Chapter 13: Chapter 13

"Let's finish this shall we?" With those words, Darien brought Dawnbreaker above his head, the light from the sword shone much brighter.

Max, who sensed the danger, dismissed the Phantasm as the area vanished like it never existed as only the bones of the skeletons were left.

Then the Tyrant exhaled a black smoke that enveloped its whole body. Then golden markings started appearing on its armor.

"Face the burdensome sun."

"Submit to the endless edges twinned." Darien chanted as the glow on the sword became brighter and brighter.

"Dawnbreaker!" And he swung his sword with all his might.

Two forces collided with an explosion that caused a blinding light. Everyone including Max this time closed their eyes.

When they opened once more, they saw a big crater where they collided. There Darien stood with his sword held up high but there was a spear piercing his shoulder now.

In case of the Tyrant, it was starting to crumble. First its armor fell off, followed by its bones and then finally the horse.

Darien grabbed the spear and yanked it off. Then the spear crumbled too.

"That takes care of that." He said without minding the gruesome hole in his shoulder.

"Awesome!"

"Do that again!"

"Did somebody record that?"

"I got it! I got Max too!"

"Nice!"

The players were going crazy. 'Phew. Thankfully somebody recorded it. My efforts weren't for nothing. Let's hope that I will be known alongside Darien too.' Max thought.

"Thank you for your help Darien. We would have been annihilated without you." Isran said. "And this made me realize that I have grown too complacent with myself."

"No, it's not your fault. Who would have known that there would be a Tyrant among the skeleton army? Don't be too hard on yourself. I have to leave now, can I leave the rest to you?"

"Yeah. Take care of your injuries."

Then Darien whistled as the bird who was circling around the Fort came swooping down as Darien jumped on top of it and left towards Horizon.

"Rest for a while. We will leave in five hours." Then Leopold said to his group which included Max.

The group followed his orders as everyone found a place to sit and rest in the Fort. Meanwhile Leopold left with Isran to a closed room where they discussed the aftermath and they left the Fort together with the players who trailed right behind them.

"That was too reckless of you Max." Leopold said.

"I know. But I had to do it." Replied Max.

"No. You didn't have to. You must have had your considerations behind your choice but always calculate the risks. Never go unprepared. You were right on the line between life and death there. If the Tyrant had even a single interest in killing you, Darien wouldn't be able to stop it." Loepold berated.

"I understand captain. It won't happen again." Max replied with conviction. Hopefully after this situation, he wouldn't have to make a show in front of the players anymore.

Their return to Horizon passed without any troubles as they entered through the gates.

The rest went to their houses as only Max and Leopold entered the Drunken Huntsman.

Adrian came running downstairs once he sensed their return. "Leopold! I told you not to bring that cursed kid!"

"How many times do I have to say it you senile old man! It's not my fault!" Max said as he thought, 'Luck is my highest stat damnit!'

"There is no other explanation you damn kid! Monster outbreaks happen everywhere! A plague spread through the city! A minotaur and then a fucking Tyrant appeared in vicinity! And all of this started happening ever since you got here!" Adrian yelled while he pointed with his finger.

The rest of the hunters who were drinking in the bar nodded their heads when they heard Adrian's accusing.

Then, Max pointed towards Adrian with his finger as he said, "Just because you are correct, doesn't mean you are right!"

The room was enveloped in silence for a moment as everyone tried to process the words that has just been said.

"Wakanda bullshit is that?!"

Someone yelled as the argument grew even amongst the hunters as a group thought what Max said made sense and the other group thought of it as bullshit.

In the midst of it, Leopold silently withdrew to his room.

Soon, chairs, tables and glasses flew around as the fight grew and the two responsible for it slowly went upstairs to the laboratory.

"Phew. Didn't expect it to grow that much." Max said as he heaved a sigh of relief.

"Tch What did you expect? You bring chaos wherever you go." Adrian grumbled.

"Oh stop whining and act like your age old man. Anyways, what are we learning this time?" Max replied.

And Adrian grumbled with annoyance under his breath, "…Damn kids these days. No respect for their elders." Then he asked, "You just got back and you still want to have a lesson without resting?"

"Yeah. I rested on the way."

"Fine. Let's learn about reinforcement today. Seeing as you like using projections and the projections of your swords are ridiculously close to that of a real sword, I think it will be much more of use to you." He stopped for a bit as he said, "Oh make no mistake reinforcement is not only used in projection but also in everything. It reinforces an object to make it better at what it does. Including but not limited to projections, body enhancement, you want the food to be tastier and healthier? Bam, reinforcement does that." Adrian added.

'Why does this sound a lot like a sales pitch?' Max thought. "Great! How do I use that?" But of course he didn't say that out loud.

"It is simple. Use Structural Grasp on an object and just inject mana into the gaps in the molecules. It not only makes the blades more durable, it also makes them sharper. But be cautious as injecting more mana than what the item can handle will make it explode. You don't wanna be hit in the face by a magicus explosius."
