Chapter 10: Chapter 10 - The Dark Elves
"Halt! Tell us your name stranger and what do you want from this village?" the guard asked.
Even though they trusted the fairy, they still aimed their bows at him. That was what the chief ordered, never trust someone if it wasn't an elf. They weren't sure that Alex was an elf or not but his presence gave them chills, that's why they are preparing if he might attack.
Alex looked up and raise his hands in defense. Paimon told him something in what to tell them. He spoke. "I'm a roaming mercenary, I came here to ask if your village needs help!"
The guards looked at each other and one of them nodded his head. Then, one of the guards rushed down from the tower and opened the gates.
As the gate opened, a dark elf raised a hand to make Alex wait, then, another dark elf approached with a slightly better-looking attire and spoke.
"Are you registered as an adventurer? Or are you just a mercenary?"
"I'm just a mercenary, I can't tell where country I am living but I assure you that I can be trusted" Alex answered calmly.
"Paimon can vouch for him! Alex is a good man and only to help you guys for free!" Paimon followed and told them his name. This was their plan, to earn achievements so people must know who he is.
Thinking of something, the leader thought about why he was alone. A mercenary should be with a group. He asked. "How strong are you?" The leader sensed that Alex can't be taken carelessly because of what happened when he first arrived, his presence brought chills to them.
"Confident enough to beat a Triple-A class monster." His voice didn't sound arrogant, but it was confident that made them believe this man in front of them is really strong.
"I see..." The leader looked at him from head to toe with curiosity. Then, he spoke, "Our village doesn't need help but the main kingdom do." His expression changed bitterly as he started to talk.
"I have been with many battles young man and I can discern that you're a strong warrior. You see, the castle is preparing their troops along with Princess Aura Shurifon and elite adventurers to cleanse a graveyard."
"A graveyard?" Paimon asked, interested in it.
"Yes, Willow Grove Memorial Park has an active activity of an unknown powerful necromancer raising the dead. As of now, they haven't attacked any village yet but their strength can't be taken lightly."
"How many days did this happened?" Alex asked. Fighting a group of undead might be fun because their numbers can become a ton of essence for him. Making him and his minions stronger.
"About a week or so... At first, the kingdom only sends a few adventurers at least C class and above. However, the moment news spread about A class level undead was roaming around the cemetery, they took action personally."
"They should have cleaned it before making them grow stronger..." Sighed Alex, followed by Paimon. Both of them thought the same thing, still, this event can give him essence and fame if he can plan it properly.
"Please enter in our village for further discussions."
Alex and Paimon followed the village chief inside. He scanned the village for candidates but didn't find any. Most of the elves here wore revealing clothes, making them look more exotic and bewitching.
The group entered a large cabin where the chief is living. They offered Alex tea and their best dish to make him feel welcomed. Their treatment was too much. However, the village chief is now sure that even just by having a conversation with Alex, they will get along well.
"As an elf, I'm sensitive when it comes to magic capacity." The chief spoke while looking at Alex with a serious expression. "And yours is a terrifying one." The Elves around them gulped. Their chief never lied, so if that is what he said, it means it's true.
"So, all I can tell you is, please help us... The rest of the elven kingdom is also sending their troops but to what the king told as three days ago, the soldiers are not enough."
Alex felt Paimon pulling his collar. Looking at her, Paimon smiled and nods her head. This certainly is an opportunity to be famous and also earning some achievements.
"As I told you earlier. I'm a traveling mercenary that is helping people for free. Just tell me what to do and I'll be there to help them."
"You have my thanks. My name is Jassin Torra. Excuse me for my late introduction. I'll send your name to the guild and tell you when to go there. But for now, can you stay in this village? We will provide shelter and food so you don't have to worry."
Alex didn't decline and was sent to his own cabin. A section in the village where most guests will be sleeping. It was still afternoon so Alex toured around the village with Paimon. However, this time, he took off his hat. His long silver-ish hair fluttered while just by looking at his eyes, women are already charmed.
"I knew this guy isn't simple." Jassin chuckled as he heard the news about how handsome, Alex was and he wasn't even taking his mask off!
But what disturbed him was his magic capacity, it was terrifying. The first time he felt similar to this was when Princess Aura was born. She has a strong magic capacity when she was still a baby. What more today, as she is already 18. However, he still knew Alex was hiding his true strength.
"I hope things will go well. Alex and the princess, not bad if I might say. I should introduce him to the king." He leaned back and closed his eyes to relax. It has been a week that he didn't sleep well because of a battle that will transpire soon.
Meanwhile, Alex and Paimon were being surrounded by the Dark Elves, but mostly women, that made the husbands and boyfriend jealous and angry. Yet they can't do anything as he was the guests of the chief.
"What continent did you come from?"
"Why are your eyes red?"
"Can you make a baby with me?"
Alex can only smile behind his mask. This was also fun, being surrounded by exotic dark-skinned beauties. Sadly, no one was his type and simply talks to them casually while Paimon was showing off proudly by sitting on his lap and closed her eyes with a gentle smile, feeling the hand of Alex stroking her hair.
