Chapter 2: Gottland - The fading kingdom

Through dreams of this kingdom we travel and the nightmares we forever took serene.

The grace from the above bestowed upon this kingdom has always been the curse from down below, so they say.

In this curse, we slept in calm. In this nightmare, we inspire.

Heaven was long gone and in hell we find rest. There is nothing in beyond this place. Witness the last bastion of this world's civilization, Gottland.

The fungus among the murky silt started to reek. The gloomy path has been lit by torches burning cinders to ashes. The path has always deemed to be gloomy. At the end of it, a massive gate of iron and rust halted the woman and the beheaded.

"Here we are!" Declared the woman. The beheaded glanced behind and back to the gate a few times. It's been up to something.

"Totergott. Our very small town." She exclaimed and swivelled an eye towards the beheaded. "I'm sorry if it's quiet around here. There are only a few of us living in this place."

The woman reaches her small, pale hand on the beheaded's rotting arm, "Let's go!" The woman said. While walking among the dimly path, a strong gust of wind suddenly moved the torches, killing the flame. A screech was heard afterwards.

The woman remained silent and her eyes were fixated on the dim lights illuminated by the small, old cottages from a far.

"We must hurry!" She exclaimed and hurriedly pushed the dirty wheels of her wagon. The beheaded walks behind her slowly afterwards.

The beheaded had lost its sight on the woman as if she disappeared unnoticed in the dark, ghastly path.

"Follow... the light..." A sinister voice came out from the beheaded's flame. The beheaded continued to walk, staggering and its sight fixated on the lights.

Upon getting closer, it saw a cross-shaped pylon of flames with smaller torches circling around it. A tall, hooded man appeared behind the pylon holding somewhat a dagger and lying in front of the tall man was a woman clothed in rags and its head was of the skull of a goat.

The tall, hooded man raised his dagger and screamed, "By the unyielding grace of Chokmah, I hereby grant myself as your offer. By the undying mercy of Binah, I embody myself her grace, cut through the spirit's dream! My soul as a payment for the toll, to end this condemed soul as my clear goal..."

Thrust! Blood sprinkling out of the woman's heart following a frightening screech. The wind blew heavily and stopped after a few seconds.

The hooded man pulled his blood-stained dagger out of the corpse. "She finally... took her slumber." Spoke the hooded man with a sickly voice. Blood dripping off from his robe, he suddenly fell on the ground.

"Leone!" The woman suddenly appeared in front of the beheaded. The beheaded stood silent while watching.

One by one, the residents came out of their houses after the incident, exchanging words and gossips.

"Ah! Another ghost!"

Screamed the pale-looking child with his right hand holding a withered stick and his left hand clutching and old, metal pole right in front of their small, wrecked hut just beside the beheaded.

Following the scream of his father telling him to get inside, the pale-looking child did the opposite and ran quickly towards the beheaded.

The child grabbed the hand of the ghost.

Father, look! The ghost had a weird looking stick on its arm!".

The hooded man after hearing this stood up groggily and fixed his eye on the beheaded. "You are.... I recognize that chainmail!". "Leone! Don't get up, let me help you!" The woman in the wagon interjected and zoomed towards the hooded man holding a small pail full of water but the hooded man pushed her and she fell on the ground with the water splashed all over her body. "What is your problem?!" Screamed the woman.

"Child stay away!" Screamed the hooded man as he sees the child up close the beheaded.

"That thing will kill you!" The hooded man leaped towards the beheaded and draws his dagger out of the sheath. "How dare you come into--"

In all of a sudden, the beheaded flew and crashed into the ground a few meters before the entrance gate.

"What..?!" Screamed the hooded man. His eyes grew wide after witnessing such unusual act done by a red, cloaked figure of a woman holding a long, thin spear with her slender, long legs and feet tip-toeing in the roof on one of the houses right next to the beheaded's crash spot.

The woman took off her hood and horns grew out towards the back of her head and all over her face masking her and her long white hair brushed through the air as she walks with the sky turning into crimson black after every step she takes.

"Give me the head!" Said the cloaked woman in a soft-spoken voice referring to the dead woman's goat skull head.

"Why should I?" Screamed the hooded man.

Suddenly, the hooded man fell on the ground. "Stop being persistent." The cloaked woman appeared standing in front of the hooded man. She grabbed the goat skull right next to the corpse of the exorcised woman.

"Humanity's last bastion of hope? Fuck that."

"Leone!" Cried the woman in the wagon creeping towards the hooded man.

"The cults have been spreading lies for a thousand years. No wonder, Keter's curse has been rotting you all to hell. So they say. Quit spreading those heresies coming out from your scriptures! There is no fucking god in this place other than ourselves! This empire has been long forgotten. No rules, no justice, no order. Only the strong will survive in this hellish kingdom and take the crowning glory as a god. That just sounds pretty awful!"

"You... are you from the Damocles?!" Scream the woman holding the right arm of the unconcious hooded man.

The cloaked woman looked back "cut through that god and attune yourselves!"

A bright flash suddenly covered the entire place.

"I come to educate these fools. Keter is not a god. Foolishly embracing its grim nightmare. I, a wielder of the sword will cut through the heart of that nightmare. Keter, will last no longer!"
