Chapter 22: Weapon choice ritual

"Has anyone gone through the ritual of weapon choice yet?" Atalanta asked.

The students looked at each other confusedly, none seemed to have gone through the weapon choice ritual, and most didn't even know what Atalanta was talking about.

"Teacher" Amy raised her hand. "What is the weapon choice ritual?"

"The weapon choice ritual is a ritual by which a Hunter can discover which weapon is best for him. This ritual is 100% safe and saves the Hunter a lot of time in choosing a weapon to kill monsters" Atalanta explained.

"It's possible to show more than one weapon, if that happens you'll have to choose between them"

Atalanta finished explaining and looked at her students. Everyone seemed to have more or less understood the explanation.

Black lines formed on her forehead and Atalanta clenched her teeth furiously as she saw a scene happening in one of the corners of the classroom. A student with blue hair picked up in a ponytail was scratching his ear with one hand and pulling out a snot with the other and a student with short black hair was sleeping peacefully next to him.

She sighed and decided not to tell them anything, they were terrifying geniuses and they were going to be the pillars of class D.

"This time we're not going to go out in a set order, whoever wants to go out voluntarily raises his hand."

"I want!" A boy got up quickly.

Everyone looked at Ryan in surprise, he had reacted too enthusiastically.

Ryan felt all eyes fixed on him and blushed slightly. This sent another wave of surprise to the rest of the class D students.

(What's gotten into this arrogant Young Master?) They all thought.

Atalanta looked at Ryan with a strange look, she felt that he had been acting strangely since he had been the only one who had failed the initial test. She thought she was going to have to find a way to motivate him and get him back on his feet.

She didn't expect that the current Ryan not only didn't seem depressed but she could see that he had an enormous desire for power and improvement. Atalanta didn't know if this was a good or a bad sign.

"Come closer," Atalanta said.

Atalanta then pulled out a strange scroll and dropped it on the floor. Inside the scroll there was an uncountable amount of strange symbols forming a circular pattern leaving a hole in the center of the pattern.

"Put your hand on top of the scroll, right where the blank hole is" Atalanta ordered Ryan.

Ryan carefully followed Atalanta's instructions. He approached the scroll and extended his arm until his wrist was just above the blank.

Atalanta then pulled a small dagger out of her storage ring. She made a cut on Ryan's wrist and began to sing a strange spell.

"Oh great Karttikeya, son of destruction and violent justice, god of war, I beg you to point the way to victory."

The scroll shone and the wound on Ryan's wrist miraculously healed. The blood that had fallen into the scroll began to move, forming images of different weapons.

"Karttikeya? That name sounds familiar," Setanta muttered.

Ryan's eyes were completely white and he seemed to be in a trance. A few seconds passed and Ryan's eyes returned to normal. He looked at Atalanta and his gaze contained different emotions such as disbelief, fear and enthusiasm.

"Have you seen him?" Atalanta asked with a smile.

"Yes," nodded Ryan enthusiastically.

Everyone looked at Ryan and Atalanta curiously, they wanted to know what they were talking about.

Sahazel, who had previously been sleeping on his table, looked up and looked at the scroll. Ryan's blood was still moving but it seemed it was already forming a precise shape.

A kind of curved single-edged sword, that was the shape that Ryan's ideal weapon had taken.

"A sabre" murmured Sahazel.

Atalanta saw the weapon that had formed on the scroll and was surprised.

"A sabre is a weapon you don't usually see much of." Atalanta exclaimed.

"A sabre is a single-edged sword which is slightly curved. This sword is sharp and arose out of the need for speed in combat. This is achieved by cutting and not leaving the blade of the weapon embedded in the body of the adversary unlike most of the swords of a hand, which are lunge.

The curvature is generally located from the tip to the middle of the sabre" Atalanta explained the characteristics of the sabre to Ryan and the rest of the class.

"You're done with your weapon selection ceremony, tomorrow you'll have to report to the sabre dojo to have your first specific class."

"I understand." Ryan leaned back into his seat.

Everyone looked with emotion at the scroll that still showed the sword formed by Ryan's blood.

"The scroll is absorbing the blood!" exclaimed a black boy 2 metres tall.

Everyone watched in astonishment as Ryan's blood was slowly absorbed by the scroll.

"The next one can now move forward to perform his ceremony" Atalanta informed them.

"I want to go!"

"Me, me!"

Several students raised their hands wanting to be the next to leave. Even Fleur wanted to leave to perform the ceremony with a slightly excited face.

"I'm going."

The dominant voice sounded throughout the class and the students unconsciously picked up their arms. Everyone looked at Sahazel who had risen without receiving permission from Atalanta.

Sahazel stood in front of the scroll and extended his right arm. With a quick movement of his left hand he cut off his right wrist.

His eyes turned charcoal for a moment and red blood fell down Sahazel's wrist. Atalanta looked at Sahazel suspiciously as she had seen her eyes change for a moment or so she thought, but did not think too much and recited the spell.

"Oh great Karttikeya, son of destruction and violent justice, god of war, I beg you to point the way to victory."

Sahazel felt an external force trying to enter his subconscious. He snorted scornfully and let that force into his mind.

He felt that this force was trying to bring his consciousness into his subconscious. He let him do what he wanted without making difficulties.

Sahazel appeared in a totally dark space, in front of him there was a blurred figure.

"I am the great Karttikeya, son of Shiva, god of destruction, and Parvati. I am the great god of Hindu warfare and will also be your guide in choosing your ideal weapon"

Sahazel could now see the figure clearly. A white man 2.5m high, he had 6 heads and as many arms carrying a different weapon in each arm.

Karttikeya looked at the boy in front of him and felt something strange when he saw that he did not show any emotion on his face when he knew who he was talking to. Seeing that the boy wasn't going to say anything, he kept talking.

"Cough, in exchange for showing your ideal weapon you'll have to meet two conditions."

Karttikeya waited for the boy to ask him about the two conditions and scratched his dazed head when he did not see him react.

"Ehem, the first will be that you can't talk about my existence to other people so you have to make an oath about your soul."

Karttikeya smiled as he saw the first reaction on the boy's face, his frown furrowed.

"The second will be that you have to offer a year of your vital life"

Sahazel reacted for the second time, this time raising his eyebrows slightly.

"Are you willing to make this pact?" Karttikeya asked.

Karttikeya hoped the boy would accept without hesitation, but he frowned and his face changed to a rage when he saw the contemptuous look Sahazel was giving him.

"You really are an amorphous idiot, son of Shiva"

"I remember why Karttikeya sounds familiar" muttered Setanta.

"Wasn't that that amorphous man who almost died from a slap in the face from him?"
