Chapter 7: Power Comes First
Mattheo glanced his surroundings once more. Not only had the cave been empty, its entrance had an amazing view to perch himself by. The cave being empty was still the best part though. His effort to settle down would be reduced greatly. Also, the entrance was obscure enough to be considered 'secret' among his feral neighbors, so he had been put into quite a fortunate position.
Away from the danger called dimensional collapse, he could now begin to cultivate his abyssal energy and magic steadily. With the Observer, Mattheo could also see into the depths of his memory to perfectly replicate his past actions and techniques. Although humans and such races would cultivate themselves thoroughly as magical conduits, demons were different. By absorbing abyssal energy their ability to use magic would also grow.
Mattheo took his bag from over his shoulders and placed it onto the ground. Reaching in, his hand came out with vials exactly like what he had drank from in the temple. The black liquid swished and swoshed in the vial as he stared indifferently at it. Gulping down one vial, his stomach felt warmer. As if a fire had been lit to power him, he also felt as though he were suffused with more strength.
Not having checked himself out since the moment he reincarnated, he called for the Observer to analyze him as well as anything else it could glean info on. He would need a lot more information to proceed with his plans.

3 things stood out. First, Mattheo had successfully breached the threshold to become a greater fiend. After this he would take on a split in evolution. What this means is that he will be able to turn into an improved variant of the Lycanthrope as well as attain the demon class "Lesser Demon". This system was usually confusing to most, but the ranking system worked like so: Fiend Class<Demon Class<Lord Class.
A fiend class demon was usually able to only take on small villages by themself, while a demom class could take on a small country. But lord class were the rarest and naturally strongest type, leading the armies of darkness as generals for their gods, they stood at the pinnacle of their race as peerless beings. However, Mattheo's "contractor" was rather powerful, and had brought about 3 lord class demons, needless to say this is what pressured the gods of light.
The second thing that stood out was his influence. Apparently this was caused by his own entering into the world, as him being a demon he could control, it technically counted towards his influence.
The third was the most confusing bit. "Inhabitants are mostly demons". This meant that something other than his fellow evil-doers operated here in some way. It is possible that some animals is what was referred to, but animals that can stand against a demon were almost none.
What he wanted to do first was be able to cultivate magic, and to do so required him to be at least a Lesser Demon class. Not hesitating, Mattheo drank another of the vials. Immediately he was advised by the Observer.

Mattheo immediately chose the first option. Why would he, an ex-extremely powerful mage want to go sucking on blood like some madman!? And what the hell was the chimera, is this an upgrade or a lottery?! Choosing the option, he blanked out. In a second it had been done, or so he thought. Immediately the sun which was in the sky had been replaced by the moon.
Doing this clearly had its own sort of effects. In this case it was the period of time his inactivity would last, who knew, maybe multiple days have passed in that moment? Looking down, Mattheo noticed he had shrunk to some degree, but by no means did he feel weaker. His bulging muscles were probably tenfold of what he previously had. Flexing, his arms felt like they could spring knocking down a whole tower down in one punch.
This sort of strength was surely godlike to many mortals, but the truth was it was anything but that. This was just the extent of divine warfare, even the forces of light have their champions capable of similar things, possibly even more!
Mattheo though, knew his potential outshined that of theirs. He would grow and actually become a god! Oh how luxurious his life would be then. Hanging out wherever gods did, he would have finally escape his mortality. Such a dream was beyond his reach though. He would have to do much in order to achieve it.
Mattheo chucked the rest of his vials. Once more he felt slight growth, he was most likely now at the Demon class, surpassing Lesser Demon. Advancing from now on wouldn't be easy. Without the massive energy provided by vials, he wouldn't reach Greater Demon class without much slaughter. He pondered everything while flexing his muscles unwittingly, he clearly enjoyed this form too much... But tomorrow, he was going to practice his specialization, magic! Mattheo entered the cave once again and slept.
