Chapter 8: Chapter Seven: It's A Mindset

I ran through the memory in my mind. At this point I wasn't sure if I was remembering someone – or something – else's memories, or I was having hallucinations about my childhood. I stared at my peach hand, the oranges and pinks, the veins . . . not even a hint of blue. I closed my eyes, trying to envision each detail of the memory.

Leonus. He was tall with broad shoulders and a fantasy muscular build. His eyes were red, darker than a ruby, the harshness of them not matching his kindness. But the thing that stood out the most to me was his wings. They were beautiful, both them and his skin a stark white. However, his wings were scaly and cold, a big contrast to his firm and warm skin. I reached to my ponytail while thinking of his hair. It flowed down to the middle of his back, was whiter than he, and looked absolutely soft. I could definitely see Leo's hair looking like Leonus's if it were longer.

The pixie, Alvia, did resemble my mom, which is why I thought I was having a weird interpretation of my memories. Her lavender skin and green hair were peculiar, along with the iridescent dragon fly wings, were definitely something else. On the other hand, the sea green eyes, height, physique, and facial structure matched perfectly – along with the being with someone named Leonus.

I sat up in my bed and glared at the mirror. This was so frustrating. *You're telling me.* Oh yeah, and now I'm hearing things. *That's not the nicest way of mentioning my guidance.* I rolled my eyes. All I knew was that this voice was getting more and more comfortable in my head. *Remember what Leonus said, about the prophecy?*

"Yeah." *Well I'm here to guide you to complete it.*

"Even if I believed that, the girl in the prophecy isn't me. I'm very normal looking." *I wouldn't exactly say normal…* I scoffed, so now the voice thinks I'm weird looking. *I mean the magic makes you look normal-ish I guess. Still can't get rid of that birthmark.* My eyes widened; it was right. I looked at my ankle. It had been two days since the flashback and I hadn't even thought of looking for the birthmark. The little bird was the same as the little girls, now bigger. I had watched it grow as I grew up and never once thought it would be connected to a prophecy. *Alvia did her best to make sure you never would. Although even pixie magic cannot stop a Ufaeri's activation.*

"A what?" *You're 17th birthday already happened in Ufaerian time.*

"What the heck is are Ufaerians?" *Uh, so far – you. Remember what Leonus said, you're the first to restart the species. It's an honor. Fae are plenty, but I only work for the ruling Ufaerian. I have spent quite a while waiting for you miss.* My head was beginning to throb and I started to feel like I was going insane.

"Talking to some voice like I actually believe any of this…" I rubbed my temples and decided it was time to get some fresh air. *Don't believe me, check the mirror.*

I turned away from the door and faced my full body mirror, almost stubbing my toe on my dresser as I stepped back in shock. The pale blue face in the mirror mimicked my widened eyes. I raised my hand, watching as she followed. *Magic doesn't always work on mirrors.*

"But… how has this never happened?" *Simple. I'm here. A small part of you believed me, and the magic failed when you saw even a glimpse of your real self. Don't worry, no one else will see your reflection like you are now – unless you let them.*

"How would that even work?" *Let's not worry about that for now.*

I didn't bother pushing it, too focused on the girl in the mirror. My body was blue – blue! You got that part from your parents. I looked at the messy bun and pulled out my hair tie, watching red curls falling down my shoulder instead of my brown hair. As I stepped closer, I peered at the green overtaking my blue eyes. I touched my hair, my face, the mirror. A scream felt stuck in my throat, but I steadied my breath - taking a moment to close my eyes.

"Okay, I believe you." *More of a visual learner?* I opened my eyes again, its laughter annoying me.

"So, this whole activating thing. What exactly does that mean?" *Well, that's where things get complicated. Since you didn't stay and train in Ufaerius like the Ufaerians before you, I am not sure where to start – since I am assuming that you have not been taught anything.*

"I'd say that's pretty accurate." I sighed and sat in front of my mirror. I felt a bit light headed but didn't want to leave the new image of myself. *That's where your memory comes into play. Every Ufaeri activates differently, but it seems that your powers want you to remember rather than just having sudden powers.*

"My powers are causing me to remember… wouldn't that mean I already have sudden powers?" *Not exactly, apart from the night in the alley, you haven't used them.*

"So, I've used them before?" *Yes.*

"How do I do it again?" *Ah, now that is a very human mindset. One cannot simply "do it again" when it comes to magic. Magic is a feeling as well as a part of your being. If you want to be happy, you don't just "be happy". It requires action and a mindset.*

"Okay, so what do I need to do to achieve that mindset?" *Meditation, regaining your memories, training, and trust. I know you don't understand magic still, but you have to trust it. Magic is a living thing in its own way.*

"What exactly can my magic do?" *So far, increase in strength, call forth your armor and the unity sword, but that's just for now. You should be able to call forth your armor the easiest.*

"What mindset do I need for that?" *You need to think as if you were preparing for battle.*

*flashback*

"Alvia!" I looked up, this time I was not being held by Alvia or Leonus but a woman I had never seen before. She looked a bit older than Alvia, and was much taller. Her skin was pale blue like mine, but her hair was such a pale blue that it almost looked white. Her navy eyes met mine and began to water. She quickly looked up when Alvia appeared in front of us. "Take Harmony. You know the drill. Take Leonus with you. Don't turn back, the kingdom is no place for a child anymore."

She smiled and kissed my forehead, "It'll be okay."

What was going to be okay? Why was the woman so sad? My thoughts were disrupted as a man came over. His appearance matching the woman's except for his broader build and minor height difference. He was still lean and blue. He greeted me with a similar sad smile, and kissed me on the forehead as well.

"Mommy? Daddy? Why are you sad?" I mentally agreed, exactly, why are you sad… wait. Mommy and Daddy? These are who?

Alvia wrapped me in a brown blanket and held me, but my eyes weren't glued to her like normal. Instead, I stared at the scene taking place behind her. A hooded man with giant black wings. My heart hurt when our eyes met and I saw his sad expression, but I did not know why. However, I did notice one thing for sure, his eyes were silver.
