Chapter 14: 11 months later.....
Edward could be seen meditating in his tree house that was deep within the woods. As it was built up a tall tree he didn't have much disturbance from the wild animals. It has been 11 months since the beast incursion and Ed concentrated only cultivation and body refinement, the beast cores and the herbs he obtained from the Lord Enforcer were almost used up and he made quite some progress. His current status was

The titan's might had 5 stages they were bronze, iron, silver, gold and adamantite. The rapid progress he made even shocked himself. It was an euphoric feeling. Unknown to Ed he had reached the same power level as the Lord Enforcer was 9 months ago and he could now take on the king of the forest.
During his practice he had only concentrated on cultivating and didn't focus on actual combat experience so in the remaining 15 days till the talent hunt Ed was planning on fighting against all the top wild animals in the forest and find all the medicinal herbs within the forest before he left for the capital, he didn't want to have any regrets.
Edward slowly opened his eyes , he had stabilized his cultivation, he badly wanted a bath. Ed built the tree house clandestinely and furnished it with all basic appliances like bath tubs, meditation mats and a cupboard to store up some food , he also hid his stashed money and other herbs here.
His home also was prosperous now as the start up that his mother joined took off well, he helped his mother by hunting some wild goats and boars for their leather and their meat , he successfully brought back some wild animal young ones to rear and he sealed their meridians so they didn't grow big due to the enriching natural mana and successfully domesticated them so it gave his family extra income, he somehow returned his mother ring back to her lying that he got the money by hunting. His mother had her doubts but she thought that her son was getting stronger due to the cultivation technique her husband brought them. So she tactically accepted her son's growth. Actually no one in the continent had a speedy progress than Edward but only Jenn and Ed himself knew about his strength so it did matter.
Others thought that Jenn became rich due to the start up but it was Jenn who supported the startup that went broke after Alexander's initial investment got over. Laura was very thankful that Jenn invested in their business from her personnel savings got from the meat sales. Laura first questioned Jenn how she had managed to domesticate the goats and other cattle and Jenn had recited what Ed had told her " They were crippled animals that were unable to absorb mana and they interbreed them to obtain more such animals."
It made sense to Laura and thought that Jenn was lucky and smart to find such animals , but she was happy for her friend and she too profited from it as Jenn invested a lot of money on the business and the meat production in the village increased and all were happy. There were some people who wanted to exploit Jenn but all of them ended up with different misfortunes(wink wink)so all of them stayed away from her. Ed made Jenn employ Alex and his hunter pals to rear and herd the cattle. Since the pay was good and the risks were less Alex and his team gave on hunting and became farmers. Ed also bought them some low level strengthening techniques from the market and this sealed their loyalty to Jennifer. Jennifer became the boss of her own enterprise and life became comfortable, Jenn continued to procure low grade beast cores and other resources for Ed. Ed accepted them for his mother but they can not be used anymore as he had reached the DD 3rd layer. Ed used the herbs for practicing basic alchemy which he had learned from the books he bought and now was capable of concocting small herbal pelts which had much better effect in tempering his body.
After Ed took his bath he went to have lunch with his mother and after that he once again reached the tree house and started to prepare.
He stored all his treasure in a wooden crate. He wanted to have a real fight with the wild animals so he was prepared for a death match.
Ed took out the daggers he had made his lackeys buy before. It hadn't been put to use so it still had that new items sheen. Since he was going to take part in the power struggle of this world he want to get used to his weapons as much as possible even if its just a mortal blade.
After taking what he needed he set out towards the depth of the forest. This was the first time he traveled slowly through the forest and hence got to witness the natural splendor before him. The thick canopy had literally shut off the sunlight and it was slightly dark and humid.He knew were the cave of the beast king was so he was not in that much of a hurry. As he neared the spirit bear wold king's lair he began to sense multiple Mana signatures and he could instantly tell that it was the king beasts subordinates. Ed knew that if he beat up the subordinates the boss will eventually come out, not that Ed couldn't go inside but it was better lighted than the dark cave.
As soon as Ed came out of his hiding he was sensed by the beasts that howled and encircled them. Since Ed had more Mana than all the beasts combine he didn't exert himself when he dispatched the animals. He was not a cruel person but he needed the animals to call out their king so he let them suffer for some time before killing them.
Just as expected the spirit bear wolf king came out , you could see the scars it sustained from its fight with Enforcer. It menacingly stared at the brat that dared to cause a ruckus in its territory. Ed could even see a smaller version of the beast king near its parents back. Ed recognized it as the cub he stole back then, it had grown to be as tall as Ed.
Ed didn't feel bad to what he was going to do its parent as he wanted to get stronger and this wild beast will be a stepping stone in his path to power.
Ed took out his dagger and covered it with a layer of his Mana, the mana will make the dagger more durable and he had studied a simple martial technique for assassins that allowed him to convert the nature of his mana in the dagger into poisonous Mana. Once it enters the blood stream it will move towards the heart and erode it. Since it was a low level technique it will not be fatal against strong opponents.
Both the beast and the man got ready to kill the other.
