Chapter 2: The beginning

"W-...Where am I?" I mumbled to myself as I was rubbing my eyes. The sun was was at its peak and burning in the endlessly blue sky.

I slowly get up as I could smell the odor of the sea. And unbeknownst to me, tears fell.

"Wh- Why am I crying?" I took my head between my hands and tried to stop the tears. Alas, it seemed impossible. They kept falling on the sand.

I tried to look ahead to try and calm myself down a little bit, and as time went by, thanks to the sound of the waves, my tears stopped on their own.

Once I was sure that there was nothing wrong anymore, I get up and looked around me.

"Hmm, there's only one path, I hope nothing dangerous will happen," I said as I started walking toward the only path available. However, after my second step, I fell on something.

"Argh seriously, me and my chance!" I got up after checking if I wasn't hurt, before looking for what made me fall.

"What's that?" There was something covered by sand. It looked like metals.

I started to dig up the object before opening my mouth wide because of the shock.

"How in the world is there a sword here?" The sword was pretty pale-looking, but something deep down was telling me to keep this sword with me wherever I'll go in the future.

And as if I was already used to it, I immediately put it in the scabbard I wasn't even aware was on my waist.

"Well, it fits me quite well," I smiled and walked once again toward the path.

It was quite peaceful. I could see the trees and the beautiful vegetation from afar. The flowers were extremely pretty as if they just finished their growth.

And as I was walking on the sand, I suddenly heard something from behind a rock.

*Boing* *Boing*

I immediately unsheathe my sword and get into a fighting stance. Once again, I did it as if it was an old habit. Nonetheless, I let my body move as it pleases because even my instinct was screaming 'danger' at me.

*Boing* *Boing*

And I was right to let my body do so because two gelatinous beings came out from behind the rock. One was blue while the other was red.

"Are they... blobs?"

I wasn't expecting any answers, but the way those two beings were moving gave me the reply that I wanted. "Then they are monsters, I should be careful."

I decided to be even more careful as I didn't know what type of monsters they were. Sure I knew their identity, but I knew nothing of their attack patterns.

And I was right because the blue blob sent a bubble of water directly to me, while the red one was moving slowly but surely toward me.

I dodged the bubble skillfully while keeping an eye on the red blob.

However, I wasn't expecting it to throw fire at me.

I could see the fire getting dangerously closer to me, but as I was still in motion from my earlier dodge, I managed to avoid the flames skillfully.

Normally at that moment, I would have backed down to study their attacks a little more. However, my body once again acted on its own and decided to dash toward the closer blob, which was the red one.

And with one swing of my sword, the latter disappeared, slowly fading away.

Thankfully for me, the blue blob didn't take advantage of this blind moment to attack me, which it pay it with its life.

*Phewww*

I breathe heavily before sitting on the sand for a few moments. The fight didn't really exhaust me. No, far from it. If I must say, it was pretty easy. But I couldn't say the same thing about my mental state.

I was already tired from earlier. Crying for hours wasn't the greatest thing out of here, you see. And adding this fight to the lot tired me more than I thought.

So after checking if there weren't any more foes, I sat against the big rock to rest a little. The gentle wind was playing with my black hair, which made me smile a little.

After a while, I got up and started walking again. This time, there weren't any foes, so I managed to reach the abundant flora without danger.

I approached a few flowers and decided to take a few of them. From what I knew, people could make potions with flowers, so maybe it was the same for those as well.

"But how do I know that?" I stayed on the matter for a while, but after finding no answers, I just shrugged it off and continued on my way.

As I was walking I could slowly see the sky getting darker. Nighttime still didn't come, but it wasn't that far away.

So I continued going down the path, following the breeze's direction. And I once again heard a few noises. But unlike earlier, I decided to hide behind a tree. If it was a monster, I could at least try and ambush it to go away easily.

However, it wasn't a monster, but another human who was talking to someone, or should I say to something else?

The human was a boy, around 160 cm tall, exactly like me. He wore long boots reaching his knees with a little short, living his skin a little visible. He was also wearing a white shirt with lace between the buttons and at the end of the sleeves. He has green eyes and pretty brown hair.

As for the thing he was talking to, it couldn't be addressed as a monster. No, it looked like a mythical being. It was half-eagle and half-lion.

'Was it called a griffin?' I thought.

'I'm not sure anymore, but how in the world does such a tiny boy is talking to such a terrifying being?'

The boy was holding out his hands. But he wasn't scared at all. No, it looked as if he has done that for thousands of years already. However, the griffin wasn't looking exactly friendly. It was as if it was reluctant to reach out to the boys.

I continued watching them, but this moment didn't last long because the griffin's green eyes suddenly turned red.

And instinctively, I jump out from behind the tree to face this mythical creature!
