She has moved on" Feng Yu mumbled back.
Now Zhang Wei was stuck, having no idea as to how to encourage his friend further. He may have kept a smiling face on but inside he was thinking up of ideas like crazy.
"So what if she moved on? That doesn't mean she has stopped loving you. In fact, if you apologise to her then among all the men who are chasing her, you have a greater chance of success" Zhang Wei stated excitedly.
For the first time in five years, Feng Yu's eyes lit up in happiness. Zhang Wei watched his friend's expression and was relieved. Thank God, for the first time the nonsense he spouted was actually useful.
