Chapter 24: Arc 2: I
The truth to Her Reality
Feng Jiu gasped. She opened her eyes and sat up from the bed. She held her chest. It is aching and when she blinked her eyes, there were tears. Her face is also soaked with her tears. Her heart hurts. She never felt this kind of pain before. There are body pains too and she wondered what happened to her. She shook her head to clear it. She tried to remember what happened to her but she still feels disoriented.
She slowly scanned her surroundings. Her eyes widened and she gasped. She can't believe that this is happening to her. Then she heard soft footsteps then she saw her grandfather, her father, Zhe Yan and her fourth uncle. Worry is etched in the faces of the four men present in her bedroom. Then Feng Jiu heard her grandfather spoke cautiously,
"Xiaojiu. Do you know who we are? "
She slowly nodded. She closed her eyes when realization sank in her consciousness. The realization of what happened to her is coming down and pounding on her... Bai Feng Jiu just had her love trial and ascension at the same time back in the mortal realm with the use of her own body.
Now she's back in Qing Qiu and she reached the level of a goddess. She's more powerful now compared to her high immortal status before but her ascension and love trial is so excruciatingly painful that she can't discern from reality to a dream. Or is it really just a dream? Feng Jiu became frantic when all the memories from her trial came back rushing in her thoughts. Her breath started to get laboured and she sobbed. She held her head with both hands its as if she's going to get crazy.
No matter how much she tried closing her eyes, the onslaught and the weight of her trial, she remembered them all. She saw all, and most especially, she really did experience them all. The pain, longing, happiness, sadness and betrayal rolled in one and Feng Jiu doesn't know how to cope up with all these feelings she just felt for the very first time in her immortal life. Then she suddenly remembered she lost someone and that someone is her baby and her best friend Ye Qing Ti. Feng Jiu released a heartbreaking sob while still holding her head. Then she whispered pitifully,
"Make it stop. Please make it stop. It is so painful. My memories...my experience...please make it stop... "
The four men witnessed how the youngest Bai broke down in front of them and they became frantic too. Bai Zhi and Bai Yi sat on each side of Xiaojiu while Bai Zhen just stood frozen and shocked watching his cheerful niece broke down easily. Bai Zhen raised Xiaojiu and he knew that his niece is brave and has the tenacity to withstand the trial but he is not sure anymore. What Bai Zhen is sure is that something happened to Feng Jiu in her trial that is not supposedly going to happen and he needs to find it out.
Zhe Yan on the other hand just stood watching the pitiful state Feng Jiu is at the moment. He wondered why the female born in the Bai Clan is subject to intense kind of trial. The almighty and fate is being cruel to the Bai females and they witnessed it first when Bai Qian had her love trial to Ye Hua and later on ascended to High Goddess. Ascension is the hardest test that an immortal wants to pass. A lot of immortals cultivate to ascend but only a few survived. Most immortals who survived ascended by thunderbolts and some undergo to mortal trial. Zhe Yan is interested in how the youngest Bai survived her ascension but with a high price to pay. Zhe Yan took pity of Feng Jiu and conjured a magic to forcefully sedate her. Feng Jiu has fallen back asleep. Zhe Yan used again his magic to scan Xiaojiu and he was very disturbed and surprise on what he found out.
"What is it? " It was Bai Zhi who asked.
"I don't know what happened to Xiaojiu's mortal trial but she had... A miscarriage."
"What?!!! " Both Bai Yi and Bai Zhi stood shocked and angry. They don't really know why this bizarre thing is happening to the Bai women.
"Is that the reason why Xiaojiu broke down when she woke up? " It is Bai Zhen who asked.
Bai Yi wanted to cry seeing how her daughter nearly got crazy after waking up from her trial. He is happy and proud that his baby ascended to a goddess but the price to pay is the sanity of his Xiaojiu. He is worried that his daughter can't recover from her ordeal in the mortal realm.
"Father, please allow me to go to the nine heavens. I'll personally see Star-Lord Siming and check the mortal trial of Xiaojiu."
"No, Bai Yi. Let me go in your stead. The Sky Kingdom will be alarmed if the King of QingQiu visited them suddenly. "
Bai Yi sat realizing that what Zhe Yan said rang the truth. He heavily sighed. He doesn't want to lose his daughter because of her ascension.
"I will make a concoction to heal her physical body. She'll heal slowly but you know I can't heal her broken heart... Even her mind. "
Bai Yi doesn't like what he is thinking but seeing his daughter a while ago, he better chose to cheat on his daughter than let her continue to suffer the unfathomable experience she had that better be left forgotten. Bai Yi looked at Zhe Yan and said,
"Zhe Yan. Feed her the amnesia potion."
This time Bai Zhi and Bai Zhen reacted violently.
"Are you thinking straight Er Gu? " Bai Zhen said.
Bai Yi released a frustrated sigh, he stood and faced his fourth brother and father.
"I will not let the trial of my daughter ruin her happy and innocent disposition. I'm afraid she can't recover from what she experienced back in the mortal realm. Have you seen her a while ago after she gained her memories? She looks like she's going to be insane!"
Bai Zhen and Bai Zhi keep their silence. Bai Yi has a very good point. The four men looked at the sleeping Xiaojiu and felt very sad.
"How about this. We'll decide later on if we will feed her the amnesia potion after we will learn what happened to her love trial and ascension back in the mortal realm. I'll go with Zhe Yan in the nine heavens to investigate this trial of Xiaojiu. "
The four men agreed then Bai Zhi said,
"In the meantime, we will keep Xiaojiu sedated until we decided what to do to her after your visit to the Sky Kingdom. "
The four men nodded and they agreed with this while eyeing the not so peaceful face of the sleeping Feng Jiu.

Star-Lord Siming is in a pinch. The Diety that is in charge of the fates of the mortals is very troubled. He sat looking down at the two scrolls on his table and kept on contemplating on what to do. He's been sleepless for the past 3 days now and tried his might in looking for the connection on the two identical-looking scrolls but in the end, he is still ended with a blank case. This case is a first for him and as much as he wanted to disturb his majesty, for now, he can't. His majesty is busy with an important business that needs his undivided attention and he dare not disturb him. Siming sighed and rubbed his temples. What should I do, what should I do? He thought. Then one of his stewards came, bowed and said,
"Star-Lord. You have some highly important guest that wants to have an audience with you"
"What did I say the last time? " Siming said a little bit irritated.
"Not to disturb you. But the guest is High god Zhe Yan and High god Bai Zhen. " the steward replied.
"Why didn't you say so? Let them come in. It's so embarrassing we made two high gods wait. "
Siming stood and frantically rolled the scrolls and hid them with the use of his magic. Then he looked down on himself and checked if he looks presentable. When he was satisfied with how he looks, he cleared his throat and made himself look relaxed while waiting for his guests.
There, he saw the two high gods came in. Looking at the faces of high gods Bai Zhen and Zhe Yan, he have a guess what their urgent matter that they want to discuss with him... It's the young Princess Bai Feng Jiu's trial.
The two high gods paid their respects and then Siming led them to sit on the dais. When the three sat already Zhe Yan started to speak,
"I presume you know why we came and visit you today Star-Lord. "
Siming nodded and replied,
"Yes high god Zhe Yan. I have an inkling of the reason you paid me a visit today. "
"So we will not waste on more formalities but we are here to inquire about Feng Jiu's trial back in the mortal realm. "
Bai Zhen said in which Siming nodded his head. He sighed. He knew the Bai family will not sit and just wait this out.
"Three weeks ago, Bai Zhi Dijun came to me and told me that he wants to arrange a trial for the young princess. There are two conditions Bai Zhi Dijun laid for the princess trial and those are to leave the princess fate blank and let fate decide on how it will unfold and lastly, kept her immortal form with her when she undergoes the trial. Simple as that. But fate thinks this is too simple for the young highness. "
Siming has a strict rule when it comes to the scrolls he is safeguarding, not let anyone see or read the contents of it but he'll make an exception today. He and princess Feng Jiu know each other and when he read what happened to her mortal trial, he can't fall asleep. He knew it'll leave a deep impact on the princess and he'll help her in any way without compromising his job as the deity in-charge of the mortal fates.
"We deduced what happened to Feng Jiu when she woke up 3 days ago and we waited for her to calm down or get her bearings back but every time she's awake, she's only going to cry and worst, she's asking for her unborn child." Bai Zhen explained and then sighed. By the looks of it, Siming saw that the fourth Bai is at the end of his wits.
Siming closed his eyes and released a sigh. He can't imagine how the princess looks like. How did it come to this? Siming sadly thought.
"Feng Jiu survived her trial and she ascended successfully to a goddess but she paid it with a high price. Now, we don't know if she can go back to her normal self without getting crazy. "Zhe Yan added. Siming sighed again and then replied,
"Princess Feng Jiu's fate was intertwined with another immortal while she's on her trial. " Siming said which earned a surprised look from the two high gods then he continued his explanation.
"The other immortal also have a condition before that immortal went down to its mortal trial. Send its own shadow and let the fates decide on its mortal trial. This is also the first time for me. I don't have enough words to explain how did this happen. "
"So are you saying this immortal is the cause of Feng Jiu's ascension? Like this person is part of her journey back in the mortal realm?" It was Zhe Yan who interestingly asked. Siming nodded and then continued,
"Yes and also her highness Feng Jiu is the cause of that immortal's successful mortal trial. Fate decided it on for them and fate intertwined their destinies. I'm afraid we are in a tight spot here. "
Then a stretch of silence followed. The three men contemplated on the events that took place then Bai Zhen spoke again,
"Nah, where is this other immortal residing? We need to visit this immortal. " Bai Zhen said with finality and certainty. But Siming stood and said with a frantic voice,
"Oh no-no-no. You can't do that. "
"Why? Who is this immortal that made you frantic and somewhat... "
Zhe Yan stood and scanned Siming from head to foot and continued talking,
"... Afraid? Is this immortal more important than our Feng Jiu? "
Siming bowed and showed his respects. He's afraid that he offended the two high gods.
"Say, who is this Star-Lord? We can't help my niece if you will not tell us everything." Bai Zhen is calmer and he is pleading now. He can't wait for another day and witness again the pitiful state of Feng Jiu.
Siming released a sigh of frustration. His shoulders slumped down in defeat and he sat on the dais and held his head with his left hand and said,
"The immortal you're looking for is residing here in Taichen Goong. "
Zhe Yan and Bai Zhen looked at each other then looked back at Siming. They don't understand what he said. Siming waited for the two high gods but they didn't figure it out so, he looked at them both in the eye and said,
"The immortal that has an intertwined fate with her highness Feng Jiu is no other than the keeper of the peace of the realms and the former head of the Sky Kingdom, Dong Hua Dijun. "
Siming saw high god Zhe Yan's eyes widened and he heard high god Bai Zhen gasped. Yes, this is also his reaction when fate revealed in the scrolls later on that his majesty Dong Hua Dijun and her highness Bai Feng Jiu is going to be each others love trial and each others downfall.
