Chapter 6: Chapter 6: A good bow
The day starts as the sun slowly rises in the sky.
Lobion starts his day by eating a dodo that he had smoked last night, after that he goes to the pile of arrows and his bow.
He finished the arrows by fixing the flints he had cut with the big stone and the wood of Redia.
"Ah, I forgot, but I had to make a mortar!" Lobion thinks to himself when he has finished all the arrows!
So he goes outside to get some stones to make his mortar! He needs exactly two medium-sized stones to make a good mortar.
It doesn't take him long to find the two stones he is looking for because he now knows the terrain around his shelter. So he goes into his shelter and starts to cut the two stones he has found.
He takes one stone and taps it on top of the large stone outside his shelter. He makes the stone a hollow inside. This took him about 8 hours!
After finishing his first task, he examines the stone and realizes that the hollow he cut with the big rock is deeper than he thought at first. The stone he cut now looks like a mortar, there is a hollow inside but there are also edges that go about 3 cm on each side.
As the stone was dug by hand without any precision tools, the hollow of the stone is not totally uniform but it gives the mortar a charm; indeed, the mortar has a black colour which gives it a diabolical effect.
"Fuuu! I didn't see the time go by!"
"Gruuuulllllll!"
Lobion grimaces as he realizes that he forgot to eat again! So he decides to go back to his shelter to take one of the dodos he had cooked before eating it as quickly as he took it!
After a few minutes, Lobion resumes his work before going to bed!
He is now making the pestle that will be used to crush the objects and substances that will be in the mortar.
He finds himself once again in front of the big rock which is in front of his shelter. He takes the second stone then taps it on the rock!
"PANG! PANG! PANG"
After a few hours, Lobion stops to look at his work. The pestle he has managed to carve is the size of his hand and no more than 10 cm wide. The pestle is the same colour as the mortar that was made earlier.
Lobion realises that it is late, so he goes to have his meal and then goes straight to bed in his makeshift bed as he is tired from banging on a rock all day.
The fourth day passes without any incident for young Lobion....
The arrival of the sun marks the arrival of the fifth day...
Lobion gets up and does as usual, he eats a DODO! After his meal, he decides to take care of one of the most important tasks at the moment which is to make narcotics!
He went to the mortar and pestle and realised that he was missing the ingredients to make the narcotic. He was so excited that he forgot he was missing the ingredients.
"Ahhhh! I'm getting clumsier and clumsier, I have to be more careful or I might lose my life!" Lobion thinks when he realizes his mistake!
So he takes his weapons including his knife, bow, arrows and spear. He goes to hunt dodos so he can get their meat and then rot them and then he has to get narcosis berries so he can make the narcotic mixture!
Once out of his shelter, he uses his power to make the footprints of the dinosaurs near him appear. Several types of footprints start to appear on the ground, these footprints glow with a slight light making them more visible to Lobion.
It takes him only a few seconds to spot the tracks of several dodos.
He moves towards the tracks of the dodos and follows them with great attention, because he knows that when there are prey like dodos, it surely means that there are predators not far from the prey.
After a few seconds, Lobion is not far from the position of the dodos he tracked with his power.
He kneels down and bends his bow, putting an arrow on it.
"Fuuuuu! Ufffff!" He slows down his breath so that it doesn't disturb him when he shoots at the Dodos.
Indeed, despite the fact that he had never done a real hunt before his first initiation hunt with his father, Lobion had trained with the other young men of his tribe in the mastery of weapons.
This training included all kinds of fighting styles, including long-distance fighting, which requires a bow and arrow.
He tries to remember the advice he got during his training.
So he swings his bow in the direction of the dodos and shoots his arrow when he has one of the dodos in his sights.
The number of dodos in front of him is only three, they are not numerous but they make the task more difficult because they will be able to escape more easily from Lobion when he has fired.
"FIUUUUUUUUUU"
When the arrow has left Lobion's bow, a whistling sound is heard by the dodos present. The arrow pierces the wind and then lodges in the rib cage of one of the dodos present!
The other two dodos panic when they see one of them impaled by an arrow as big as their heads.
"FIUUUUUUUUUUUU"
"FIUUUUUUUUUUUU"
But before they can escape two more whistles are heard in the silent morning forest.
"PA"
The three Dodos fall to the ground at almost the same time.
"Ahahahah! I managed to kill them all at the same time! I'll be able to make a lot of narcotics with their meat if I let them rot! Now all I need to do is get some narc berries!" Lobion smiles when he thinks of the three arrows that hit the three dodos without missing a single one!
So Lobion goes to pick up the three dead dodos on the ground and bring them back to his shelter and then goes to the forest to get some narcosia berries...
