Chapter 2: Chapter 1

RING RING RING. I rub my eyes sleepily as I reach to grab my phone. When I finally get it in my hand I answer, only to jump at the voice.

"GOOD MORNIN,"  comes the shouting voice that no doubt is my friend.

"Good morning," I say in a sleepy voice. "What's all the excitement about?" I ask.

"Oh nothing. It's probably just the fact that I might have had one to many cups this morning. Man that new coffee my mom bought sure does have a lot of caffeine in it," he says. "It was also to wake you up for school man."

"Yeah I can tell. Don't worry I'm awake now. See you in 30 minutes," I reply quickly.

"Okay see ya," he replies, and the phone clicks off. I know that he is my best friend, but sometimes he is just a little to much.

I start to notice that my room smells like blueberry waffles. Mmm, My mom is in for a treat this morning. I stumble my way full of hunger down the stairs, and walk into the kitchen.

"Good morning," says my mom as she sets my plate down. "You look really hungry."

"Mhm," is all that I can reply as I stuff my mouth full of waffles.

"Very observant I see," I reply with a hint of sarcasm, as I finish my last bite.

My mom looks at me and bursts out laughing. A slight grin starts tugging at the side of my lips.

"What's all this laughter about," says my dad as he walks in the kitchen grinning from ear to ear. "Y'all make me fell as if I'm missing a lot of fun."

"Oh not really. The only fun you will get is seeing him leave for school," says my mom as she jabbs her thumb my direction.

I let out a small burst of laughter as I ask, "Where is Heaven?"

"She is still in her room sleeping," replies my mom.

"Oh ok," I say to myself as I head to my room to change.

When I finish changing I go downstairs to thank mom for the breakfast, and bid my parents goodbye. I walk down the steps of my home and out into the driveway, where my car is parked. My car is nothing extravagant, but just what I need to get myself to and from places. I get in and turn on some music as I drive myself to school.

I pull into the parking lot next to my friend's car and step out, making sure to lock it. When I hear the reassuring beep, I'm quite convinced so I head inside the building.

No sooner did I step in there I see the prized possession. The girl that everyone loves, the drama queen above all, and here name was Helen Black. Inside my mind, whenever her name come even for the slightest moment, sudden anger sets in. I don't know what I have to hold against her, but I don't like her at all.

I hurry though the croud to get to my locker, only to find the one and only Alex Drake propping against it. When he sees me his eyes fill with joy that only a true friend can receive from another.

Alex is the age of 17, stands at a proud 5'8 with blue eyes and black hair that has been kept to a clean cut.

"So, are you ready to face the big battle today?" I ask.

"No but I think the I will be fine," comes his reply. Immediately I can tell that the caffeine has worn off.

"Well the bells fixing to ring, and we don't want to be late for class especially since we're ending graduation year. See you around," I say.

"Okay see ya," he replies, and we walk in separate directions.

As I pull into the driveway of my home, I see my sister run out squealing at the top of her lungs.

"Bubba I missed you. Where have you been?"

"At school like always, Heaven," I reply.

Heaven, as you can tell is my little sister. She has long wavy blonde hair, and a beautiful skin tone that leaves anyone staring in awe. The other reason is that she is so young, but we don't tell her that. She also has sharp blue eyes that often sparker with delight, all at 6 years old.

After her rant, we go inside to play with heaven, as it is about that time of day. I was preparing the setup when my mom come over to me.

"Something is bothering you, and I want you to tell me," she says.

I stare at her wide eyes with disbelief. How did she know?

"I see it it written all over you face," she replies, immediately answering my questions.

"Well mom, here lately I've been thinking that it's time," I answer.

"Time for what exactly?" she questions.

"Well I've been thinking that since I'm older and I almost have a stable job, it's time for me to get ready to move out," I reply.

My mom looks down at me and nods as tears well up in her eyes.

"Just moments ago you were a baby, and now your all grown up," she replies, her voice cracking, obviously fighting back tears refusing to let them spill. "But I have to agree with your choice. Your father and I have been talking about that, and now it just makes me happy to see my son taking his own responsibility."

"I'll never forget about you," I say as I stand up to give her a hug. She embraces me tight as if fearing that if she let go then she would loose me.

"Neither will I," she responds.

"And besides, it's only two minutes from here," I say.

Her eyes fill up with joy. "I thought that you were moving away for a moment," she admits.

"Never," I reply, although something kept nagging me in the back of my head saying 'Dont make promises you can't keep.' I just shrugged the feeling off.

The rest of the night, we stay up laughing, joking, and playing until bedtime. By the time we all got our beds we were so exhausted that we were asleep in seconds.
