Chapter 11: You are... NOT the Daughter

After visiting hours ended Emilia decides to return home. She was anxious to find out what the males had run off to discuss with the prince… the prince… Emilia sighs. She has to admit that he was very handsome and being mated to someone as attractive as him should be considered a blessing. But she already has Jak and they promised to stay together no matter what. Hot princely mate or not, she wasn't going to betray Jak.

She enters the house and pauses as she hears Winston's voice ring out, "so what if she's not related to us? Who cares if she isn't the biological daughter of our parents? She's a part of this family!" Emilia stays completely still as she continues to listen in.

"That's for her to decide, not you. Tell her the truth and then see if she still sees you as family." Dietrich retorts. "Of course she will. And she won't be going off to your territory with you. This is her home and she belongs here." Winston insists. "Again. That is for HER to decide. Not YOU. You are the people who took her from her real family AND kept her hidden away here so that nobody would find out about your sins." Dietrich explains in an irritated tone. "Why don't you ask her how she feels about it right now?" He adds. Winston laughs, "You want me to interrupt her visit with our injured brother to break her heart and destroy her mind? No thanks."

Having heard enough, Emilia calmly enters the room. "My visit ended a while ago actually." She says and raises her hand in the air to silence Winston before he can make excuses. "I heard everything. So, you guys kidnapped me? And now you're trying to decide whether or not you'll allow me to go back to my biological parents… Is that right, Sam?" She asks coldly.

A strange glint appeared in Emilia's eyes as she spoke, making her look like a completely different person. Sam gulps and averts his eyes. Emilia turns to Winston, "Well? Am I wrong?" Winston hesitates before replying. "W-well… I know how it might look right now Em but I swear it's not as it seems! This guy is trying to take you away from us! Away from your friends! Away from Jak! Away from your family!" He shouts and then falters, realizing his mistake a moment too late. "My FAMILY? The family you're referring to is the same one who kidnapped me and lied to my face for twenty years!" She shouts back, the beginning of a snarl rumbling in her voice.

Dietrich stands up and gently rubs Emilia's back to calm her. "Hey now, deep breaths." He says in an uncharacteristically gentle voice. Emilia growls at him to back off. "I'm not going with you nor am I staying here. And before you try to complain or counter, I'll remind you that it's MY decision." She says before stomping out of the room, the house, and running over to Jak's place.

She knocks on his door erratically, praying that he answers. He opens the door and she immediately jumps into his arms. Jak says quiet and sets her down. "You won't believe what just happened! Not only am I not related to the alpha but they actually kidnapped me when I was a newborn! And Prince Dietrich wants to take me back to my real family. Let's pack our things and run away Jak! We can just live together, away from all of their lies and be happy!" Emilia says in a rushed tone.

She looks over to Jak and tilts her head. "Jak? Did you hear me? Let's pack up and leave." She repeats. Jak silently and gently pushes her onto the couch. He sighs and turns away from her. "Listen Emilia… There's a lot going on right now. Like way too much. And I'm not leaving this pack. I'm staying here, where I belong." He says. Emilia lifts an eyebrow at him, "Okay so we stay? That's fine if it's what you want to do. Why the weird reaction though?" Jak sighs and uses his hand to scuff up his hair. "Emilia, there is no WE. You need to go to your real family and just forget all about me. It was fine when it was just us but you have too much drama going on for me. I don't want to be part of all that. And you said we could run away together? Yeah right! What would we even do? You can't even hunt properly, you've never been in a real fight, and you believe everything you're told. You're nothing but a naive little girl and to make matters worse, you're supposed to be a royal! Ha!" He says with a sneer.

Emilia feels the tears beginning to well up in her eyes, she wants to fight back, wants to say he's just lying because he's stressed out. But she knows Jak better than anyone, he means every word he uttered just now. Instead of responding or allowing him to see her cry, Emilia punches Jak in the face and leaves.

Unsure of where to go or what to do, she returns to her bedroom for some solace and alone time. However, fate seemed to be fucking with her as she spots a pair of familiar golden eyes staring at her from her bed. He silently stands up and gently wipes away her tears. "It's alright, I know. Just let it out and don't worry about anything else. Scream and hit me if you must, just get it all out." He says gently. "This doesn't mean I'll accept you as my mate…" She whispers defiantly. "That's fine. You need time, I never once expected you to just accept everything. It's easy for anyone to see that you don't need a mate right now. Just tell me what you do need and I'll take care of it." He responds calmly.

Emilia sobs loudly in Dietrich's embrace, happy to have someone on her side and willing to understand how she feels. She cried and cried until there were no tears left to fall. Then she moves away from her mate and looks him in the eyes. "I won't be with you. But I will accept your help. If you're willing?" She asks. Dietrich nods his head. "Of course. We don't have to be anything more or less than you want. It's up to you. As for helping you, just name it and I'll make it happen." He says stoically. "First, we will return to my real family. On the way there I want you to train me. Teach me about hunting and fighting. But don't go easy on me. I need to learn everything I can as fast as I can." She says. "Hmm, I'm fine with all of that but… why does it seem like you already know what to expect? I'm sure Alpha Snow said you'd been kept away from hearing anything about the outside world." He asks with curiosity.

"It's because I've been kept away from it all that I know I need to learn and compensate for the things I'm lacking. Oh right, what's my real name? I suppose I should learn it and become accustomed to it if people start calling me differently." She adds. He tilts his head a bit, trying to think of how to respond. "Well, from what I know about your family… they never got the chance to choose a first name for you but you do have a surname, Rose." He explains while watching her face for a reaction.

"I see. I suppose I'll be Emilia Rose then. Not too bad. Now let's get ready to go." She says as she grabs a suitcase and starts rummaging through her closet. "Well Emilia, I'm not sure how to say this nicely… but you should probably shower first. Roses are nice and it definitely fits you but showing up as a blood soaked rose probably isn't a great way to reunite with your true parents." He laughs slightly.

Emilia tilts her head and looks in the mirror. She had completely forgotten that she was still covered in Timothy's blood. She facepalms and then moves toward her bathroom, pausing for a moment to give Dietrich a look that says, 'don't you dare try to look in here.' Then she rushes into the bathroom and takes a quick shower, being extra careful to ensure all signs of blood are completely removed from her hair and body.

After her shower is complete, Emilia gets dressed and exits the bathroom. She silently packs all of her belongings and throws out anything that will remind her of her life here. Emilia finishes up her preparations and throws her things into a car that Dietrich had called up to help with their move. She looks back at Dietrich, asking a silent question and then two shift and take off towards their new destination. A new life was about to begin for Emilia, sooner than she realized…
