Chapter 1: Sadness and new hope
"Let's finish this Vergil, I have to stop you, even if that means killing you" a teenager named Dante with silver hair, bare chest and a red trench coat said seriously to his twin brother who was in front of him, his brother has the same face as him, he had a combed back hairstyle, with a black vest and a blue trench coat
Without speaking a single word his twin brother Vergil prepared for the final attack what will decide all then started running with all their strength and then when they were close to each other they attacked where in the end the one who won was Dante
Graving the gem from the collar that got cut in that last attack, Vergil turned around to face Dante and said "No one can have this, Dante. It's mine, it belongs to a son of Sparda" and then got closed to the gate to hell who was in an cliff
With the time when Vergil was at the end of the cliff, Dante tried to stop him but Vergil pointed his sword to his neck and tells him "Leave me and go, if you don't want to be trapped in the demon world. I'm staying, this place was our father's home" before throw his self to the portal cutting the palm of the hand of Dante in the process and finally crossing the portal

As him was falling towards the portal, Vergil started to think that concentrate in his demon heritage was wrong, if all his effort was in vain or if he had concentrate in learning more about his human emotions and strengthened his will with that he may not have lose
'I was blind' was the last thing Vergil thought with regret while letting himself drop
After what feels like an hour he felt that something strange was happening the portal to hell isn't that far from where he fought Dante, so why he was still falling?
Trying to get the answer to that question he opened his eyes only to see a black space, and then a bright light appeared out of nowhere and started to devour him until they disappear of that strange place

when Vergil opened his eyes again he was standing in a place that don't have any furniture and was a little dark, there were other three persons with him and a group of people with robes
"What is this?" he murmured while looking at his right arm where a shield was, the strange thing was that Vergil feel his soul had a connection with the shield just like he feel with Yamato
He started examining this strange shield while ignoring the group of people with robes that were screaming things like "It was a success" or "o' four saint heroes of old, please help save our world" and the other three guys that looks like appeared with Vergil where talking among themselves on how this looked like a game
After that the group of weirdos with robes started to explain to them about what is happening, summarized, they are in the country of Melromarc and were invoked as the four saint heroes to help them stop the waves of demons that appears within certain time
After that they started to go to the throne chamber to see the king while Vergil started to think about the situation 'So this is other world, interesting but this happened in a bad time and I don't know if the portal to hell closed or I got teleported here before cross it'
"Hey, can you hear me? You don't talked or presented yourself back there" one of the guys that were named hero like Vergil started talking with him, this one was the hero with a bow and short light brown curly hair
Vergil only give him a little look until he looked away and answered him "I'm Vergil" then he thought about how he need to get more attached to his humanity 'I will try see if I can feel friendship or some of those emotions that mother and Dante talked about' with that in his mind he started to speak again
"Vergil Sparda and It seems that I'm the hero of the shield, nice to meet you, what is your name?"
"Oh so you don't are shy, my name his Itsuki Kawasumi and like it seems I'm the bow hero" said Itsuki with a friendly smile
"Hm? Oh you two are presenting to each other?" asked the hero with long blond hair held in a ponytail and a spear in his hand
"Yeah! He says his name his Vergil and is the shield hero… ah! by the way this guy is the spear hero and his name is Motoyasu Kitamura" itsuki replied to motoyasu to later introduce him to vergil
"Eh? A shield? Well, that's too bad…" said Motoyasu with a little mocking smile
Seeing that, Vergil frown a little 'this guy think too much of himself'
"My name is Ren Amaki" intercepted the sword hero and after that he stopped paying attention to the talk
After 2 or 3 minutes they arrived at the throne chamber where they can see a old man sitting in the throne and people around looking at them
"Welcome heroes, I am this country's king, Aultcray" The king presented himself after continue with what he wanted to say
"You should save this country and in return you will be duly compensated in return, now then, heroes I will now hear of your names"
Then they started presenting one by one until it was the time of Vergil when the king interrupted him
"Hm, Ren, Itsuki and motoyasu…"
While the king was saying that Vergil started to leave not bothered by the looks they were giving him, some were of confusion others of anger
Before he could leave the throne chamber, a group of knights surrounded him while pointing their spears at him
"WHAT YOU THINK YOU ARE DOING SHIELD HERO?!?" screamed the king angrily
"it seemed that I don't was needed so I just were about to leave" Vergil responded while making appears Yamato and cut all the spears at great speed while appearing outside of the circle the knights made and started to leave again
All the persons inside the chamber where astonished because the shield hero used a sword too and no one stopped Vergil from leaving
"Give him a bag of coins and let him leave" said the king while still angry before resume his explanation to the other heroes

after Vergil got the bag of coins and left the castle, he started to seek a place to get information until he got inside a library
"Hi and welcome, what type of book are you seeking?" asked an old man that was attending the library
"Where are the books about the heroes… and do you have poetry books?" asked Vergil, he wanted to know the role he was given in this world and for the poetry books well… it was one of his hobby
