Chapter 2: The village

"Tie the front legs together, and help me carry this to the village."

Ena told Raiden in a familiar manner as if she is his boss.

After tying the legs of the pig over a piece of wood Raiden tried to lift the piece of wood over his shoulder, to his surprise, it was more than twice his weight, almost 150 kilograms.

Noticing the front part rise up Raiden gritted his teeth and lifted it and put the stick over his shoulder, 'What the heck this heavy fat lump of meat can run very fast, and Ena can just casually support this pig's weight.'

Raiden thought to himself while struggling to walk with the heavy wild boar pulling its weight on the stick.

After walking for ten minutes, Raiden finally had the courage to ask.

"How much further?"

the sounds of pain and agony can be heard when Raiden asked Ena.

"Not far."

Ena said, not caring for the obvious misery of Raiden.

After eight more grueling minutes of walking the two are in front of a village with a wooden wall on its entrance stretching from one side of the road to the other side until it's covered by the thick forest, then they heard a man, "Hey Ena."

"Alfred, help me with this boar, this kid might not last till we enter the gate."

Ena said calmly. After she said that a man walked up to them, standing tall at more than 6 feet, a man named Alfred walked near Raiden and took the stick off his shoulder then asked.

"You all right there?"

"I'm fine."

Raiden said while caressing his shoulder and trying to force a smile.

"My names Alfred, and I can't let you in the village."

Alfred said with a stern face.

Raiden shook in surprise.

Seeing Raiden's shocked face Alfred grinned and continued.

"Under normal circumstances, without showing your identification card."

Raiden stood still then asked.

"How can I get one?"

Alfred was a little bit surprised then he asked.

"Wait you don't have one? Well, I was just messing with you if she brought you here you can go in but after putting down this pig you have to follow me ok."

"Sure, by the way, my name is Raiden nice to meet you."

Raiden reluctantly answered and introduced himself

"likewise."

Alfred replied.

After putting down the boar in front of one of the houses, Ena called out.

"Richard, I have a huge catch for you."

After a while, a bald man wearing a bloodied apron walks out of the house, he appears to be the town butcher.

"Oh wow, that's a real big one right there."

Richard said as soon as he got out of his house.

"Let's go."

Alfred nudged Raiden and they started walking towards a bigger house.

"Village Chief, miss Heather, Its Alfred May I come in."

Alfred said after knocking on the door.

"Come in."

A voice of a female said

After receiving permission to enter Alfred, they opened the door and walked followed by Raiden. Upon entering they see a woman arranging papers on a table in the middle of the house.

"What do you want Alfred, father went out so if it's that question again don't even bother."

Miss Heather said while looking at the papers.

"I came here to see you, and it's only a little bit about 'that' question, but mostly about this kid right here."

Miss Heather looked up and saw Raiden. She stares for a little while and looked back down in the papers.

"If you want to know, whether or not he's allowed to stay, he can."

"I already know that Ena brought him here." Alfred answers back at Miss Heather.

"Then why are you here then?"

Miss Heather look back at the two and asked seemingly annoyed at Alfred.

"Well, he doesn't have an identification card." Alfred taps Raiden at the back and pushes him forward.

"Hello, I'm..."

Raiden was cut off when Miss Heather said.

"Come back tomorrow, I'm busy with all the neighboring village panicking right now."

"Sure, well then we'll get out of your hair, wait when you're done with all that tonight want to come over for dinner?"

"No, and get out."

Miss heather immediately refuses Alfred's offer and continues to work on the papers in front of her.

"Well, that went well."

Alfred says as they walk out of the door.

"What was that about?"

Raiden asks Alfred

Surprised, Alfred hesitated to answer. "Actually she and I have a thing going on."

"No, we don't!"

Miss Heather shouts out from inside the house.

"Not that, I mean about the other villages?"

Raiden tries to correct what Alfred misunderstood about his first question.

"Oh! that, right, right you see for about a week now the other villages had their merchants killed and robbed on some of the roads, and other villages are having a problem with their trades and such, we don't actually know on which road but it has been happening on multiple places where none of those roads are actually connected. We also don't know if its a small group of bandits or an entire clan of bandits. So Right now most of the villages around these places are gathering intel to know if they should ask, for help, or just send their people."

Alfred answers with a serious look on his face, completely different from a while ago.

"Well nothing fun is happening today I'm going back to the gate, Ena should be training near her house. Since she's the only person in the village that knows you ask her to show you around, she lives just straight this road and one right turn, if she's training you wouldn't miss her."

Alfred says as he points to the road towards their left.

"Welcome to Picea Village."
