Chapter 41: Fighting the Dungeon Boss

After Haruhiro noticed the way the dungeon boss is taking action, he knew that all it's been doing it giving warning shots.

Haruhiro understands what is happening right now. As the dungeon boss is classified as a Guardian Spirit it will attack whoever goes inside this room and try to take whatever it is guarding.

Now that Haruhiro and Nanako both have yet to show any sort of intention in stealing the item that it is guarding, it's only been giving warning shots.

However, once they do show interest Haruhiro is sure it will not hesitate to kill both of them.

That... Haruhiro cannot let happen.

He has to obtain that item whatevever it is. The setting of this dungeon seems entirely focus on that item and Haruhiro believes that it's an item that will certainly help not just him but his wives as well.

Breathing in, he calmed his nervous nerves. Haruhiro looked at Nanako and said, "Let me handle this fight."

Nanako could see the fire of determination in Haruhiro's eyes and so she only nodded her head in affirmation.

Haruhiro asked her to leave this fight because he wanted to know how strong he currently is right now.

「Name: Sato Haruhiro Age: 17

Gender: M LV: 13

STR: 18 INT: 16

CON: 22 CHR: 19

DEX: 16 SPR: 35 」

His level rose up at an incredible pace because of all the kills they've done inside the dungeon, however, he still doesn't know the limit of this strength.

The enemy in front of him can answer his doubts though which is why he will not let such a waste happen.

He closed his eyes and focused his mind.

Haruhiro placed his right hand in front of him, his hand then entered the separate space of his Inventory. Inside it, he grabbed the sword that was dropped by killing Lancer Beverdrine.

Once the greatsword is out of the Inventory, it took Haruhiro a bit of an effort to carry the greatsword.

[Blue-Edged Cutter

- Sword made of unknown materials, the sword of the hero Lancer Beverdrine. Believed to have the property to carry its wielders ability.]

Just like the name suggests, the greatsword has on its edge the color blue. Its length is almost as tall as Haruhiro and it's width as wide as Haruhiro's torso.

It's blade straight and thick, definitely weighing more than Haruhiro. The sword has an elegant yet overbearing design that those who see it would subconsciously shy away from it.

After the sword, he took out the pendant he got from the same kill. The pendant has an X-shape and has the color scheme of silver and gold.

[Hero's Pendant

- A pendant that protects it's users from any physical harm. Given to the hero Lancer Beverdrine by his liege. Erects a powerful barrier that will protect the one wearing the pendant.]

Haruhiro wore it and a cool sensation enveloped him briefly before it disappeared.

Nanako looked at Haruhiro, her eyes filled with worry. She's still worried for him even though she knows that he could fight very well.

It then hit her. 'He seems to have grown up so much over the course of just a few days. Is it because of that fight that happened before? Who did he fight anyway?'

That day when she saw him wounded, her heart ached. The wounds on his body couldn't be called fatal but seeing him hurt like that she wanted to search the city herself and hunt his enemy down.

How could they hurt him like that? How could they possibly bear to hurt someone as precious as him?

Nanako's mind became blank, flames enveloped her body and she burned a whole lot of the area she was in back then.

Remembering what happened that day she frowned. Nanako really did not know what happened to her back then and she no longer cares about it. Seeing the way Haruhiro is preparing for the battle, her beating heart quickened in pace.

The worry in her eyes disappeared and her eyes shone with a strange light. She observed his figure and started to imagine what happened just hours before.

Nanako imagined his well-toned body and rising dragon, she blushed. She knows she shouldn't be thinking of this right now but it seems that she's still affected by Yasumi's ability. Or so what she wants to believe.

A good while later, Haruhiro slowly opened his eyes. Nanako noticed how the atmosphere around him seemed to have changed. His back seems stronger as well.

"Let's end this quickly, I'm excited to know what rewards I'll earn by clearing this dungeon and killing you."

Haruhiro said to the dungeon boss which dumbfounded Nanako, however, before she could remind Haruhiro to be careful he already started his attack.

He first jumped towards the dungeon boss and then raised the greatsword over his head. The greatsword struck the ground, blowing away debris and dust. The dungeon boss, however, is no longer in the same place.

He felt something behind him and hurriedly used the greatsword as a shield, the paw of the large wolf then made contact with his greatsword. Haruhiro was almost knocked back by the force if not for the help of his shadows.

Haruhiro made his shadows support him by carrying more of the weight behind the attack.

Not wanting to stay passive, Haruhiro used his shadows to attack the blind spot of the wolf. It hit, though his attack lacked force and it didn't harm the dungeon boss that much.

The dungeon boss then jumped back and landed at the edge of the stage. It howled and as it did, shadows rose from the ground and formed into Shadow Wolves.

"Shit."

Haruhiro couldn't help but curse under his breath. He looked at all the summoned enemies and felt that it would actually take more time than he planned.

Wielding the greatsword, Haruhiro started to slash the enemies with great ferocity. Each slash defeating one to three enemies. He would slash, block, or dodge as he battled the enemies.

Nanako watched all this happen with great interest, her eyes ever so fixed on Haruhiro. If she is some sort of 2D character then her eyes would already be heart-shaped.

The dungeon boss watched Haruhiro battle the Shadow Wolves. After a while when it noticed that Haruhiro is immersed in the battle, the dungeon boss moved to attack. It bared its fangs at Haruhiro and tried to bite him.

Haruhiro noticed it early, however, the encircling of the Shadow Wolves around him made it almost impossible for him to move away in time.

The fangs sank in, blood splattered and Nanako's desperate scream is heard.

... Or that's how it was supposed to be.

Before the fangs closed in on his body a bright glow of light covered Haruhiro's body. It then formed a barrier that protected him from the danger of losing his life.

After that Haruhiro smiled and said in a low voice, "You fell right for it."

His shadows forming into one large sharp spike is thrust to where the Divine Wolf Spirit's heart is supposed to be.

Haruhiro and Nanako then heard the dungeon boss howl in great sorrow. The Shadow Wolves all disappeared only leaving behind the Diving Wolf Spirit.

Nanako has been watching this exciting exchange. When she saw how Haruhiro almost died yet didn't and how she noticed that it was actually just a plan of his, she wanted to scold him then and there. It really scared her enough that she almost had a heart attack.
