Chapter 46: Butcher of the Forest (Part 3)

300 bandits... versus 6. To a normal person, they would think 6 fighting 300 is impossible on even ground. Usually, they'd run when things go south. To some games like Dynasty Fighters, 300 is nothing, trivial, inconsequential.

For MMO like Evolutionism, it's either suicidal or just a Tuesday, no middle ground.

But me right now, I'm slaying them by the dozens. It is because I am an S rank now and slaying the C ranks so easily, it's a 3 rank difference. On top of that, I have regeneration. That slash on my back would've made weak if not fatal.

Although, I am not immortal. Thanks to Superspeed Regeneration, I can get away with my heart destroyed or my brain. But not when both are destroyed and definitely not when I get decapped.

My monsters and I tear through the masses. Some try to run, some try to beg for mercy or help, some try to fight desperately, and some even resign themselves.

[83 hostiles remain.]

[66 hostiles remain.]

In the end...

[59 hostiles remain.]

They die altogether.

"Where is the S rank?"

[The S rank target is ahead of you and approaching.]

Good, I can take down the head of the army and the rest will lose motivation to fight. I dashed ahead of the dwindling army and came after the big dog of the army. I did encounter an S rank like that dragon before, but fighting it? In person? In the flesh!? VR got nothing on that shit.

"There he is!" one voice said.

"A child?" the other said.

"We are losing the raid to a few monsters AND a child?" the ogre said, glaring at the goblin.

"But that child took out over half of us if not already! We don't know if Nolten Village caught wind." the goblin said.

"No matter, if our C ranks get killed so easily, then what we're dealing with is an S rank. I have dealt with S ranks before." the ogre said.

"He's coming this way!" the goblin said.

I continue to run with my sword in hand and my mace on the other. My face is still smiling, stained with the blood of my enemies. This rush...when did I have this kind of rush back when I was alive?

When I was at the final boss of a game? When I fired my first gun? When I declared war on the corrupt president? When I killed an actual human being? So many types of rushes makes my heart beat faster, my eyes widen, and sometimes I don't feel anything until later. Adrenaline. Its always there when you need it.

Even when you are in a different world.

I looked in the distance and see a large figure, this size of his makes Grundel look like a little brother to him. But this time, his skin is pale blue. He holds a mace that is bigger than my body and yet it's being held by one hand so easily.

This must be an ogre because he had no pig-like features like the nose. Its teeth on the lower jaw are larger than the orcs as well.

"Check his stats."

[Checking...complete.]

<Name: Arzus>

<Gender: Male>

<Race: Ogre>

<Rank: S>

<Skills: Fire Magic-V, Earth Magic-V, Menace, Bravery, Regeneration, Thick Skin, Super Strength, Fire Resistance, Earth Resistance>

<Unique Skills: Enrage>

<Ultimate Skills: None>

I guess Earth Magic is out of the question and I don't have Fire Magic. No matter, I will take out the head so the rest will follow!

However, the group of bandits went in front of me, lined up with shields. I'm not worried about that, I wanted that ogre.

I used Wind Magic to propel myself over the shielders and again to propel myself forward. He's in my sights until...

[Incoming attack from below.]

*Stab!*

Something stopped me, I looked down to see that a spear had pierced me, right through my stomach. And then, a blaring sound went in my head.

[Warning. Your stomach has been pierced. You are bleeding profusely.]

[Injury detected. Now regenerating...]

[Warning. Foreign object obstructing regeneration.]

"Hah! Got him! Kill him!" the bandit celebrated.

[Incoming attacks. Evasion is recommended.]

They ready their spears to stab me all over. I can get away with either my heart or brain being stabbed, but not both. I swing my sword to cut off the spearhead from the shaft and use Wind Magic to propel me away.

I landed on the ground and looked at the spear and pulled it out. Blood spilled out from removing it, but it soon patched up and the bleeding stop. Those wooden shields reinforced by iron is a good way to defend physical attacks.

But they get destroyed quicker when it comes to magic. Especially Fire Magic.

"System, Fire Magic-VI."

[Acknowledged, paid 15,000 EP. Fire Magic-VI acquired.]

I plant my sword on the ground and covered my hand in fire. I then used a Tier V Fire Magic, Flame Wave at the shields. Though it could attract the Forest Guardian, but as long as the forest isn't at risk of a forest fire, it won't jump in.

"He can use Fire Magic?" Arzus said with his eyebrow raised.

My Flame Wave engulfed the shields whole, igniting them ablaze. The bandits had to ditch the shields in order to not catch fire. I'm gonna need to put them at bay and I know what to do with it.

"System. Ice Magic, Water Magic. Tier VI. Now."

[Acknowledged, paid 30,000 EP. Ice Magic-VI, Water Magic-VI acquired.]

I picked up my sword and I dashed forward with Wind Magic and tried it again, propelled myself in the air to use Tier VI Water Magic, Waterfall on the masses. Complimenting the name of the spell, large amounts of water surged forth from my hands and crashed upon the bandits.

While in the air, I simply used Tier I Ice Magic, Frost Shard. Since water and ice goes hand in hand by effectively freezing my targets.

"Water Magic and Ice Magic?" Arzus said. "Not bad."

"Oh no, he's versatile too!? We gotta kill him quick!"

"That would've put him at death's door if not killed him. And yet he regenerated." Arzus said.

"He can regenerate too!? We're facing a monster for sure!" the goblin yelled in a panic.

I continued my way to the main course and I flew towards the ogre to crush his skull with my mace!

*Beep! Beep!*

[Incoming attack!]

By that message I see a giant mace coming from the side. If that hits me, there's a chance I'll die in an instant despite my regeneration.

I used my Wind Magic to propel me upwards to avoid it, hoping it would miss.

*WHAM!!*

*Crack!*

When I heard the crack, I see Arzus upside down, sideways, and back to normal, but then he is upside down again.

[Warning. Your legs has been broken. Now regenerating...]

I looked down to see that my legs are broken to a point its comparable to abstract art. It's twisted in ways it shouldn't. Bones sticking out, blood spilling everywhere, the pain should've been excruciating to a normal person or straight knock 'em out from shock.

And yet, I keep on the offensive. I used 4 Tier IV Ice Magic Spells, Frost Spears at Arzus to retaliate. The 4 icy spears flew towards the ogre.

*Stab!* *Stab!* *Stab!* *Stab!*

They hit the target, but he blocked my magic with his large free hand. That ogre got some quick reflexes for someone so big.

I used Wind Magic to propel myself back to gain distance.

I landed on my feet and prepare my Wind Magic again to resume my offensive.

*WHUNK!*

A metallic whack was heard in the air and everything went silent. Everything I see became blinding and blurry. Everything was distorted, warped, and even flickering. Until I saw red...my blood and then a sense of nausea overtook me.

"Ack! Blegh!" I vomited blood as a result and a blaring sound went in my head despite my loss of hearing.

[Warning. Your skull has been fractured.]

[Warning. Concussion detected.]

[Danger! Your brain has been damaged due the blunt force trauma.]

[Danger! You are suffering brain hemorrhage.]

[Now regenerating...]

Despite that, I fell to the ground as I lost my sense of balance. My senses is slowly returning to normal.

"Hehehe! I got him! He's dead!" the bandit laughed hysterically, but that was short lived as I stood up.

I stood up with a dent on my head, only to reform back into its original state. I turned to the bitch who clocked me in the head and his face twisted in confusion and fear.

"N-no way...you're still-"

*SMASH!*

I didn't let him finish his sentence and swung my mace. As my mace hit, his head exploded into a bloodied pinata.

[Injury healed, no immediate danger.]

"No way...no normal human can survive that blow." the goblin said. "Is he even human?!"

"You bet your collard greens I am human, gobby. Now..." I cracked my neck.

"Let's dance."
