Chapter 16: Out

Daryl looked at the two survivors with his eyes narrowed his eyes. Mr. Immortal was a few millenniums old and War Woman had the name war in her super hero name. He was sure both of them outclassed him in combat experience so he had to outmatch them with his speed and his overwhelming strength. The first to make a move was War Woman who charged at him and swung her Morningstar at his head. Daryl had to duck but he saw Mr. Immortal flying at him, his punch already going for his head. Daryl scoffed as his body suddenly vibrated so fast the fist just went through him. Still at this position, Daryl turned around and punched WW away, making her hit the wall of the hide out and fly outside.

Mr. Immortal was surprised by the power of the punch and in his daze, Daryl got hold of his hand that had thrown the punch and with a little bit of force, the hand was ripped off his shoulder. He fell on the floor, screaming in pain but Daryl was tight on time so he went on top of him and was about to deliver the deciding punch when he heard the wind whistling, making him fly away. WW'S Morningstar flew past Mr. Immortal and imbedded itself on the wall on the other side. Daryl looked at where it came from and saw her flying in with her face swollen and bluish. She charged at him and just to humor her, he let her punch him. The punch produced a shockwave that pushed Mr. Immortal away but Daryl was still standing still and unfazed, albeit his skin tight suit was tattered.

Taking this chance, Daryl's right hand sped toward WW and before she could escape or dodge, she was cut in half, the winds he generated practically destroyed the walls behind her. The two parts of her body fell on the ground and he turned to look at the only survivor. Mr. Immortal saw the two parts of his long time friend and became berserk. He charged at Daryl, albeit with one hand, and tried to land a punch which he ducked with his superior speed and delivered a kick back, making the superhero fly out of the hideout, leaving it crumbling behind. Daryl caught up with him whilst still in the air and his eyes glowed blue before he unleashed his laser beams on his face, practically melting his head off. He then flung the body to space because he had to be sure, the guy had immortal as his superhero name after all.

"Second big fight. I think they are becoming weak," he said to himself before looking upwards suddenly. With his electromagnetic sight, he saw waves approaching his area and he looked up, using his enhanced sight, saw a satellite trying to focus on him. With a growl, he flew away, leaving an almighty sonic boom behind him.

"Oh my God!" Cecil exclaimed when he saw the remaining part of the Guardians of the Globe cave, nothing! He had been alerted that a big fight just happened here and they had hurried their satellite which was flying over Asia to hurry and show them what was happening but even with its terrifying speed, they were late!

"Can you show me who they were fighting?" he asked one of his guys.

"We can't. Whoever it was was very fast and strong too in order to finish this fight in just three minutes! I am afraid that we didn't even capture his departure," the man answered.

"Switch to thermal. I want to see if there's any survivors," Cecil said. The guy pushed a few keys and the screen showed thermal. But, everything showed that the whole place was cold. "X-Ray, now!"

"Sir, the X-Rays might harm the surrounding area and people!" the guy tried to dissuade him but Cecil grabbed his collar, lifted him as his face showed clearly the feeling he was feeling right now.

"I don't care what is going to happen later, I want to know whether there is anyone below that rubble," he shouted at the frightened man before slamming him back on his chair. "X-Ray, now!" The man typed quickly and immediately, the X-Ray was deployed. Immediately, they saw six bodies and one severed arm under the rubble. Cecil could not believe what he was seeing!

"This can't be happening! Can you identify those bodies?"

"Sure, but we will need thirty minutes," the guy answered, quickly. Cecil nodded before taking his phone and dialing a number.

"Donald, I want you to take a team and go to the Guardians of the Globe cave. I want you to remove all the rubble there,"

"Does this involve the noise we heard coming from that place?" Donald asked.

"It might. Just head there and take an excavator or two with you!" Cecil said and hang up. In his forty five years of working for the government, this was the first time he truly felt the pressure of his job. The Guardians of the Globe were the protectors of USA and most importantly, Earth. Their force was the trump card they needed against beings like Nolan and the one who arrived early on, Kryptonian. With their death and possible announcement, Earth was still ae risk. Sure, they had Omniman, but he would rather have Earthlings protect Earth than aliens. All in all, he didn't trust Nolan with the ultimate survivor of Earth because at the end of the day, it wasn't his home!

"Sir, we have identified the bodies. It appears to be all of the Guardians of the Globe excluding Mr. Immortal," the man from before shouted. Cecil could not help but feel the weight of those words crush him, making him sit on a chair near him.

"This can't be happening!" he said, clutching his forehead. Suddenly, he looked fierce as his body regained its strength. He got up quickly and almost ran to the guy.

"Where's Mr. Immortal? Find him, he might still be alive!" he shouted. Immediately, they all started searching for him and after a minute, one of them did.

"I found him, sir!" one of them shouted but he didn't sound enthusiastic. He then sent te image to the big screen and everyone's face fell. There was Mr. Immortal's body with one hand missing together with his head! This was a big blow to all their moral that even Cecil couldn't help but fall onto his ass in shock and unwillingness. Mr. Immortal was called that because as long as his body and head were still intact, he could be revived. But right now, his body was in space, constantly going flying away from Earth. In fact, it was only by a fluke they found the body using a Mars probe.

"Whoever you are, I will find you, and I will kill you!" Cecil swore.

Daryl got back to Nolan's house with a small puppy in his hands. He had heard Nolan telling his son that he had gone to get him a gift from space but space is vast so it was easier to just buy a puppy from pet store. When he got in, he found the eighteen year old about to sneak out in his undies and white pajama shirt.

"Going somewhere?" Daryl asked him.

"Uhh...I was going out for a walk," Mark answered, uncertainly.

"In your undies? Are you perhaps an exhibitionist?" Daryl mocked the poor teenager.

"What's with the puppy? Midnight snack?" Mark asked.

"Not exactly. This is my gift for you.," Daryl answered, holding out the little Labrador. The pup gave a yelp as it swung its tail excitedly. Mark's heart melted seeing its adorable face and he immediately went to pick it up. It seemed they hit it off immediately, thanks to Daryl's good eye. The more he looked at Mark, the more he noticed that he has too much of Deborah inside of him.

'In the end, the son will be the father's undoing, not the other way around,' he thought to himself before going to the his room, the guest room.
