Chapter 36: Say
'What is she thinking? There must be something that has happened....' Max thought while looking at Merry when they both were standing near the balcony.Merry was lost in her own world while Max was wondering how to approach.
"Has anyone misbehaved with you?" Max with quite a serious look.
"No! Not a-at all ! They all a-are very mild and kind towards me." Merry denied while shaking her head.
Max raised his brow in doubt but the when he looked at her unavoidable face, he sighed.
Max's eyes widened when a breeze passed through them, making Merry's hair flow flawlessly which was enough for his heart throbbing.
"You are really.…" Max reached her face and brushed his thumb on her supple skin and dissolved his soul into her eyes.Merry was baffled.
"You are breathtaking my princess." Max complimented with whatever word he could collect to describe her innocent beauty in his knowledge and look that said I want to say more in his eyes. Merry lowered her head as she felt diffident. Almost got her eyes numb with inexpressible sensation of gratefulness of having him near her.
"Would you please give an honour to have a chance to dance with my dear wife?" Max asked her while kneeling down and offering his hand to her.Merry reached with her trembling hands.
"M-My pleasure." Merry accepted with a smile.
Music was being played, many guests were dancing with their partners and some of them with other's.
Max for the first time reached the dance floor.With Merry's hand in his, he joined in there with full grace.Everyone looked at their direction.It felt like, they did not expect him at such social part of the function.
As the music went on, Max held Merry's hand with his one hand and her waist with another.
For her, it was quite special feeling ,she felt shy but comfortable within his arms.
They danced gracefully and all time Max was paying attention towards Merry's comfort.
Everyone was impressed except for some psychos.
At last, Max put a kiss on her hands with affection.All ladies were impressed and jealous at the same time.
"From my point of view, he is a complete husband material." Some lady murmured who was standing near Charlotte.
Charlotte was already pissed off and looked as if she was warning up within herself for some reason.
Max and Merry got on their respective seats after getting off the dance space.
After a while, servents served them the best variety of food of the continent.Max offered Merry a plate filled with lot of food .
She looked at him with shocked eyes.
Max chuckled as he got the idea why she was looking him like that.
"What's the matter? Eat."
"This m-much?"
"Ofcourse, you have to."
"If you won't then you have to tell me what is bothering you."
"There is n-nothing."
"Then you have to eat."
"Max? " Merry was certain why he was doing this.
"Commander! The Bishop is calling for you." Frederick reached in their table to inform.
"Is it urgent?" Max asked.
"Yes, he needs your presence." Frederick replied with a nod.
"I will be back soon. You finish your supper properly." Max told Merry with a light pat on her head.She nodded obediently.
As soon as Max was not near her, Robert and Dready reached towards Merry and stood behind her chair.She got surprised when she saw large shadows over her.
"Do you need anything Mylady?" Dready asked lowering his back to listen to her.
"Oh! It's you sir." Merry turned and felt relieved.
"Have you both h-had your dinner?" Merry asked with politeness.
"Yes Mylady! I ate two big grilled chicken legs and garlic bread.It was quite delicious." Just when Dready was about to say something, Robert started off with all himself.
"Oh really?!"Merry too showed same energy and interest to hear him.
"Ladyship didn't ask you this much stupid." Dready nagged.
Just then, a tall , good looking, sharp faced man appeared near them with prestigious smile.
"Sorry for late introduction Lady Merry, I am Kenin descendant of Qenn Empire." It was non other than Lord Kenin.
" I a-am Mariana king Masin's daughter and Lord Maximilian's wife. It's nice to m-meet you" Merry introduced herself as per social acknowledgement.
"If you don't mind mylady, Could I have a chance to dance with a beautiful lady like you?" Kenin asked while offering his hand for acceptance.Robert and Dready looked at each other.
"S-Sorry my lord but I can't." Merry rejected his proposal on the spot without hesitation.But deep down she was nervous too.
"Don't be shy Mylady, you can clearly see, others are also changing their dance partners.It is common way to share greetings and formalities."Kenin insisted.
Merry looked at Robert while gesturing her eyes to ask for help from their side.It was just what they were waiting for, her allowance.
"Sorry lord Kenin , our ladyship has hurted her ankle while dancing just now, hope you understand. " Robert put forward a better to get out of his annoyance.
"Oh is that so? My bad..Is it too severe mylady?" Kenin asked in concerned tone.
Dready and Robert were surprised at his change in behaviour.
" N-No! it's n-not that much..I mean yes but not.." Merry got puzzled up with her own words.
"Hope it gets better and I get a chance to have a dance with Lord Maximilian's wife tomorrow." He added with a foxy smile .
Just as Kenin was walking away from them afterwards,he sensed someone and looked. It was Calvin, who was glaring at him all this time.He had got the idea what was also in his mind through his actions.
