Despite not meeting Lady Lena's standards, the room would have to suffice. However, Lena had to admit the warmth it emanated was pleasing, gradually seeping into her bones and dispelling the persistent chill that had plagued her since escaping from the monastery.

Lena fumed at her inward thoughts. "How could the Duke expect me to stay in such a place like that?"

The innkeeper, a middle-aged man with a curious glint in his eyes, tilted his head when he heard her mutter and inquired, "Princess Lena? Does this room meet your needs?"

She waved her hand at the man dismissively. "This will be fine. Now send up the maids and a tub. I would like a bath."

The old man bowed reverently, backed out of the room, and remarked, "I will have them up right away, Your Majesty." leaving her room key on a side table.
