Chapter 3: Cultivation technique
The so called "high grade technique" displayed the meridian route that should be used to store the Mana in the dantian. Edward who was once a martial artist even though in name only had seen better meridian graphs than this technique. If he followed this technique he would inevitably accumulate damage in his meridians due to unwanted stress from the inefficient use of the meridians. If the so called high grade ones where this inferior then he got goosebumps just from thinking about the low grade ones.
But Ed now confirmed some things
1.The powerlevel of various powerhouses in humans was not as powerful as he had previously thought. However he would never underestimate anyone.
2. Mana and Qi are similar and fortunately the Mana of this world is thicker. He couldn't feel it now but once he cleanses his marrows and opens his meridial pores then it was only a matter of time before he could cultivate Mana
Now he had his thoughts straight , he decided on a plan of action . He would cultivate his previous worlds "Divine dragon's 12 layer of qi cultivation" and the "titan's might" body refining techniques.But the problem was he cannot tell his mother about any of it . So he would pretend that he will be practicing the high grade cultivation technique and his mother will never know.
After pretending to memorize the cultivation technique he waited for 5 minutes and gave the beast skin parchment to his mother for her to burn. He was now fairly confident of becoming a future powerhouse. Currently he was on vegan diet but to cultivate qi he would require good protein supplements like meat and cultivation assisting herbs like ginseng etc. With their current finances to consume meat daily would burn their pockets so he didn't inform his mother about anything.
Jenn on the other hand knew certain things about cultivation as she has seen her husband practicing and she knew that cultivating requires costly supplements. So she decided that she will surely work extra to finance her son's training for 1 year until he enters the academy. In the Thetes continent unlike earths eastern cultivation , people use beast cores instead of herbs for cultivation. Also the kingdom of Saurd only uses herbs for refining medicine and ointments and not as cultivation resources .The medical knowledge of the kingdom was also lacking due to lack of talents.
Jenn decided she will start saving money to buy a low level beast core for her son. The beast cores were categorized into lower , middle and high grade each having two stages premature and mature category. A low grade premature core costs around 10 silver(1 silver=100 copper). Her annual pension was 15 silvers. So she had to take extra jobs and spend less for one year.
Little Ed's voice brought her back to reality.
he said "mommy can i help you by collecting firewood from the nearby woods"
Jenn was so happy that her son wanted to help her and it was true that collecting firewood would save her sometime but it was also dangerous , even though there were no magical beasts in the near by woods there were plenty of wild animals that to harm even a adult much less a child.
She declined his offer for help but Little Ed was adamant as he had a hidden agenda that was to look for some herbs while helping his mother a win-win.After many tries she reluctantly agreed if he went with other kids nearby and not alone.
Little Ed mostly knew the neighboring kids so it was no problem.
After his mother left to work he sat on his bed and started to meditate , to calm his mind and started to recall the cultivation technique of his past life. He was a little bit rusty but it came back to him .
The Divine Dragon's 12 layer chants were recited by Ed and tried to circulate his internal energy to clear his marrows and after an hour he had concluded 1 big cycle. The next few cycles required little time as the meridians were cleared. This was a mentally tiring and little Ed was sweating like crazy his pores opened and a black liquid poured out , these were the impurities in his body .Now he felt fresh and energetic. After he had washed himself and changed to fresh cloths he set out to collect firewood. This was his first excursion so he was very exited. To keep his promise to his mother he went to call on the neighboring kids.
There were 5 kids in the neighbor hood , a pair of twins(both boys-tom and tim) , a fat boy(ben) and two girls. The eldest was a girl she was 6 and half years old. She called the shots "big sister" character, her name was Rose. These kids were good to Ed even though he rarely played with them and today they excited at Ed's offer to go to the woods. They always wanted to taste the fruit that grew there, it was similar to an apple.
After packing the necessary things the 6 runts made their way to the edge of the woods. Even though Ed wanted to go deeper in search of herbs he wouldn't risk his and his friends life. So Ed climbed a tall tree and surveyed the surrounding ,he could see upto 500 metres and once he confirmed there were no wild animals he led the group inside the woods. He first made the group scourge for fire wood after picking enough sticks they rested for a while and again Ed climbed a tree to view his surroundings. He could see some wild goats but he was not confident to hunt them so he could only give up. He then searched for some herbs but in vain, but he did see the apple like fruit tree.
He had made the group work for him so he had to give them some benefit so he led them to the fruit tree and plucked some fruits for them. The children were overjoyed and started to pick the fallen fruits unaware of the danger that was watching them.
