Chapter 1: The ugly morning.
Amanda wakes up to a dizzy morning with her head jammed with brain fog. She pulls of the curtains to the dusty window that faces a street full of bustle. The people on the street battling against the wind of time to reach their workplaces. As she looks right below the window, she sees an old man with a worn out long coat standing on the pavement leaning against the street light with exhausted eyes. Seems that he is homeless and waiting for a kind soul to show up and give him some food and carry him throughout the day.
The busy London street just turns a blind eye as people pass by, with earphones in their ears and ignorance in their eyes. Suddenly out of nowhere a guy gives him a couple pounds as it seems from far. The man indifferently keeps the money under the loose wool sweater and walks across the street to get some bread.
She is kinda moved by the ignorance that the city showed. She looks at the clock and it's 7 already. She's late. It's her acting audition at 7.30. Somehow nothing seems to bother her, not even the thought of her not being able for audition. It's not the fact that she was not excited for it, or the role was unimportant but life for her seems lifeless these days.
She gets ready, carries her bag, locks the door and walks down the stairs and through the street, and stands there waiting for the bus. She was lucky as right next minute the bus arrives. She steps inside and seats herself in the window seat. As the bus moves, she is again met by the sight of the old man, she saw before, drinking tea and lying under a street lamp. For some reason he seemed to amplify her gloomy state. Throughout the journey, she thinks about the poor man and what would have forced him to be there. The audition somehow was overshadowed by the scene.
