Chapter 20: The Trenches.

5 Hours Later

Matsuno and his men waited with their rifles, ready to have the catridge in the rifle and fire. Matsuno would grip his binoculars before placing them in front of his eyes, just staring and waiting for a sign of them approaching. Finally, there was smoke that began to appear from afar, maybe 4 kilometers away. Matsuno turned to one of the message carriers, saying to him,

"Light the firework send out the signal. Today, there shall be a lot of blood shed."

The man quickly bowed before running to the firework mounted to the ground to ready to show a signal. Quickly, he took out a match, lighting it before placing it towards the ignition. Then.. it flew up to the atmosphere before exploding, signaling that the enemy was close.

Artillerymen POV:

The Artilleryman quickly opened the hatch with the loader setting the 20lb shell in before closing it. The gunner ran up before making sure everything was right on the elevations, even with the officer. The Armstrong Guns would be ready with the 20lb guns sounding off with the shells flying breaking the peace. The shells would twirl and twirl in the air before exploding in the impact of the ground.

Matsuno's POV:

He looked to see only red mists with the powerful 20lb shells impacting on their target, causing mayhem upon the Shogunate.

Then.. the other battery fired with case shots and high explosive shells impacting the ground with the formations of the shogunate starting to scatter, forcing them to move forward, needing to already attack and stop the problem which was causing this to happen.

The Shogunate calvary would be sent with them starting to rush forward closer and closer... being about 1,800 yards away.. Finally, the traps would begin with barbed wire traps finally being used, causing the calvary men to fall due to either being the first ones or their fellow comrades' steeds pushing them to the barbed wirepits causing the suffering of many soldiers and horses.

Though something more chaotic happened with a forward sniper setted up with a Type 68 attached with a scope. The sniper loaded the catridge before bolting it in the barrel, and then he pulled the trigger where flammable oil would be laying in a line that lay flammable oil on the barbed wire. The bullet struck with the oil lighting on fire quickly spreading about to the lit where men and horses screamed, stuck with broken bones and open wounds.

The Shogunate forces saw this in such terror pissing off the leaders, which sent the order to start moving up their riflemen to quickly erase the force off the ground. Marching began with the men marching in order and such with their uniforms waving the Shogunate Banner almost about 1,372 out of the already wiped out calvary force.

Company A would rise on the firing steps waiting before finally when they were at the range of 1,600 yards, they began firing with bullets flying mostly hitting due to the large mass of men marching in formation that started to be ripped apart slowly bit by bit.

Then, the left flank fired from above, firing their Chassepots tearing the formations from above, causing the panic of the riflemen and the 10lb Parrot Rifles.. they fired with shrapnel shot firing from above, causing formations to fall apart from the side. Then.. they started to charge....
