Chapter 1: Prologue
Walking through the halls of Liberty High never felt better. My usually colourful skinny jeans was white today, matched with a black tank top and a black and white checkered shirt. It was lunch time and my friends were walking slightly behind me as we made our way from English to the cafeteria.
"Are you sure Derek will be at Freds party tonight?" Ali asked, unsure if her crush was going to be at the biggest party of the year.
"Are you kidding?" I snorted. "Of course, QB wouldn't miss it for the world. The whole team is coming."
Alicia was new to the group. A recent transfer that I met outside of school and we clicked. I can't say that about anyone in our group of five, so she instantly became my right hand. The cafeteria was full when we entered the open blue doors. All tables were almost full, except for one that was left empty for me an my friends.
"Don't forget I want pizza today." I said as I walked towards the table. "And a diet coke."
"And I want a salad." Ali said and took a seat. I took a seat on the middle chair and the rest of the three went to stand in line for the food.
"Lana Mills." The principal called from the doorway.
I croaked an eyebrow at Ali and stood up. It was then that I noticed the two officers standing beside him. Without hesitation I sprinted for the door on the other side of the cafeteria.
"Stop!" One of the officers yelled.
I didn't stop though, I ran between tables and pushing people out of the way. Before I got to the door, I got tackled to the ground. No sound other than mumbling curses came out of my mouth. No noice of pain, no screams and no resisting arrest.
"Lana Mills, you are under arrest for vandalism, theft and trespassing. You have the right to remain silent, everything you say will be used against you in the court of law." The officer continued to read me my rights as he handcuffed me and put me to my feet.
As the officer guided me though the quiet cafeteria, multiple student were filming the incident. This was no doubt getting out on someones instagram or tiktok. Students slowly walked after the officers, the principal and I out of the school and towards the squad car.
It was extremely uncomfortable sitting in a car with your hands cuffed behind your back.
Well at the station, they showed no mercy that I was in fact a woman and manhandled me.
I sat on the uncomfortable bed hurting my butt cheeks after getting booked. Metal bed with a thin mattress with a green concrete wall to lean on. I picked at the hole in my food stained jeans.
