Chapter 1: The Void
Emptiness. That's all I could feel. Nothing, nowhere, and nobody. The feeling of nothing isn't strange, well maybe it would be to others, but I've felt it my whole life 24/7 just a lack of feeling anything.
"Well, aren't you an edgy one. Hmmm little soul what is it that you desire." Is that a god or am I an ant? Either way it doesn't matter to me, but if I had to say I just want to feel whole.
"Now that you mention it your soul is pretty faulty. There seems to be a small hole inside you. Which it's no wonder you can't feel any extreme emotions whenever they start to boil up it leaks out. I'm not sure what god created you, but they did a pretty shit job, well human luckily you were killed by a poisonous spider which means your soul is mine to play with.
Be thankful that I the insect goddess has blessed you with my time and I think I'm going to-" and then a tear ripped into the area. Which now that I begin looking around is a lush forest whirring with wildlife.
Exiting through the hole is a small blonde kid with a grin like no other on his face. "Oh, shit it's you…what do you want?" Clearly the goddess knew who he was and didn't exactly like him.
"So I see you are reincarnating this human for your entertainment, but look maybe we should both get some humans give them powers and fight them you know?!?!" His excitement practically rolled off of him in a yellow and orange aura, but he's clearly asked something like this before because her response was less than enthusiastic.
"For the last time we aren't going to do your stupid games okay?!" His comeback was so quick even after being turned down so harshly it's almost like he rehearsed all of this "But I really think this is something fun that's gonna stick. Come on just take a chance on it for once!!!" He balled his hands up pouting like a toddler.
"Finnne, but I'm telling you give it a good 100 years and you're gonna be looking stupid!" With that final outburst he burst into…ferrets? That skittered away everywhere.
"I hate dealing with him you never know whether you're gonna get some good or bad advice. Ahem back to the task at hand do you have any questions before I send you in?"
"Umm you didn't get to explain much to me so I'm still quite confused." Honestly whatever she says I don't care much, but I should at least listen to what she says. Or else I'll be in needless danger.
"I knew you would be perfect for this system ufufufufufu~ I'm going to be giving you a system based off the game Hollow Knight and sending you directly into the Naruto world with your own clan and background so no need to worry about such. With a toothy grin she raised her hand to her mouth covering her laughter.
"Speaking of clan I can't have more people in that world like you so there will be a tad bit of a…tragedy involving your future family.
"Why should I even do this? I'd rather stay in the void I was in before. It's the only place I felt like I've ever belonged and any other life seems like it'd just be the same thing." Her laughter grew into loud and mad chittering as it echoed throughout the forest. At first I was terrified and then just like normal it dissolved in matter of seconds.
"Let me tell you what you get out of being my little play thing human. You get the one thing you've ever wanted. To feel and express any strong emotions. Well, is that enough to entice you for you to act as my entertainment? Or…do you also want me?"
Her smile grew into a coy and suggestive smirk, but my face remained dumbstruck from her previous offer. I could finally feel a little more than content, annoyed, and upset. Finally, finally!
"Please Ma'm I will do whatever you need me to!" I don't care if I sound desperate because I need this. Or at least I think I do maybe not, but I at least kinda feel like it.
Her face was slightly disappointed probably because I completely dismissed her move on me or whatever teasing that was.
"Oh fine you're no fun. Maybe you'll come around after you become more emotional. This is the basic you need Naruto is a land of ninja and magic like spells and powers. I believe you played a bit of Hollow Knight, but basically you may gain any of the charms, powers, and equipment/armors in the game even if they weren't usable by the knight. There will be extra features to help you with normal Naruto things, but the system will remain based around Hollow Knight for the most part. You also will have a pretty high affinity for insects and things of the such."
"I have given some special people in this world essence and once I plug up this hole in your soul all you need to do is get the essence and increase how much you feel. You will get chakra and everything normal people in this world will get and maybe something extra like a kekkei genkai if you're lucky."
"I don't…know what that is?" My confusion was clear I guess because she gave me a blank face and just waved her hand saying "Just go and figure it out. Good luck my little knight we shall see what happens ufufufufufufufu~"
A swarm of beetles and insects encircled me blocking my vision and before I knew it I was in a house surrounded by a dense forest.
Silk webs and spiders all around me and all I know is I'm the son of the clan head with nothing, but I know that my name is Nuru Weaver.
