Chapter 18: Grow In Power
"Give me one good reason why I shouldn't trash this place!" Daryl asked her, still aggressive.
"You attacked our force field, we had to retaliate," the woman answered.
"I barely scratched the thing!"
"It might seem that you hadn't put enough force to the throw but the reading we got seemed like you threw a meteor at us. We sent off world ships to come and intervene and when they saw you might be intelligent, they tried to communicate with you by using language of higher species. When you showed you didn't understand, the fleet admiral must have become angry that a lower lifeform would attack our planet and ordered for your eradication. We should have known the Galaxy itself is big enough to hide such a powerful species as yourself. But I am a little surprised that the Vultrumites would allow such species to live!" From that sentence, Daryl knew that she didn't read his entire memories because sh was insinuating there were more Kryptonians. That made him sigh in relief.
"Are you going to evacuate the planet due to the collision?" Daryl asked.
"Why should we? This is the only system Vultrumites haven't set their eyes on. If we leave Thragg will order our eradication. Our psychic is enough to render Vultrumites immobile which means we are a threat to them. So, we decided to stop the collision by using a Star Eater."
"Star Eater? Is that a weapon?"
"No, it is a race of gigantic organisms that feed on stars. We decided to just send it to one star, let it eat its fill and we will be safe!" she answered, quite proudly. Daryl was anything but happy.
"I cannot let you do that!" he told them, making the woman frown.
"Why?"
"I have done too much damage for this, I cannot let this go," Daryl answered.
"If those stars collide we are all going to die! Are you going to let gazillions of living beings die for your own selfish reasons?" she asked him and Daryl's eyes turned blue once again.
"Yes!" he said, making the woman give him a hate filled glare.
"Well, you are too late, the Star Eater has already been sent out!" she told him, making Daryl look upwards in anxiousness. When he was about to fly out of the planet, he found himself immobile, like an invisible force was holding him in place.
"I... can't...let...you...leave!" the woman strained to say. She felt like she was holding a whole planet in place and it made her want to open up her skull and release the pressure she was feeling. Daryl looked at her with pity.
"This might slow me down but it is necessary," Daryl said to himself as his body started shining blue. The woman could feel the atmosphere suddenly heat up before a pulse of blue light flew out of his body, turning everything in its path into ashes and the ground into lava, her included. He had just rel asked some radiation from the blue star into an all killing wave of radiation.
With his movement unimpeded, he shot out of the planet's atmosphere, his speed still great but not as great as before. Not for long, he saw a big ass ship heading for a star and looking through it, he saw an octopus looking creature the size of the freaking moon bound in place with metal.
'This will take maximum effort!" Daryl told himself as he past the ship and stopped some distance in front of it. He then turned around and flew at the ship in a blue blur, crashing onto the front of the ship. His muscles tightened as he started pushing against the ship with every ounce of his strength for some moments before the ship started to slowly come to a stop. A little more pushing at it finally stopped but it's engines were in full throttle!
Daryl could feel all the muscles of his body straining against the ship and his radiation absorption increasing significantly due to his close prolixity to the two stars. He then started pushing back the ship faster and faster till they were far from the stars and with more effort, he threw the ship away, not caring where it will go, except if it went to the Solar System but he didn't throw it to that direction.
He would have sighed in relief if he wasn't in space so to celebrate, he flew back to the stars, albeit slower than before. When he determined he was in a safe proximite, he let the radiation soak his body and his cells were very excited of this as he started glowing purple. He didn't know how long he had stayed in place but the explosion of the two stars awoke him from the bliss.
The initial shockwave made him cringe in pain, his body had started to absorb the energy, making him start to glow, lightning flashing around him before the final shockwave finally hit. The rate of absorption he was going at increased to a point where he was like a little black hole just sucking in anything. But with this much power came consequences. He had bit much more than he could chew. Like a container filled with water, he started leaking out the energy he had absorbed.
He opened his eyes which were also glowing purple then opened his mouth and roared. No sound came out but space started folding itself from the waves he was transmitting which were too powerful to be hindered by the vacuum of space! Light itself started distorting as tiny black holes started forming from his waves alone. Soon, all the energy from collision started been absorbed by him and the black holes, relieving his pressure.
For an unknown amount of time, the phenomenon finally passed and all that was left was Daryl who was floating in space, his body had lost its organic look and became more ethereal blue. His eyes opened themselves and the blue light illuminated the system like they were giant blue stars.
"This much power!" he talked, space itself unable to stop him from speaking and words from been heard! His body started gaining its organic form. His naked body then was covered with a pair of jeans, sneakers and a blue t-shirt. "Having this much power must be a crime!" He then took a step but it was like he travelled billions upon billions of years as he just appeared above Earth. From the way it looked, many years had passed.
"I will go back to the day I left Earth that way, I never left!" he said to himself then disappeared from the timeline and appeared in the timeline he had left Earth. He saw himself leave and could not believe how weak he was back then! Then, he floated back down and landed in Nolan's backyard.
"I dare you to bring any Vultrumites in Earth, Nolan!" he said to himself.
