Chapter 2: TWO SOULS

"I hope you rot in hell!"

"This is the perfect ending for you!"

"Die! Die! Die!"

"For the freedom of the people!"

"For the new King and Queen!"

The loud voices of the people keep echoing through Adrianne's ears. Her consciousness was already up and yet her eyes don't seem to open. She was stuck in this state for too long that she, herself, couldn't count how many days was it already.

The heck, as if this could even do anything to her. The voices were just starting to irritate her as the moment passed. Didn't they know that their voices are ugly? The cow's sounds are even far better than what those peasants have.

After days and days of waiting, the bright and dazzling light greeted Adrianne. Her eyes were now fully open as the vast white of color was unending. The fiery flames and the hell that she was expecting from the very start were nowhere to be seen. All she could see was the eternal sight of nothingness.

Standing up, she took a step, walking all over. She was lost in this place— A place that didn't have any direction and time. What kind of place did she end up with? She was expecting to see hell, the other side of the world where evil like here was supposed to be.

'Is this what heaven looks like?' She asked herself, confused by all the things she was seeing.

Adrianne continued to saunter, counting in her mind to know how many seconds and hours have already passed. Five days… five days went on slowly as she became tired from walking. She couldn't even believe that she can stay in this place without doing anything.

Heck, before she died, the most important thing for her was time. As she can have no control over it, Adrianne sees it as the most valuable thing in the world. She can not buy time nor create one. Just like now, she can't command the time to go back to the date before she died.

Sitting on the floor, her eyes roamed around the room. She was already exhausted, yet her surroundings did not change. Adrianne seemed to be in the same place all over again. She's in the midst of emptiness, without living creatures. Hmm... It was a limbo, perhaps?

She was confused if this is the rightful punishment for all the things that she had done. To be locked up in a room that has no time and direction? To roam around mindlessly? To be nothing and to become nothingness? To be stuck in this infinite limbo-ish environment?

How about the people she had promised to take avenge for? How can she do that if she was locked up in this room! It couldn't be! Even if their hearts were wrapped up by terror caused by her, it still had no use if she couldn't do what she promised in the first place.

She couldn't stay in this place forever. She should find a way out. But then, how could she look for a way out when all she could see and hear was emptiness? White was all that was there, nothing less, nothing more.

A glint of hope rose when she heard a sound coming from her left side. It was a girl's cry that made her stunned in place. One of the rarest moment where she was happy and overwhelmed at the sudden sound that it made her stand up.

She roamed her eyes, around her left side was a young girl who caught her attention. The girl was sitting on the floor, hugging her bent knees while tears continuously streamed down her soft cheeks.

The child's body was surrounded by a visibly bright light, and she was sure that the kid was like her— A soul from a body that was already dead.

"Who are you?" Adrianne was the first one to speak up.

The sudden cold tone of her voice made the kid surprised. Looking at her, Adrianne could clearly see the tears pooling in the little girl's round eyes. Her lips were rose in color as her hair was darker than the night.

The child was pretty, there were no doubts about that. But thinking of it, she was prettier when she was a child, Rollin her eyes, Adrianne surveyed the child thoroughly.

"M-Miss, who are you?" The girl looked at me with so much adoration, wiping the tears that are pouring off her cheeks. "Are you my guardian angel?" She continued to ask, taking a step closer to go near her.

Adrianne was puzzled at what the little girl asked her. Guardian angel? What the heck is that?! For a Queen like her, who has a high ranking in terms of education. She was surprised to know the new word.

"Do you know where we are?" Adrianne asked the girl who was looking at her eyes innocently.

She sighed, not minding the question asked by the child. It's more important to know whether this girl was conscious of the place they were currently in. She needs to know the full details of where she was to find a way to return to her place, in her kingdom.

And to make those people pay for insulting and killing her.

"We are in heaven, Miss. Didn't you know this place? My nanny said that those people who are dead would go here. And then we will eventually become an angel like my mommy!" The girl excitedly exclaimed even though a flash of sadness can be seen in both of her eyes.

"But then, why is my mommy not yet here? Doesn't she love me anymore?" The girl's eyes went down, crying in grief again as she realized that her mom is not here. "Miss, can you help me find my mommy? I'm sure she's just here waiting for me!"

Adrianne took a deep breath, trying to calm herself down. Bending her knees to have the same height as the child, she then placed her hand on the kid's shoulder to stop her from crying as it was annoying her.

Adrianne asked, "Do you remember how you got here?!" She found it very strange that she was in here, in heaven. She knew that all of the evil deeds she had done would surely send her into hell. Or maybe Fusaika, the keeper of the hell didn't even want her? After all from all the things she has done, she would surely replace their God.

The girl nodded at her question, opening her small mouth to reveal the cause of her death.

"I-I was sitting near our pool… when suddenly my auntie pushed me away… She's bad! She didn't save me when she knows I'm drowning! She was the one who pushed me!" The girl cried out, looking at her with a pained expression.

Adrianne was shocked to see a cloud of black smoke coming out of the girl's body for a second as it eventually disappeared into thin air. With the new information that she notices, she looked at her hands, and in there, she saw the same black smoke surrounding her hands.

They were both dead, but then this little kid's body was surrounded by white smoke, while hers were covered in dark smoke that was different from the child.

At that moment, Adrianne was sure that the smoke came from the inner desire of a person. The one that she noticed on the kid's body was because of her anger. Anger, that originated from the main reason why the kid was dead and now with her.

Same as with her. The smoke coming out from her body was originated from her death as well.

"Abi!" A loud voice caught their attention.

Looking in the voice's direction, Adrianne saw a closed wooden door that was not located there earlier. Excitement spreads throughout her body, thinking that it was finally a passage on her way back to her kingdom.

The girl took her hand as they walked together towards the wooden door. Adrianne opened the door, revealing a middle-aged man hugging a kid that was lying on the bed. The man was crying continuously, while white-clothed people were on the side looking unhappy about the situation.

"Daddy!" Her eyes went to the girl's side, hearing her sudden loud voice.

"Abi, sweetie, wake up, please… daddy is here… I'm here. Please wake up now, darling. " The man cried out, hugging the child's unbreathing body. Adrianne can clearly see how the guy's eyes turned slightly red due to his excessive crying. Yet the child lying down in the bed was already unconscious and not breathing.
