Chapter 23: Change of Pace (Part 3)
Yu pushed Trelawney back on the bed to let her rest her still aching body. At least she doesn't have to sleep. Yu thought, gazing at her daughter's face with a smile on her face. She was helping Trelawney eat some porridge and a banana. When she was done helping Trelawney eat, Yu went to see to Dai. Dai was still sleeping peacefully. However, Yu was worried. Dai haven't showed any signs of waking up anytime soon and it was worrying Yu.
Even though she knew Eli trusted her ability to guide and lead the army, it was rare to have a woman leading an army on her own. Yu enjoyed leading, but she was sure that doing on her own would drive her insane after a few years. Eli came by to see Yu still awake. He gazed up at the sky and he seen that it was dark out. "Queen Yu, you need to rest." He tells her softly. Queen Yu politely dismissed him.
"I can't rest now, Eli. I can pull all-nighters. I used to have to pull all-nighters at work when I was a waitress. Pulling all-nighters gave me a much higher pay because I was the only one working. Even though I was treated worse than a poor family's pet, I didn't care." Yu tells Eli, who stared at her in shock. He and King Dai haven't heard about her past, so this was news to him.
"You mean that-" Eli was interrupted by Yu opening her mouth and Eli closed his trap.
"I would have begged for Dai to kill me until that commander told him that he would gave him a woman and he picked me because I was a poorer than a mangy dog." Yu tells Eli, who could only listen in both shock and amazement at how strong how Queen Yu was.
"You suffered so much and right now, you're the Queen of the Demons." Eli breathed out to Yu, causing her to flicked her gaze towards him.
"What's my full title, Eli?" Yu demanded. Eli gulped.
"Queen Yu, 104th Queen of the Demons." Eli answered. "King Dai is the 105th King of the Demons, but because he's not actually from the loyal family, his ruling can be compromised by the royal family, but the Demon Council picked him to rule because his skills in both leading and fighting are higher than those of the royal family." Yu was shocked at this new information. She thought that Dai was royalty, considering that he is the King, but he's not royalty.
"The way he carry himself. He acted like a person from a royal family!" Yu exclaimed in shock. Eli could believe his Queen's shock, but it was true. King Dai wasn't even considered loyalty, yet, the Demon Council chose him to be the next King. King Dai has be ruling for only four years.
"Yes, I know. He carries himself like that so he can prove that even a demon like him can be King." Eli tells Yu. Yu relaxed her shocked posture. She then gave Dai a small smile.
