Chapter 17: 16 Unexplained Emotion
"Suzuki san, the documents that you need is on your table."
"Thanks for your hard work."
"Ah, Suzuki san. Okuichi Sama has just landed at the airport."
"Yes. I'll let the driver go right away and get ready to receive him."
"Err, Suzuki san." other voices interrupt his way to his desk. Suzuki turned to the woman who stands in front of the large tv where life news was on the air. "I think you should see this."
It showed reporters flocking the arrival hall. Below the headlines highlights a currently famous young female celebrity with her current man reported to be a successful CEO; rumoured to be a young foreigner bachelor, Kunihiko Okuichi.
The sucking air noises among the females surprised to see not their CEO walking out of the arrival hall with a woman beside him but his lawyer, Luke Toyanashi. Secretary Nagami Suzuki doesn't seem bothered to listen to their whispering and gossipy voices among the staff. His eyes focusing a familiar hooded man with a black shade walked past behind the couple. A series of photo taking starts as the reporters approach and surround them. While the securities or maybe the bodyguards of the celebrity trying to block them from approaching them too close.
Secretary Suzuki heave a relieved sigh. He left the restroom staff lounge and head to his office. The phone rang as soon as he gets into the room. It seemed that their company finally had chosen this newcomer in the entertainment industry as their spokesperson for this upcoming online game that rumoured soon to be a hit.
"Yes, boss." He knew who it was, but still, it has been a routine for him to act fast. Sometimes he wonders if he has slowly become more and more like a butler to his boss. "What can I do for you?" He pushes his glasses up waiting for his instructions. His eyes got distracted with the latest Korea business magazine front page 'Mysterious young and successful CEO of the Year- Kunihiko Okuichi'; Japan business magazine front page 'Successful Cousins CEO Conquered Yet Another Small Company, Who's next?'
"I'll be away for another few days. Luke will come to settle the advertisement agreement with ms Kang," Kunihiko's voice slight rough and coughing noises over the phone sound awful.
"That won't do boss," Suzuki replies sternly. "You have a few appointments awaiting your attention, and also several papers need your signature." Suzuki nervously argues with his boss.
"Don't you heard my voice not allowed me to work right now?"
"Yes. But, you're not signing with your mouth, sir." Suzuki replies, ignoring his boss discomfort body. Sometimes he needs to act hard with his boss. Or this new coming online game won't be on time launching out to the market.
A chuckle from the other side of the line. "Alright. I'll let you know my current address and get your butt here ASAP. The rest of the appointment, let's just make an online conference meeting."
"I'll get to it then," Suzuki reply. "Boss, about the chauffeur.."
"It's alright. Let them have it. I just go through the train myself."
"Alright. Understood." Suzuki answered. "Be safe, boss."
"Thanks. See you soon." Kunihiko hangs up on him before his secretary even has his final say. He stole a glance at the surrounded couple, smirk at Luke. His lawyer expressions while giving out the speech, not something he wishes to watch. Luke glared at him as he waved his hand up to Luke before disappearing in the crowd with his saddlebag. He has a gathering to go. Luke will join him soon enough.
He has been away for two whole months and now stepping on this foreign soil that has been his home since his University time feels like heaven. He refused to take the chauffeur that Suzuki had prepared for him. He refused to get stuck in the terrible traffic jam in Seoul with some celebrity.
He has an appointment with William. His best friend in college. He is also his roommates at the University. William called in a few days ago telling him that he still needs his help after all despite he softly refuses to be his best man. Before long, William had chosen his cousin to be his best man. Unfortunately, his cousin; the best man suddenly had an emergency to attend to and has left for France yesterday. He will not be able to be his best man after all. The wedding will be in a week time. William had a quick chat with him and he can hear a woman's voice on the background the future wife sitting beside him quietly watching while they were conversing the whole time. He can't see her profile properly that day but he can imagine she looks older than William, considering their age gap between the couple. William described her as 'pretty and sweet'. That's how William described her to be. He never understands what he sees in that old woman.
Kunihiko remembered observing the couple behaviours makes him wonder if the woman loves him like William do head over heel in love with the woman. Maybe she looks more mature than William, to begin with. Eight years. What a joke. She is so old. Kunihiko has his suspicions. Later, he found out that the woman he's going to get married still can't forget her ex-fiance.
"Excuse me!"
A rush of people getting into the nearly empty train surprised him. All of a sudden the train packs with people. An elderly woman came in with her fragile-looks standing in front of him, nearly fall tripped over his long legs. She smiled at him apologetically. He smiled at her and stood up. He offers his seat to the elderly woman before grab hold to the railing. He was aware of all the staring from the side. Obviously not for helping the elderly but his height. Maybe getting into public transportation might not be the best way to travel for him after all. The train is not user-friendly with some people with height like him. Luckily, there was a spot beside the side railing for him to leaned on.
It took the train to reach the main city, Seoul in 45 minutes. It also makes him uncomfortable as the elderly woman that he just helped keeps on staring at him, smiling. He recalls his own grandma back at home. A tyrant lady of the house. She has been the head of the Yamaguchi family like before he even been born. The next heir should be his uncle or Kakeru's father but the ancestors never agreed to it. Not until Kunihiko was born with his other siblings. But, he refused to be the head and run away to South Korea.
He shook away the gruesome memory and focus on the front when he saw someone familiar. The woman with another man. He must be mistaken for someone else. The last incident happened two months ago returns to him like it just yesterday. He closed his eyes to shut those memories. He never had this kind of feeling towards any females. All of them were just sex mates to him. But, it troubled him to the core after he saw how Takashi swiftly move to the rescue before the woman falls to the harden wood. Only then did he knew it was her! The bridal woman. He was not even aware of the woman's present until she turns her head looking furious at the older woman.
Somehow, he did wonder how's she been doing? He accidentally asked Jeremy about the woman last week and she's getting married next two weeks.
Sudden tug on his hand gave him a surprise. Only to realise the elderly woman has been pulling his arm towards the exit. Kunihiko looked around to see everyone has been watching them, finally gave in to her tugging and followed her out of the train.
