Aiden nodded.

"Yup..."

Zane cleared his throat awkwardly.

"I apologize for my insensitive words."

"Apology accepted."

The two pure-blood vampires sat together in silence for a few minutes before Aiden spoke up again, "In the past, you helped me a lot. I never got around to saying thank you."

"Oh."

Unpleasant memories when Aiden made Zane waddle through the most fascinating brothel in Dominion did not improve Zane's mood at all.

"No need to say thanks," he replied.

"If ever you need me to do anything, just tell me," Aiden said. "You can rely on me. I will help you to the extent of my ability."

Zane shot Aiden a weak smile.

"Thanks, cousin."

"Well, the night is getting late. I should go," Aiden said. "What about you?"

"Let me just look at the stars for a bit longer," Zane said. "I want to rearrange my thoughts before retreating for the night."

Aiden nodded.

"Okay. Good night, Zane."

Zane raised his wine glass in Aiden's direction.

"Good night, Aiden."
