Chapter 1: Life of a pawn
What makes someone a villain? Is it the fact they have opposing views from what is considered right? Ok let me alter the question. What makes something right? Is it decided by what the majority of people think or is it based of morality.
In this world there are hero and villains for the sake of it. Everyone has to play a part in the story right? No one wants to be an extra either way.
Are heroes genuinely good willed people or just people who want to play the part of the saviour to fulfill their egos. Are villains truly evil or just want their beliefs to be noticed in a world where good and evil are based on the majority and not morality of people.
These thoughts run through my head. I've always been a thinker. My Ma thinks I'm crazy.
My Pa.. He met his destiny as an extra.. Death.
I don't really remember how he died, he most likely got caught up into a catastrophe made by a villain. Yet now it feels like he never even existed I guess this is what you call the 'Fate of an extra'.
It's quite funny really. As an extra one day I will also die and be forgotten of just like the others while Heroes and Villains are remembered and worshipped by generations to come.
I guess you can say they don't die..
"Ma when will you leave me?"
"I don't know dear, we can just wait for the day to come."
"Ah ok.."
We don't really talk much, I and my Ma. Even though we love each other, well I think, Extras don't talk much. We can but we just dont. That's for the heroes and villains.
"BREAKING NEWS: The protagonist has a fight with a minor antagonist."
The noise comes from the television.
"Woohoo! hes got this!"
"Kick his butt!!"
We cheer for the protagonist. Though we don't want to, we cheer. We are extras after all. To be honest I really don't care if he dies. I can't say that though. Not like I don't want to but I can't. We are basically pawns we can be used for many purposes. To create dispute with other pawns, Used as sacrifical pieces to protect others or to support greater pieces.
'I think I and Ma are lucky, it doesn't seem like we're like Pa. We just have to cheer we can live together forever ' I thought but I was forgetting about one of the greatest qualities of pawns.

Ma isn't home yet. She said she was going to get the groceries. Did something happen?

I cheer for the protagonist while tears are rolling down my cheeks.
"Damn, just 156 casualties he really outdid himself this time!, Who knows what would have happened if he wasn't around!"
I can't help but smile and clap. Is this even my body? Clapping and cheering while crying I must seem like a complete doofus. My mind and body are two separate beings.
'Why was I born like this'
'What did I do to deserve this, why can't I be the protagonist?'

[Everything is based of what the majority thinks after all. Once you get to 100k popularity you will be assigned to either a hero or villain]
[To become a protagonist or antagonist you need to reach 8 billion popularity which is 89% of this world's population]
[Well this only applies to you others are born as their roles your just a bug in the system]
