Chapter 2: The Deal

What should I do? What can I do? Let's just work. Give me something to work on. He grabbed one of his journals and began to immerse himself in another study session. Nothing feels better than being fully invested in something you enjoy.

Hours later it began to approach the meetup time they had originally planned for the deal. Should I still go? Will it matter? Eh, I might as well show up. He fed the dog, grabbed some money, stopped by the store and made his way to the park.

When he arrived he saw that the park was eerily quiet. Everyone must be at home social distancing in fear of the timer. This was the park he grew up at. He knew every nook and cranny. So before anyone else showed up he approached his personal stash.

He didn't like bringing too many things into his grandma's house, especially not weapons. Although he does have a pistol or 2 there, they are mostly for protection and July 4th. But in his stash he has his twin Wesson M1911 razorbacks and his bullet proof vest.

After loading himself up with holsters and ammo he began to walk over to the spot. On his way over he noticed the timer in the sky was approaching zero rather quickly.

"Yo Tom, you didn't punk out. Haha and here I thought we were gonna have to jump you for flaking. Hahaha thanks for not making me look bad, bruh." Although he said it in a joking manner Tom knew it wasn't a joke at all but the actual consequences of fooling around with gangs. "Haha, hope you strapped in lil' bro. We made a couple deals with 9th street before, but you can never be too safe." He quickly became serious halfway through his sentence as he tried to hand Tom an Uzi.

"Nah, I came prepared." He didn't want to show them what he brought because he didn't fully trust them and wasn't stupid enough to tell them where his guns are and that he was wearing a vest. He even went so far as to weave the vest into a coat so it looked more natural.

He also didn't want the Uzi because of its wild bullet spread. Some weapons if you dont train with won't be so accurate in the times you need them.

"Oh dont tell me you are gonna beat them with your walking stick, haha." He knew John was messing with him but all the kids knew he was sensitive about his bum leg. He can't remember wha happened to his leg and his grandma never told him. To make it worse most of the kids know he took martial arts classes and was an expert at fighting with sticks. "Oh wait, they are here."

Two pearl white escalades pulled up in quick succession. Four tall buff bodybuilders jumped out of the first truck and approached the second one. After opening the door an older hispanic man slowly descended. As he approached he seemed to analyse all of his surroundings with swift glances in each direction.

When he was just a foot away from us he stooped down to take a look at the merchandise we brought. He whipped out a knife as if it were an extension of his person. A small blade but with such a practised looking motion that you couldn't help but be nervous.

Using the edge of the blade he cut into the package and took a taste. After dwelling on it for the world's longest minute he stood up, looked over us and then to the sky. His movements seemed to be some kind of signal as the four behemoths began to move and pack up the bags into the trucks.

When he entered back into his truck, both escalades took off. It was at that moment when John seemed to let out a deep breath that we both were holding in.

"Haha, another day, another done deal. Alright let's go, you can ride with me." He whipped out his phone to check the app-of-cash notification he just received. Still waiting for my cut I just follow along back to his car.

It was then when I noticed there were three other people in the car. Why would he need me for this deal if he was just going to bring his other goons? Maybe for backup? I slide my hand to where my right holster is inside my pants, just in case.

As we drew closer one of the goons began to step out of the car with a black bag over his shoulder. An empty one. Crap!

"Oh yeah, Tom I almost forgot your cut." As John whipped around toward me, I knew what was coming. I just have to brace for it.

*Pow*

*Gasp*

I thought I was prepared but I have never been shot before even with my vest on. Luckily, he was aiming at my gut. What sound was that though? I spent hundreds of dollars at the gun range just to be able to hear the sounds of different guns so I would be able to recognise them in a moment's notice.FN-Five-Seven. After getting a good look, I see that it is the standard version (20 rounds).

Knowing that he has a large clip size then me I take two shots. One two his knee cap so it can briefly remove him from the fight and the recoil will pull the gun up to headshot level for the goon that just got out of the car.

*Pow**Pow*

Using the momentary delaly I run a beeline across the park, grab my stash bags, throw them on my back and take off home. I know that'll be the first place they look for me. I gotta get my grandma out of there.

Why did I buy so many guns? I probably should have left the bags but I will need weapons in case of another shootout. When I arrive at the house I find a note on the table and no sign of the nurses or my grandma.

The note: All medical staff are to report to the nearest hospital until further notice. If you have a stay at home patient they may be brought along no charge. At the bottom she wrote an additional note that stated that she tried to contact me. I turned my phone off during the deal so no one would get spooked. Sure enough 25 missed calls appeared on my screen.

*Screech*

I hear a vehicle screech to a halt outside and the doors of multiple vans roll back. Crap I left the bags at the door. Right as he made a mad dash for the bags…

*Fuuuurrrmmmm*

The world went black. The world went silent.
