Chapter 3: The Forest

The tree stood before us, a menacing aura surrounded the entrance of the tree. I took a deep breath and walked towards the door, the door made a loud creaking noise.

I looked inside the tree and saw what looked like a forest, I took one step forward and started feeling a small tug on my arm. I turned around to see the kid looking at me, he looked liked he had something to ask me.

"Uh, I've never heard your name. Also I've never told you mine, we should probably get that out of the way first."

I looked at the kid for a moment, I thought back to when we first met and came to the realization that he was right.

"My name's John, what's yours?"

"My name's Steven. Alright, now that we have that out of the way let's get going."

Steven ran off into the forest, I stood there for a moment thinking about what he had just done. I let out a sigh and ran after him.

The forest was full of life, but not the kind that I've seen. Rabbits had four ears, squirrels had multiple eyes, and the water was a weird green color. I kept running in the direction of where Steven had ran off to but was stopped when I heard a scream in the distance, I turned in the direction of the scream and went to investigate.

I ran through multiple layers of bushes, each one cutting my leg. When I arrived I saw Steven next to a girl who was a little smaller than him.

I looked at what they were staring at noticed something in the bushes, I readied my sword and moved closer. After about twenty steps a giant snake shot out of the bushes, I ran up to Steven and the girl and pushed them out of the way.

"What the hell is that thing?!" Yelled Steven. He walked back slowly holding tight to the girl, the girl if I was guessing correctly was his sister.

I returned my attention to the snake and saw that it turned away from me and was heading right towards Steven. My eyes widened as I tried to catch up to the snake but it was to late, the snake opened its mouth and swallowed them whole.

"I lost my brother to this hell hole, I didn't want anyone else having to live through that. I'll make sure you'll have a painful death."

The snake tried hitting me with its tail but I jumped out of the way, it turned its head around and tried to bite me but I slashed my sword causing it to recoil. I jumped up to the snakes back and ran up to it's head, I positioned my blade so I could plunge its head but before I could strike it threw me off.

I landed on my feet and stared at the snake, I gripped my blade even harder than before and ran at him one last time. He swung his tail but I didn't jump out of the way this time.

"Not this time, Revenge Slash!"

My blade started to glow, I swung it at the snakes tail and cut part of it off. The snake let out a loud hiss and attempted to run off, but before it could I jumped onto its back this time. It tried using the branches to hit me off but I was evading them, I ran up to it's head and delivered the final blow to it's head. The snake swung its head back causing me to fly off. My shoulder hit the ground first allowing me to hear the crack of my bones. I slowly reached for my bag and grabbed some herbs, within seconds my arm was back to full strength. I stood up and walked towards the corpse of the snake, I looked at it's stomach and saw that it was moving. Without hesitation I cut it open and saw Steven and the girl fall out.

"I thought the snake killed you, how'd you end up surviving?" I asked, brushing off my shoulder.

He shrugged and asked if the girl was ok, I stood there for a couple minutes not talking. I looked around and saw smoke in the distance, I alerted everyone and told them that I was going to check it out.

I walked through the forest keeping my eyes on where I saw the smoke, in the distance I saw a small cabin. I walked closer to it just to get pulled back, my mouth was covered and a figure stood over me telling me to be quiet. I looked back at the house and saw a strange figure enter the cabin.

"Don't go in there unless you're trying to kill yourself, that figure is one of the most dangerous creatures on the first floor."

I took a closer look at the figure and saw that it was a female wearing a robe, she looked like a magic caster. I shook my head and looked back at the house, the figure I saw entering the house was looking right in our direction. They took a couple steps towards us but stopped, they scratched their head and turned around. I let out a small sigh but right when I did the figure turned around, the figure used a shadow like substance and made giant dark arms.

"Well sh-"
