Izabella and Ryan knew that they were going to be betrothed to each other long before they actually met in person.

It was the time when men and women were paired up according to their families' arrangements. Vampires too adhered to this rule to create bonds between families, particularly two pure-blood families.

Ryan still remembered the first time he saw Izabella.

She was the most beautiful creature he had ever seen during that time, even more beautiful than average female vampires.

Having earned their families' blessings, falling in love was a matter of time. Ryan thought that he was going to be very happy with Izabella. Apparently, Izabella did not share the same thought.

When Ryan had one foot up the rooftop, the first thing he saw was Izabella, who was climbing up a rope ladder that hung from a helicopter.

Two gunshots later, Izabella fell to the ground with a yelp. The helicopter had no other choice but to leave.
