Chapter 3: Chapter Three

"You did what?" Olivia exclaimed as she raised her voice in surprise over the video call after hearing of Emma's newly made plans. She quickly covered her mouth and looked around knowing it was late and she was trying not to wake anyone in the family of the house she was staying at.

"Emma you can't just go somewhere you don't know with someone you don't know, stranger danger is not just a cute rhyming phrase you tell kids" she scolded in a hushed tone.

Emma placed her phone down in a stand on the dresser, she pulled out her clothes looking through what she had in the drawers to see what she would bring along for the trip, "I know but he was really nice about the expensive swan breaking so I figured… Did I mention it was expensive?" She repeated her words after letting go of any other reason. Knowing even she knew the reason she said yes didn't help the idea of it all.

She didn't even need to look over to her cousin to know she was shaking her head in disapproval. She was only waiting for her response at this point which she could tell by the delay and her silence she was debating on what she would say without yelling.

"You need to tell him you won't go, that's just too strange Emma" she finally responds.

Emma chuckled as she looked back to her cousin, "I can't he took his card back when I gave him my number" She responds having not noticed it until later herself that she had no way to ask what time they would be getting on the plane or where she was going.

Olivia huffed shaking her head with how Emma seemed to know what she had done and was fine with this, "Then when is he going to contact you?" she questioned sounding more like a concerned parent rather than a cousin close to her own age.

"I don't know mom…" She mocked her cousin's concern for her as she was brushing it off. Though it wasn't as if she wasn't exactly thinking the same, deep down. She knew she was a little concerned with what she had pushed herself to do but she didn't want to think of the possible bad outcomes it could lead to. Since he didn't seem to be the type after all to do such a thing.

Before her cousin could reply she picked up her dress and looked over to Olivia showing off the one he had bought her. Recalling that she hadn't actually shown her since she hung up the phone right after she fell onto Nathan.

"Look" she cheered.

"He-Oh that's pretty" she exclaimed, forgetting what she was about to say being distracted with the beauty of the dress.

"Isn't it?" She agreed while making the bottom of the dress move to show how it caught the light, "It was the dress I got when I fell into him" She adds knowing it was something to point out since he was very nice to her about it.

"So you bought it after all?" She scoffed, "I would have assumed you would have let it go being too embarrassed and all" she teased lightly.

"Yes, and no. He bought it for me before we went and got lunch" She explained with a grin almost gloating about the gift she had received from a total stranger.

Though Olivia was not as impressed with the fact that he bought it for her seeing as she really wasn't too keen on the idea of Emma going out of town with this man, "Girl, he's a serial killer and that's your candy" She bluntly scolded her as she couldn't believe Emma would be so easily swayed by such a thing.

Emma huffed while placing the dress down on her bed, "He is not" She responds annoyed with how her cousin was treating this news. "He's a very charming yet busy man who needs help with his family issues" She responds in spite of what Olivia suggested.

"Mhm, you're not over fantasizing that he will fall in love with you are you? Do you even remember his name?" she inquired with a judging tone.

Emma scoffed, clicking her tongue as she was accused of romanticizing it all, "No, this is going to just be a business thing" She denied before giving a moment of silence as she tried to think of what he said his name was, "Nathan- something christmassy sounding, I don't know it was on the card." she grumbled, pushing the fact that she didn't know the name off as if it wouldn't matter.

Olivia rolled her eyes giving a slight groan, no longer playing with the idea of taunting her, seeing as Emma didn't seem to be even debating the idea of not going, she was more worried. "So you can't even look him up or tell me who he is." She grumbled moving her hand through her hair, "Emma I really don't think you should go on this trip with a random stranger to a place you don't even know" She advised knowing ultimately Emma was going to do whatever it was she wanted to do in the end. She only hoped she would heed her advice and let this crazy idea go.

Emma smiled while she knew why Olivia was worried, she was already thinking about how she could settle both of their worries. Picking up her phone looking directly into the camera as she sat down on the bed.

"Look, Itll be fine it's not like I can't text you his name later. I'll even send you his number and where we're going so if I go missing you can come find me with all the army you want to bring." She informed her, trying to ease both their worries.

"If you're not in a shallow grave first…" Olivia muttered in response not showing any sign of giving. Olivia was quiet for a moment, unable to look back to the camera for a little while as she thought about everything that Emma suggested, knowing that it was true. If she gave her all the information then she wouldn't need to worry as much since they could double check who he was.

"Olivia?" Emma questioned waiting for her attention to be brought back to her before she spoke, "I want to do this, even if it's fake I would like to enjoy this experience of traveling and meeting new people" She adds giving her reasons for saying yes.

Olivia let out a big sigh looking at her cousin who was practically begging her to go. She knew Emma had been left out more recently since her engagement with Rick, though she couldn't help but believe Emma was setting herself up for disappointment. "Write your new dress for me in your will before you go" she conceded.

Emma couldn't help but smile as she was still pushing the idea of Nathan being some dangerous man, "Shut up" she chuckled.
